  • 159 diesel 10x better

  • inside of the car it sounds really great, but if you're outside...well, diesel lol

  • Comment removed

  • we love the diesels for their torque and for being "economic" (compared to a petrol engine with the same PS), but not for their sound. That's for sure. I have the same modell, with a 2.5 v6 petrol engine. You can be sure, any v6 will leave you behind, and be prepared, probably all the 2 litres as well (with less PS than yours). But you'll get the ride cheaper ;) Enjoy it!

  • i miss my alfa 156 got 4 weeks ago and already the gear failured now cost me like 3000$ to fix it

  • only 6000rpm limited on diesel engines, interesting.

as i can remember the petrol engines got to like 8000

  • Diesel may be a lot of things, but it sounds like shit compared to a proper v8 soundtrack.

  • hmm, i usually would prefer a petrol engine, but id take an alfa 2.4 anyday, maybe even over the new V6

  • @robicool I have one and it has impressed me more than any other car i've driven...the amount of torque is just astounding and really good fuel economy. Most of the time we use acceleration rather than top speed in everyday life...and torque is the way to go for acceleration.

  • you really lucky americans we cant use that damned big cycled motors in turkey.we use 1600 cc ts lol

  • i want one as well but i think i'm going to buy a MB because the roads are poor in my country and i know that alfas are a little more sensitive at everything that goes with the suspention.

  • Really want one!! -But reliability and tax....

  • @DiarmaidGNR - Tax, fair enough. Reliability? Don't listen to the people that tell you Alfa's aren't reliable. These days they're superb reliability wise.

    Hell, I drive a 2002 1.6TS 147 and I've had it for 3 years.

Never let me down ONCE. Cracking car :)

  • 147 are one of the most reliable alfas out there, the rest of the older ones are very unreliable

  • @DiarmaidGNR: I agree about the older ones but post 2001 / 2002 Alfa's are solid as houses :) The new 159 etc more so.

  • @DiarmaidGNR not true.

  • @doddsalfa Very true.

  • @DiarmaidGNR i have own 5 alfas of the past.All were reliable.

  • @PJacko1985

absolutely.. i've put 20,000 miles on my V6 166 (now 90,000) and its not missed a beat. done some big journeys in it too..

  • @DiarmaidGNR I am a hardened Seat/Alfa Romeo/Fiat fan. I've owned more of the Fiat group then I have VAG group. Alfas and Fiats are both on the same reliability queues. I had 1 Punto 1.7TD which was appalling and went wrong every Monday but then all my other 3 Bravo's were ok. They did have weak steering which knocks out of alignment very easily and watch the deterioration of the manifolds. The interior electrics are usually fine, its just Head/Brake/reverse lights that can be an issue.

  • engine italian ;)

  • if you talk shit about those new common-rail diesels, you still live in the stone age

  • It redlines at 5000?

  • it's a common-rail turbo diesel, they have high torque at low revs

  • diesel..!

  • its diesel sa you have answer :)

  • dear alfa,

pls get rid of those stupid gm enginesin 159 brera and etc.....

get the real v6 alfa engine^^

  • a remaped Diesel can keep up with the 3.2 V6.

There talk is amazing. over 85% of 2.4 have clutch slip after its remapped.

  • Which is why I got a new clutch BEFORE I remapped my JTD ;)

  • sounds great for a deisle

  • Listen, there are a few different types of v8 engines out there and nearly all have a higher power rating than your e46. Even though BMW is taking diesle power to another level it still has a way to go before your e46 will be competing with american v8's. In the mean time you can try the Alfa Romeo 8C competizione if you don't like american v8's.

  • get your stupid american V8's, we'll race with my 330d E46, see if diesels are boring. Idiots.

  • bel rumore per essere un diesel!

  • Just put a deposit on a Brera diesel today! My first Alfa, hope i like it...

  • Purte canime l as estodi alaste funotemia!

  • diesel lol

  • co ty skurvenej čůráku

  • one of the best sounding diesel engines ever

  • ohhhhhh its diesel

  • minchia che trattore!

  • si un trattore con fiat tecnica

  • ancora peggio!

  • che cagata

  • haha diesel.

  • so? go look at the audi r10 tdi or the peugeot 908 / 908 rc, and then let's see if diesels are still boring...

  • fackin american losers hahah diesel powerrrrr

  • Judging by all the comments below, Americans know nothing about good engines, especially diesels. Diesels are not meant to rev high, they usually achieve maximum torque in lower revs due to high compression and turbo etc. At 1500 RPM my car has max torque but will still rev to 5k.

  • agree

  • just dont judge all americans the same not all of us are dumbasses

  • @D41H4T5U You are right. Many diesel cars can shit all over an typical American gasoline V8 when it comes to acceleration, torque, fuel economy etc...

  • e poi dite male ai TDI???? ...bha....

  • you need to learn A LOT about engine types and their characteristics

  • lol? thats normal for diesel enginens...why do you think that v8 rev low ? how about f1 cars ? v8 revving up to 18.000 rpm... ferrari 360 revs up to over 8000 rpm....

  • ALFA ROMEO FIRST IN THE WORLD

    N° 1

  • fuck it, diesel engines suck..

  • Sounds nice inside but it seems as if the revs run out too early. It doesn't sound too hot outside though...

  • loooooooool!!

this is insane, from insade i thought i is some petrol V6 cos i new the dont have V8 in the model range with this dash, but!!

its 2,4 R5 :DD lol, great sound!!!! from not so great engine what runs on shitty fuel :D

alfa did great job, but i still like more GTV V6 3,0. BUT i rather fancy this sound from that witch makes gtv :DDDD

  • From the inside, it sounds like a V8 from the inside lol, to me sounds like an RS4

  • il contagiri nei due video non sembra andare di pari passo con il sound,

    Come se non fossero sincronizzati

  • this is a 5 cyl diesel

  • that's right, see my another video: v=l3BDFenDzjQ

    No exhaust tuning etc.

  • I know, but why sound Audi Diesel like crap and Alfa Diesel like THIS? wow.

  • because its an alfa man!

  • because its 5 cylinders

  • JTD mean diesel, dude

    JTS then is petrol

  • unbelievable - it's a Diesel!?

  • This is nice, thanks.
