If you disapprove of this song you must disapprove of King David because not only did he commit adultery with & stay with Bathsheba, he also conspired to commit murder. Time grows so short. What terrible fear the lost must be in since the world shifts and each step is unsure without Jesus.

In fact, with its level of difficulty in comprehending it, we should probably be encouraging people to read the New Living translation. The people who created those Bibles did so by going back to the Greek, the Aramaic, the Hebrew and putting the words into language that is more easily understood and makes sense to readers today.

There are some whom God has given over to the lusts of their own hearts, to their own counsel; some He says He has given a spirit of stupor. Although our discernment may not be sufficient to determine them for certain, with all the demands on our prayer lives and ministry time and energies, it may be better not to waste any of it on those clearly described by Heb10:26-27 and Luke17:1-2.

@seriousstoner, watch the series of videos on YouTube of Adrian Rogers speaking on "Crossing God's Deadline". He gives the Scriptural citations and evidence that people can cross the threshold to hell before the point of physical death.
If you've not stiffened your neck, hardened your heart, seared your conscience, or openly refused (like Amy) to obey God, loving your sin more than you love God, and you have a willing heart, then you likely have not crossed the deadline of which Rogers speaks.

Those are God's words. However, it is how you use the words that are important. God didn't say to use the Word as a way to bash God's children using them as you see fit as you don't know the believer's heart. Is there another way which you can be hear that doesn't involve attacking God's followers? We are saved by God's Grace, the God of the new testament. God won't forgive satan. God didn't forgive Judas. God won't forgive blasphemers of the Holy Spirit [Matt12:32]. God won't forgive apostates [Heb6:4-6, 2Pet2:20-22]. God won't forgive those who willfully commit sin leading to death [1John5:16]. God won't forgive those He gives over [Rom1:28, Rom11:8, John12:40, 2Thes2:11-12]. God clearly did not forgive all the unrepentant souls in hell.

If you disapprove of this song you must disapprove of King David because not only did he commit adultery with & stay with Bathsheba, he also conspired to commit murder. Best to pray first, seek God for an answer. Should we not reason together and seek to reach the lost? It was the prophets and the revelations that saved me. I felt the fear of the Lord. @BibleJoker2Face There are many, many translations of God's Word. There's nothing that says the KJV is the only one we should be reading. In fact, with its level of difficulty in comprehending it, we should probably be encouraging people to read the New Living translation. The people who created those Bibles did so by going back to the Greek, the Aramaic, the Hebrew and putting the words into language that is more easily understood and makes sense to readers today.

The modern translationas update, and in many cases, water down, the language of the Bible. for instance The Gospel According To Saint Luke in the NKJV denies the virgin birth of Jesus when it states the the child's father and mother were astonished (in the account of Jesus in the Temple, and He says, "Wot ye not that I must be about My Father's business?," the text goes on to say, "And the child's father and mother were astonished...") However, to each his own.

Also, I read the verses you're talking about. IN THE KJV -- and there's NOTHING denying the virgin birth. But the young parents "marvel" at the things said about Jesus (Luke 2:33) and OF COURSE they are "astonished" to find him speaking with the priests like a grown-up - it was unheard of for another adult to do so, much less a child.

Also, my KJV says that when he said, "How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?" that they "understood not the saying which he spake unto them" but that Mary kept his words in her heart. Because I believe that Christ is Who He says He is, He assures my future -- eternity in Heaven with Him.
Being born into the family of God makes us members of His church, the body of Christ. That is not a "religion," but relationship to God.

There are some whom God has given over to the lusts of their own hearts, to their own counsel; some He says He has given a spirit of stupor. Although our discernment may not be sufficient to determine them for certain, with all the demands on our prayer lives and ministry time and energies, it may be better not to waste any of it on those clearly described by Heb10:26-27 and Luke17:1-2.

@seriousstoner, to say "so be it" to God is the wrong attitude!! Even Christ, knowing that He had to go to the cross, and not wanting to, plead with the Father, but finally said, "Your will be done."
Submission, obedience, love evidenced by keeping His Commandments [John14:21-24] and good works, deference to God's will, and desire to do His will are evidence of true love and thanksgiving. Saying "I did it MY way!" is the wrong way; adding "so be it" is the wrong attitude. Repentance matters!

The Christian faith is changing every day. My father is a reader in the church and he is open to all kinds of criticism from others and defends his faith sternly, but makes allowances for their doubting too. As for free will, this is no place to discuss that complicated subject. I'll say I am no Calvinist; I believe that people can become apostates [Heb6:4-6], or can be given up by God [Rom1:24-28; Rom11:8] without doing away with the concept of free will.

Christ Jesus separates all humans into two groups (John 8:24; 12:44-50):
(1) those who believe Him, love Him/keep His commandments (John14:21), and are saved;
(2) those who do not believe Him, do not love Him/break His commandments (John14:24), and are damned.
They are deceived (1Cor 6:9) who think they can abuse God's grace (Heb 6:4-6), daily disobeying Him (1Cor 7:10-11), and yet have salvation (Rev 3:5). Hell is reserved for those who do not love and obey God (Mark 10:22; Rev 20:11-15).

God says those who love Him keep His commandments (John14:23), and His commandments are not burdensome (1John5:3). Those who do not love Him do not keep His words (John14:24). People who are born of God do not continue sinning (1John3:9); people who continue sinning have not seen Him and do not know Him (1John3:6). You are so right. Jesus did die for our sins and He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Those are God's words. However, it is how you use the words that are important. God didn't say to use the Word as a way to bash God's children using them as you see fit as you don't know the believer's heart. Is there another way which you can be hear that doesn't involve attacking God's followers? We are saved by God's Grace, the God of the new testament. Otherwise we would still be Gentils and Jews (and other religions)

When Amy Grant sings about loving God, the obvious question to ask is: Then, why don't you believe Him and keep His commandments? However, if Jefferson ever expressly did not believe in God, he never wrote it down. The whole point is that it was about Jefferson's attitude towards slavery. He hated slavery as much as he claimed to in his writings.

Slavery was a part of him that he could not escape, and even he admitted that he literally did not know how to live without it. Maybe Christianity & religion was the same. Sorry if I offended you and others but I just want to express my personal views on religion and god. I do know some scientific literate people who believe in GOD and I spend sometime around them.

You didnt offend me whatsoever. I have also struggled with some of the things you mentioned. But your missing two factors; faith and the holy spirit. without those many things in the Bible are hard to believe. Just like I have a hard time believing the big bang theory and evolution.

Other than that I do not feel any contempt for anything Godly regarded as unworthy or inferior. I am just being open minded about this debate and sharing my views like I said before. If you cannot at least tag along with my opinions and be a little more open minded then we have a problem and I think thats where we are heading at.

If you believe that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree thats your belief but I disagree with that because it sounds very made up, not saying Jesus did not exist but the whole magic thing around it is well madeup tome

Over the years we have all been lied to by many false religous leaders and so called prophets. Many things we have been taught are not even in Scripture and millions have swallowed so many lies by these false leaders. Basically to this day Jesus Christ is the biggest well known legend that is still surviving and has roamed other gods out of existence, its a myth in my opinion, how can you force yourself to belive in something like this, like force your mind and heart without having any proof but evidence of just pure text

Hundreds of years before??? how hundreds of years before the romans believed in other gods, Egyptians had their Osiris God romans Mithras god and those two are in comparison with Jesus story their birth and death...how do you explain that these gods came before Jesus. emperor Constantine at this conversion that the Roman empire remained Christian forever. The countries of the western world are largely Christian today, because of Roman emperor Constantine's decision.

Jesus is just another god with the same stories as the previous gods. Christianity has borrowed ideas from other religions. The last supper with Jesus is borrowed from roman idea of their belief eating with the dead for respect, once christianity took over Jesus was put in the last supper and the story was changed. so before Jesus, Jesus was never mentioned...
