  • Beautiful song, marvelous lyrics, superb voice.

  • Wakeman plays some of this on his keyboard solo from "An Evening of Yes Music Plus" which was recorded during the ABWH tour. That's a great live album. I've got nothing against Jeff Berlin, but it would've been really cool if Tony Levin hadn't got sick. But he did and Jeff Berlin played the second half of the tour which included their show in San Jose which was recorded for production. Bruford's solo is especially dazzling.

  • @whiterobin Or maybe a different kind of green plant...hmmm.

  • Beautiful song. It's hard to believe that any one band could be so talented. Consider especially the fact that the three virtuosos Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman & Chris Squire worked together for years crafting such incomparable songs. What an amazing band!

  • What a great song! To put it simply, it is pure beauty. Thank you Rick and Jon for having written it!

  • lol Poor Chris Squire, no bass in this one, not much to do :P

  • This is what yes does when the power goes out.

  • I like Rush's Madrigal better but they're both great.

  • @MrYoursuchanoob Rush's Madrigal is nothing short of superb. When I had "A Farewell To Kings" on cassette, I used to skip it to get to Cygnus X-1. Then one day I actually listened to it and it's been one of my favorite Rush songs ever since.

  • Simply a stroke of genius....

  • ive seen 83580 times this video xD

  • Dramtcgh malati Carsve! Excellent music indeed!

  • the masters always make it look easy.Bravo.

  • They were more than normal rockstars

"Celestial travellers have always been here with us"

  • I fully agree with Dream2112. Hey, I guess you are a Rush fan, too.

  • This beautiful. These guys never cease to amaze me. ;-;

  • BRING BACK THE MEMORIES.

  • this is heaven this is my song i want to be in this world this is love

  • I dont mind where I will go after my dead, but I just want say its, dosent matter to me If over there I will hear YES MUSIC.

    Armando from Mérida México

  • @Chacmultun2 Absolutely! Don't worry my friend. I've heard YES' music is actually Heaven's official soundtrack (Hell's Justin Bieber and Gaga). So you are all set. It will be waiting for you.... So, behave baby!!..

  • way cool

  • Way cool!

  • que linda letra

  • other way round ....

  • I am sure Rick Wakeman is the reincarnation of J.S. Bach himself.

  • The musical REST. Does any other group use it? Howe's acoustic runs after some intense harpsicord what a constrast! How do you describe this stuff. I can only think of genius, virtuous, pleasant, wonderful....

AND I just want to remind Ranger Steve, Mur and Dave, that it does NOT get any better than this.

  • I want that Ring, and the sheet music to the guitar and Harpicord part, and Jon's voice

  • I want what Jon Anderson was smoking.

  • I read somewhere (yeah, wiki) that he was on mushrooms as a part of his spiritual lifestyle. Maybe that's what you're looking for :p but really, this is a beautiful song. One of Yes' finest. Also, I want what Rick was wearing

  • i dont understand, this is a great album. the one that triggered my entering into progressive rock.

  • I'd challenge any vocalist to hear that harpsichord part and improvise such a vocal.

    Such is, Jon Anderson's magic!

  • Sacred ships do sail the seventh age and have always been there. jon anderson and rick wakeman are elite performers. it just cant get any better.

  • me gustaria verlo en vivo

i wish i could see it in live

  • alguien sabe còmo puedo conseguir las partituras por internet? Anyone knows how to get hold of this sheet music over the internet?

  • probaste en poner "madrigal yes tab" en google y a ver que te tiraba??

  • tab darìa sòlo la parte de la guitarra sin la partitura, ni siquiera para la guitarra.

  • NEED THAT RING!

  • Desde Argentina: Muchas Gracias por el recuerdo de un hermoso tema y un grupo Genial!

    Thank You!!!

  • YES, they're OVERLORDS!!!! Three millions of musical ideas in a piece of music! Why could it be possible thirty years ago, and not nowadays?

  • very good point! ;)

  • I need to find the sheet music for this...

  • very nice

i want a ring like that!

    good video!

  • wow, i want a ring like that...

  • i heard chris always smells like wine.

  • well, they didn't call him the fish for nothing.

apparently, he surprised all the other members with how much he could drink...

  • actually, he got the nickname 'the Fish' because Pisces is his astrological sign and according to Bill Bruford, he always liked to take long baths. Also, he once accidentally flooded a hotel room in Oslo, Norway while taking a shower.

  • you mean Rick? they called Squire Fish because he's a Pisces and because he took long baths.

  • haha, awesome video!

  • purely amazing

  • this is wonderful

  • so beautiful...hadn't heard this in many, many years. Thank you so much for posting it

  • I guess it means covered with laurel leaves, which stand for victory.

  • This is so special, it make my blood dance, if that makes sense. Something to do with the spirit of the age, I suppose...

  • this is the best sound on the earth

  • Wow!Rick playing a real harpsichord!Mighty stuff.

  • So good, old and genious. I knew the song for decades but when I heard it again it took me away and I could not hold my tears. Who needs a god or a life after having this on earth !

  • I will be there said my friend of a distant life

Covered in greens of a golden age, set in stone

Follow me, 'he sounded of dreams supreme' follow me

Drifting within the glow and the after-glow of the eve

  • And if that firelight, I could match the inner flame

Sacred ships do sail the seventh age

Cast off your garments of fear, replace them with love

Most of all play with the game of the age

Highest of places remain all as one with you

Giving us light and the freedom of the day

  • And if that firelight, I could match the inner flame

Sacred ships do sail the seventh age

    And have always been here

Celestial travellers have always been here with us

Set in the homes of the universe we have yet to go

Countless expansions will arrive and flow inside of us

My friend, he of fantasy, dancing with the spirit of the age

  • This may be their most beautiful piece of music they ever wrote and almost no one has ever heard it. Very sad

  • Isn't that amazing?, coming from an album that some jerks say it sucks...? Idiots. This one and Onward are some of the must beautiful songs I've ever heard in my entire life.

  • Impresionante tema gracias por subirlo.-

  • Edsongs1964 says that this must be what they play in heaven and i have to agree 100%.

  • Say YES to YES:)

  • I do.

  • E uma das musicas mais lindas que eu ja ouvi. Deve ser o que tocam no ceu.

  • I love the little diminished key they play at about 2:19. You won't hear that kind of stuff from any of these bullshit modern groups.

  • true true

  • Rush's song Madrigal is better but I like both.

  • You don't have to be so hurtfull towards me...

  • This song is beautiful. I like this and "silent wings of freedom".

Although Tormato have many of Yes efforts, this is the weakest of the group. Yes were vanishing since "gong for the one", the best album when Rick returned. Besides, about Tormato, he said:

"We had great material, but the time was wrong".

  • how con anyone criticize this stuff? they're so great, howe wakeman plays like god, jon's voice is so sweet. great song for a great band

  • He who criticizes the music of YES is a stupid, ignorant asshole.

  • No need to get rough, but i agree with you.

  • @Dream2112 you are absolutely rigth!

  • @maxpippobianca and howe's guitar is.. is... yes!!!

  • good philosophy

  • You bet! Hehehehe

  • I like the sound of this song, I really do, but...Tormato was the beginning of the Anderson/NewAge/UFO thing that hijacked lots of lyrics thereafter. Think Holy Lamb on Big Generator and Fist of Fire on ABWH...

  • I LIKE THIS SONG BECAUSE IS BEATUFIL

  • i love that song then and still do, it so short and sweet, saw it live years ago, always wanted them to play that in recent concerts.

  • It is endeed a different cut, and yes, Tormato is a great albun in its own way and quality of sound though it didn`t grasp the whole imagination of the band at the time`s mood, Great Jewel a Piece of music...there are bearly two songs in Yes based on Harpsichords, Saberian and this one.

  • half of the worlds psychedelic mushrooms must have gone into making that song.

  • He "experimented" with shrooms once a year, and he discovered he was from the "elf people." I'm serious!

  • yes ure right!

    great vocalist tho!

  • This is cutting edge stuff...even today. Forget your swanky DJs (such as Kid Jensen) and club culture..this is the reel chill thrill pill zeal!

  • I focus so much on Howe and Squire when I listen to Yes, that I tend to forget how much Wakeman kicks ass. I still remember buying my first album (Yessongs) when I was in 8th grade because I liked Roundabout, and then being totally blown away by 6 Wives.

    Thanks so much for posting!

  • This video also appeared on a YesYears video collection, back in the early '90s. I love it. Unfortunately, they spend so much time focused on Wakeman playing that beautiful Thomas Goff harpsichord, they tend to not pick up on the fact that Howe is playing his *** off until too late.

  • think no current bands play this well ?? try the Legendary Pink Dots !!

  • You're kidding, right?

  • a differen mix than tormato?

  • an almost hidden jewel...progsnobs tend to rip Tormato with so much anger...there r beautiful moments like this tune...thanks for posting it

  • I've been a Yes fan for a long time and never saw this - what a treat! Thanx for posting it! They oozed creativity and virtuosity, didn't they?! And still do!

  • YES they did. What a wonderful palette for acoustic ambience and classically influenced song. They complement each other in very graceful ways.

  • dont forget rejoice...

  • this song was perfect when they would play it live and follow it with silent wings of freedom, wish they would release a live album with the two on it.

  • brilliant best vocalist best keyboard player

  • Simply beautiful. Are there any bands today that are this good?

  • I ask myself this question whenever I have the misfortune of hearing the bands that are currently popular. I can't imagine any contemporary bands covering this kind of material.

  • I agree, the best one, altogether with On the silent wings of freedom

  • OMG! I never knew that this existed. Yeah, probably THE best track on Tormato. Although, I'm not ashamed to admitt that I really like this album.

  • excellent.

  • What a classic song - Please tour again soon!

  • IMO the best song on the Tormato record. Thanks for this!

  • Muito bom !!!

  • This video is awesome!! thx

  • Very cool.

  • I love this video and song.
