Listen to many of the female artists from the 1990s like Mazzy Star, Natalie Merchant, Natalie Imbruglia, Lisa Loeb, Bjork, Cranberries, and you should find a ton of similar stuff. 90s was one of best eras for music.

@therealKINDLE And Sarah McLachlan used a drum loop from Remy Zero on "Possession". What's your point? Musicians borrow from each other all the time, it's S.O.P. in the music business. Also, think about how many people out there, both mainstream established artists, as well as indie acts, use software like Pro Tools or Logic Pro that have vast libraries of drum loops and samples. If you really do "sculpt your own drum tracks" think for a second about where you get your inspiration.

where trip hoppy music is concerned from what i've seen and experienced it seems that guys appreciate and are more drawn to bands with a male vocalist and girls to bands with female vocalists.

@G19315 - I am the opposite of what you described. I'm a guy who is overwhelmingly drawn to haunting female voices in this type of music. About the only male-lead music of this flavor that I like is Radiohead/Thom Yorke, and a few Japanese bands. The rest of what could be called "trip hop" in my collection is all female lead. A very small sample: Emiliana Torrini, Massive Attack, Portishead, Hungry Lucy, Switchblade Symphony, Sneaker Pimps (their first album anyway)...I could go on forever.

Back in the days of WinAmp's Shoutcast, I ripped a barely-listenable version of a song by her (that he could not find the title to [the stream had no singer names..]). Over the years as I added more music to my collection, this song never lost it's value and was always a pleasure to listen to even in it's low hissy quality.

This song has many special (read: heavy) very good and very bad memories attached to it. I'm so glad after all these years, I'm reunited with a higher quality version!

I think your right. I think this song is about how she loves him, but he tries to stay strong, "put on a tough front" but he's breaking down so he pushes her away, he tries to make her leave, but the part "your frown is soft" is about the fact that he doesn't really want to go, and he loves her so she's happy.. "she sings"

I dont think so, but I totally could be wrong (it wouldnt be the first time^^) when I read the lyrics I just got the impression its a declaration of total love & devotion to someone that she passionately loves. Even tho he hurts her with the words he says & the things he does she still stays with him because she knows that he loves her deep down and hes just trying to keep a tough front. Shes basically saying that him & his love fill up the empty spaces in her life. haha idk for sure :]
