Human birth control is inevitable. China is doing it, India has already started programs to try to lower human population, it is in early stages. These things are good in general. The mindless population growth is at the root of most world problems, it can not be ignored.
Since we hit 300 million in Oct 2006 we have added over 8 million more people to our population. That is more then the population of New York City. Our population will double in less then 100 years. Over 80 percent of that growth is fro immigrants and their children. Ugh!!

People seem to forget that in order for our economy to continue to grow, so must the population. Capitalism requires a growth of consumers supported by a workforce.
Suffice it to say, the USA is the fastest industrialized country in the world with significnt population growth whereas the population of Europe and Russia is declining, China's population is steady, and India's is growing. But the USA has an advantage because our population is not aging as fast as other parts of the world.

We have plenty of immigrants who over the years we needed. Again, Irish building the railroads is my favorite example(My grandpas family came from Ireland). Alot of the workers who worked the farms were cheap foreigners.

I'm not too worried about legal immigrants that come into this country. We have the baby boomers retiring and that will put a huge burden on government social security/medicare and less workers. You cannot compare the immigration of today with the immigration of yesterday. For one, I think there's a difference in behavior between high IQ immigrants from Europe and low IQ immigrants from Africa, Mexico, etc.

Europe has only a growth rate of 1/2 to 1%, so it doesn't have to grow the population. If it were 3-5%, there would need to increase. But these "mature" societies can still have a freemarket economy, like Japan does. Let's put the cart behind the horse. It's reasonable to assume that economic growth should exist for the good of the population, not people increasing their numbers for the end result of increasing the GDP.
When the baby boomers retire we will need money going into the Social Security System - people making good wages and salaries who pay payroll taxes. We don't need a whole lot of people who themselves require tax dollars to feed and clothe themselves and their families. We don't need a whole lot of people who don't pay payroll taxes. We need better quality jobs. We need the rich who got tax breaks to pay their fair share - to pay back what they took from the social security surplus.
When I was born there was only 215 million people. If you live in the South or West, the growth is really shocking and hard. Lots of overcrowding. Esp. if you live like the typical American, this stuff is not sustainable. We need effective illegal/legal immigration control so we are only bringing in quality people who will benefit the economy, not diminish the standard of living.

Scott makes a good point - how many of the people in leadership roles have to deal with driving the 405 or 110 during peak travel times, which now constitutes most of the work day and well into the night. Which of these leaders send their children to our overcrowded public schools? And now that new schools have to be built, money that could have improved the quality of education is now being drained away for drywall and nails.
I agree with the last two responses. The politicos do not look at the damage that has been caused by unbridled immigration. I'll give one example, here in the Los Angeles area we have lost trauma centers due to the quantity of uninsured who used the centers not only for emergencies but for primary care. The illegals are generally not insured so guess who has contibuted to the closures...
I agree with mshear1. The quality of life in Los Angeles has been negatively impacted by the run amok immigration policies of the last two decades - increasing the levels of legal immigration AND refusing to enforce the immigration laws we currently have on the books.

People seem to forget that in order for our economy to continue to grow, so must the population. Capitalism requires a growth of consumers supported by a workforce.
Suffice it to say, the USA is the fastest industrialized country in the world with significnt population growth whereas the population of Europe and Russia is declining, China's population is steady, and India's is growing. But the USA has an advantage because our population is not aging as fast as other parts of the world.

Immigrants have always came to America to work, since the beginning of this country.
Our wages rose while immigration kept up. Industrial revolution showed the highest immigration numbers and wage increases in our history.
I don't see how you relate immigration, when we've had immigration since the late 1700s. Who built most of the railroads(Irish)? Wages rose.
Wages are falling now due to bad monetary policy and horrible government decisions. Offshoring jobs, deficits..etc.

We have plenty of immigrants who over the years we needed. Again, Irish building the railroads is my favorite example(My grandpas family came from Ireland). Alot of the workers who worked the farms were cheap foreigners.
In todays world, those cheap labor from Mexico run the Fast food companies, getting minimum wage that NOBODY wants.
Give immigrants the crappy jobs, I have no problem with that. Americans still have a great chance to go to college and get a good job. Don't be lazy.

I was referring to Americans who don't want crappy paying jobs. An immigrant has no problem taking that crappy paying job. Normal American families send there kids to college and they get a nice paycheck.
Work hard, save money for college, take loan out, and after you get that degree, there are good jobs on the market. The unskilled labor can continue to do the minimum wage jobs while you get paid much more.
It all comes down to being lazy. Job-College-better job. Very simple, work hard.

I'm not too worried about legal immigrants that come into this country. We have the baby boomers retiring and that will put a huge burden on government social security/medicare and less workers. You cannot compare the immigration of today with the immigration of yesterday. For one, I think there's a difference in behavior between high IQ immigrants from Europe and low IQ immigrants from Africa, Mexico, etc.
Secondly, America had almost zero welfare programs during the immigration waves of the 20th Century. Today, we have MILLIONS of immigrants (legal and illegal) who are receiving all sorts of public assistance. THEY are the burden, not the "baby boomers" who worked their whole lives.

Europe has only a growth rate of 1/2 to 1%, so it doesn't have to grow the population. If it were 3-5%, there would need to increase. But these "mature" societies can still have a freemarket economy, like Japan does. Let's put the cart behind the horse. It's reasonable to assume that economic growth should exist for the good of the population, not people increasing their numbers for the end result of increasing the GDP.

When the baby boomers retire we will need money going into the Social Security System - people making good wages and salaries who pay payroll taxes. We don't need a whole lot of people who themselves require tax dollars to feed and clothe themselves and their families. We don't need a whole lot of people who don't pay payroll taxes. When I was born there was only 215 million people. If you live in the South or West, the growth is really shocking and hard. Lots of overcrowding. Esp. if you live like the typical American, this stuff is not sustainable. We need effective illegal/legal immigration control so we are only bringing in quality people who will benefit the economy, not diminish the standard of living.

All countries should be expected by the world, to do their part to help absorb the naturally growing human race, by populating practically every country denser and denser with people, especially for the natural increase of their very own children.
Obviously, there are possible improvements in the patterns of growth, and countries should more welcome their own population perchance more people would populate "at home," but it really is for the progress and necessity of the human race.

A country should be expected to do its part in its own overpopulation. China for example, limits the number of children you can have. WHY?? Because it understands the strain it puts on its own resources. Mexico and these fucking amnesty people on the other hand feels that the U.S. should shoulder the burden for Mexico's 3 litters per family doctrine

No, a country "doing its part" would be for China to welcome its people to enjoy having their "traditionally very large" families ... in China.
Population accomodation is first the responsibility of families, communities, countries, and ultimately the world.
While people should be welcome to breed at home, countries should be welcome also populate into and merge into one another, to further enlarge the human race.

The Mexican political party PAN is holding meetings in California and other states. They are registering the party in the United States. In California today they were telling the illegals that Calderon and Fox (who I hear was actually there) were promising them United States citizenship. Our politicians aren't enforcing our laws, and trying to sneak amnesty bills into military funding bills. Don't you think its about time to stage a 20 million man march on D.C. to put an end to this shit?!

We should do our part, and set a good example for a growing world of people, by growing ourselves and showing the world how it is best done. To help the world welcome all the more people, of course nations should be encouraged to grow naturally, denser with more and more people.

We tell China that a one-child policy is barbaric. What if China responded, "If you also grew to over a billion people in the U.S., would you still say to allow large families?" The correct answer of course, would be Yes we would. Now that India also have over a billion people, the "population billionaire" club is growing, and we should be proud to join it, if and when we can.
There can come to be more places with lots of people and fewer places far from lots of people.

I think we should force him to house illegals in HIS house and see how great it is. He is one of those Flavor-Aide drinking supporters of "diversity" too. Translation, the tearing apart of the US by balkanization. Let's find out if he lives in a "diverse" neighborhood or not and call him on it (because I'm sure he doesn't.)

Scott makes a good point - how many of the people in leadership roles have to deal with driving the 405 or 110 during peak travel times, which now constitutes most of the work day and well into the night. Which of these leaders send their children to our overcrowded public schools? And now that new schools have to be built, money that could have improved the quality of education is now being drained away for drywall and nails.

I agree with the last two responses. The politicos do not look at the damage that has been caused by unbridled immigration. I'll give one example, here in the Los Angeles area we have lost trauma centers due to the quantity of uninsured who used the centers not only for emergencies but for primary care. The illegals are generally not insured so guess who has contibuted to the closures...

I agree with mshear1. The quality of life in Los Angeles has been negatively impacted by the run amok immigration policies of the last two decades - increasing the levels of legal immigration AND refusing to enforce the immigration laws we currently have on the books.

"Legal" immigration is the way to control a growing population. Assimilation, speaking English and pledging allegiance to the U.S. need to be manditory. Immigrants did this willingly last century. They are the kind of people America wants and needs. Otherwise they will bleed us dry of all that makes America the great nation it is. Don't agree? Find another place to live.
