no, you cant turn off the infrared lights unless you put the switch halfway between the 2 modes.

But how noticeable are the lights on the front to the naked eye? I would buy these for mid night uses for many uses but they're no good to me if the person I'm looking at can see my little red or white or whatever color light coming at him.

well there are two modes one you cant see at all and the other you can, the one you can is not as bright as a red led flashlight but if somebody looks directly at you they would definitely be able to see you.. this ring of lights could possibly be replaced by ir lights not visible to the human eye but without any mods on the bright mode they could see the red light
