I agree on the comments about getting a new pack. Those old packs are not that comfortable and WILL fall apart. Old nylon packs of that style rip more easily than some older canvas ones I have. An ALICE Pack/frame would not set you back much and would be much better. And DEMCAD.. have you taken your BOB and gone camping a weekend with it yet? That is how you can build some valuable experience.

Newer, expensive gear that you find at trendy sports departments in malls is more likely the attract the attention of bandits than older, worn out gear. I would get on top my house and watch for incoming undeads and try to pick them off with glorious headshots before they can get too close.
