Wakeman plays some of this on his keyboard solo from "An Evening of Yes Music Plus" which was recorded during the ABWH tour. That's a great live album. I've got nothing against Jeff Berlin, but it would've been really cool if Tony Levin hadn't got sick. But he did and Jeff Berlin played the second half of the tour which included their show in San Jose which was recorded for production. Bruford's solo is especially dazzling.
Beautiful song. It's hard to believe that any one band could be so talented. Consider especially the fact that the three virtuosos Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman & Chris Squire worked together for years crafting such incomparable songs. What an amazing band!
@MrYoursuchanoob Rush's Madrigal is nothing short of superb. When I had "A Farewell To Kings" on cassette, I used to skip it to get to Cygnus X-1. Then one day I actually listened to it and it's been one of my favorite Rush songs ever since.
@Chacmultun2 Absolutely! Don't worry my friend. I've heard YES' music is actually Heaven's official soundtrack (Hell's Justin Bieber and Gaga). So you are all set. It will be waiting for you.... So, behave baby!!..
The musical REST. Does any other group use it? Howe's acoustic runs after some intense harpsicord what a constrast! How do you describe this stuff. I can only think of genius, virtuous, pleasant, wonderful....
AND I just want to remind Ranger Steve, Mur and Dave, that it does NOT get any better than this.
I read somewhere (yeah, wiki) that he was on mushrooms as a part of his spiritual lifestyle. Maybe that's what you're looking for :p but really, this is a beautiful song. One of Yes' finest. Also, I want what Rick was wearing
actually, he got the nickname 'the Fish' because Pisces is his astrological sign and according to Bill Bruford, he always liked to take long baths. Also, he once accidentally flooded a hotel room in Oslo, Norway while taking a shower.
So good, old and genious. I knew the song for decades but when I heard it again it took me away and I could not hold my tears. Who needs a god or a life after having this on earth !
Isn't that amazing?, coming from an album that some jerks say it sucks...? Idiots. This one and Onward are some of the must beautiful songs I've ever heard in my entire life.
This song is beautiful. I like this and "silent wings of freedom".
Although Tormato have many of Yes efforts, this is the weakest of the group. Yes were vanishing since "gong for the one", the best album when Rick returned. Besides, about Tormato, he said:
I like the sound of this song, I really do, but...Tormato was the beginning of the Anderson/NewAge/UFO thing that hijacked lots of lyrics thereafter. Think Holy Lamb on Big Generator and Fist of Fire on ABWH...
It is endeed a different cut, and yes, Tormato is a great albun in its own way and quality of sound though it didn`t grasp the whole imagination of the band at the time`s mood, Great Jewel a Piece of music...there are bearly two songs in Yes based on Harpsichords, Saberian and this one.
I focus so much on Howe and Squire when I listen to Yes, that I tend to forget how much Wakeman kicks ass. I still remember buying my first album (Yessongs) when I was in 8th grade because I liked Roundabout, and then being totally blown away by 6 Wives.
This video also appeared on a YesYears video collection, back in the early '90s. I love it. Unfortunately, they spend so much time focused on Wakeman playing that beautiful Thomas Goff harpsichord, they tend to not pick up on the fact that Howe is playing his *** off until too late.
I've been a Yes fan for a long time and never saw this - what a treat! Thanx for posting it! They oozed creativity and virtuosity, didn't they?! And still do!
this song was perfect when they would play it live and follow it with silent wings of freedom, wish they would release a live album with the two on it.
I ask myself this question whenever I have the misfortune of hearing the bands that are currently popular. I can't imagine any contemporary bands covering this kind of material.
Beautiful song, marvelous lyrics, superb voice.

And if that firelight, I could match the inner flame
Sacred ships do sail the seventh age
Cast off your garments of fear, replace them with love
Most of all play with the game of the age
Highest of places remain all as one with you
Giving us light and the freedom of the day
LennyBlew 3 years ago
And if that firelight, I could match the inner flame
Sacred ships do sail the seventh age
And have always been here
Celestial travellers have always been here with us
Set in the homes of the universe we have yet to go
Countless expansions will arrive and flow inside of us
My friend, he of fantasy, dancing with the spirit of the age
