  • you can use the pokemon cards there mini games on them

  • I must have the track while you scan the cards from the e-reader ost. If there really is an ost

  • Is this Nintendo license?

  • oh, I loved my eReader because of the Excitebike. i remember being so upset when i lost one of the cards. xD

but anyways, did you get the new Club Nintendo Game & Watch Collection for the DS?

  • i still have it but all the cards were lost xD

  • was this also released in europe ?

  • @Jquelta you like many people have made a common mistake when you said you cant use the link cable hook up you ment you couldn't use cards like sma4 on the Sp, right? well you are half right you cant use the passthrough on the ereader but just use the link cable slot on the other side that will work just as well, even nintendo went to tell people this on the instruction panflit. hope this helps

  • Metroid prime music for the intro SWEET! best game ever!

  • do you have to scan the level cards every time you want to play them?

  • @FlyingAce1016 Nope, you only scan them once.

  • I need to get one so I can use it with my copy of smb advance 4

  • WHAT THE HECK!? 5:03

  • POKEMAN! cards. LOL!!

  • Those pokemon cards you own have minigames on them that you don't need ruby or sapphire for...

  • This has to be the worst invention by nintendo I guess they were trying to go back to their roots when they used to make playing cards.

  • OMG, i found this at my local used game store for $10 O_o i need the eon ticket NAU!

  • they should make all 3ds games card swipe only

  • e reader = biggest disappointment of my child hood

  • Do you have the cape feather? For SMB 3.

Also, why can't you just scan cards on the sp?

  • @JediMasterOW is that the cape in the card levels?

  • @887strakk Idk. I haven't watched this video in about 7 months.

  • it would've been nice if they made a better 2nd gen of the e reader, i still have cards for the damn thing....but after the first one broke, i could not find and or get another.

  • @dude22072 Alright fine, so I made a simple mistake, no need to call me an idiot and yell at me in all caps.

  • @Jquelta sorry i was just pissed off yesterday. everything was going wrong.

  • blondguy, or whatever your name is, this is confusing.............on Mario 3, Gameboy 1 is the hunka-chunka gba, Gameboy 2 is the sp. I want to scan an item card to Gameboy 2 (the sp)........... so I put the E-reader in GB2, put the Mario Advance 4 cartridge in GB1? Or the other way around? What do I do? I need more details.

Also, another question for Mario 3, the Kuribo's shoe (in level 5-3), is there an item card for it?

Lastly, I buy the ________ set of cards to actually play Mario 3?

  • @887strakk All you need is two GBAs, doesn't matter what models they are, just keep in mind if you use the E-Reader in a SP model, you use SP link port instead of the E-Reader's for the link cable.

I don't think Kuribo's shoe is technically an "item" since you take that from a Goomba. It's not unlike the Lakitu clouds you can take and ride on in later Mario games.

You don't "need" any of the cards to play Mario 3 on GBA, think of them of extra features.

  • @Jquelta Thanks

  • @Jquelta I got Golf-e and there's 5 cards.......................but card 5 only has 1 code! Is there something wrong or is this game supposed to have only 9 codes? All my other e-reader games have 10.

  • Maybe I'll get one some day. Mario Party -e and SMA4 look interesting.

Nintendo should have done more with the reader. If they can add new levels to SMA4, why couldn't they add for example new racing tracks for Mario Kart?

  • I lost my e reader cards :(

  • E-READER ICE HOCKEY FOR THE WIN

  • Wasn't card swiping technology considered "revolutionary" during the early 2000's.

  • cower in fear of my gun! O_O

  • The Machop, Machoke, and Machamp cards included with the e reader do not require Ruby or Sapphire. They merely make a mini game.

The Animal Crossing card will get you the K.K. Ska song for your music player.

  • your an idiot. to use the link on the sp you plug the cable in the sp port. the e-reader port is just a wire from the gba to the cable. also. if you hit no you can still play you just dont get a save on the e-reader. my bro has a e-reader and i used it on my sp to my gamecube and it worked

  • It sucks that the european version of SMA4 dosent have level cards

  • On E-reader GBA you can plug the gba to the Gamecube and get super mario bros with the E-reader!

  • is it only possible to get Punch-Out!! in Animal Crossing with the e-reader or Action Replay? I keep typing in the code I find online to get Punch Out and Nook always says "that's someone else's code"

  • Hmm do you HAVE to have two Game Boy Advances to use the e-Reader with Super Mario Advance 4, or is that just if you don't have the Game Boy Player (i.e, you'd need 2 GBAs and the e-Reader, OR 1 GBA and the Game Boy Player with the e-Reader)?

Sorry if it sounds like a newbie question. xD

  • i have the mario game

  • The Japaneses had better stuff but Nintendo made it where Japaneses cards wont work on the U.S E-Reader and now there is DSI ware but I still like using my Gameboy Player and e-reader now that I got RetroUSB's SNES and NES Retroports since SNES and NES work well as Gamepads to play the games.

  • You don't actually need any Pokémon games to use the cards.

They unlock a minigame, nothing for the GBA games.

  • 5:04 POKEMON!

  • thats strange, when I put my E-reader in my Gamecube player it didn't work.

  • I went over to a friend's house to use the Animal Crossing card, it only adds an extra song to the game, thats it

  • Im only gonna collect them

  • We'll put this with the pile of other addons that nintendo didn't fully use, a shame I think that they pretty much abandoned quite a few things.

  • awesome review mate (:

  • blond guy do u have battlefeild heroes i know its out of contense

  • No, I don't, sorry.

  • no problem

  • Decent collectors item, but lousy addon. What was Nintendo thinking? I really don't see how this is practical at all.

  • Well, at least it's more practical than the Virtual Boy.

  • @Jquelta ANYTHING is more practical than the virtual boy

  • good review.

The e-reader was a very good idea, but its too bad it was too large and not have enough memory for more than 1 game at a time. Im sure with more memory and a less bulky design it could have took off.

  • Hmm, maybe, you never know.

  • @Jquelta isnt donkey kong jr diddy kong? and howd you get the kirby game? and is it raccoon leaf or wild ride inthe skky that komes with the SMA4 or isit both?

  • OMG i remember this thing!

  • Hahaha. This thing's like the old punch card readers they used to program the first computers.

Why the hell would they have made this? Couldn't those games have just gone on cartridges?

And what's up with giving KK such a hard time? He's a laid back kind of guy.

  • I dunno, kids like collecting cards...and video games...so why not try and put the two together!

Meh, K.K. still annoys me, with his hippy attitude and all. :P

  • You took the pokemon sound from my video, didn't you? >:3

  • Maaaaybe...

  • lmao
