"Nothing" is a completely unscientific concept, there is no such thing. It is also unscientific to assume that the big bang didn't have a catalyst. This is not possible. Something caused the big bang. Also, it's a mistake to think of the big bang as "creating" the universe. Prior to the big bang the universe existed but was infinitely small. The big bang was the universe rapidly expanding not blinking into being out of "nothing".

This is a good counter to the common, "but that's the OLD testament" response I get. It seems to allow a christian the ability to ignore certain parts of the old testament, which tends to have the most "wacky" verses in it with giants, talking donkeys, a man living in a fish for three days, etc. It typically comes from someone who reads the absurdities and atrocities and would have to genuinely admit they don't believe those verses.. This is a good counter to the common, "but that's the OLD testament" response I get. It seems to allow a christian the ability to ignore certain parts of the old testament, which tends to have the most "wacky" verses in it with giants, talking donkeys, a man living in a fish for three days, etc. It typically comes from someone who reads the absurdities and atrocities and would have to genuinely admit they don't believe those verses.. Personally, I took the latter, and was then able to critique my own beliefs as easily as I could critique the beliefs of other religions.

@TheNicholas03 The reason that anybody should care about your (or anybody's) 'unseen realm' claims is that people can and have committed terrible atrocities and visited all kinds of horrible violence and suffering in the name of these 'unseen realms' and the unseen gods that inhabit them. Your religion promotes hatred and violence. Thats a fact. The morality you choose to distill from your religion, by cherry picking, occurs in spite of the religion itself. You are more moral that your god.

jesus is so much love he said that you must hate your brothers and sisters in order to be a follower of him... is that love? or him saying that those who do not follow will be like kindling to a fire, is that love? is it love to let good hardworking innocent people like me who do no wrong burn forever for no reason then disbelief, but lets mass murders or rapist into heaven just because they repented love?

That's fine. But just because you want something to be true does not mean that it is. I wish that cancer didn't exist, but it does. To believe something just because it makes you feel fuzzy inside when you talk to it is intellecually dishonest.
2) Why would you want to believe in something you can't detect in any way? If you like that kind of thing, I have a pet invisible, incorporeal dragon for sale...

Is something moral because god says so or does god say so because something is moral? Define perfection. And if you can demonstrate that the bible is trustworthy.

@MrKingjohnrocks The thing Mr. gphhawkins is purposely ignoring is that mankind is capable of intelligently designing a car that we can drive on the highway with gravity holding it down, but gravity doesn't design the car. Atheists are saying gravity formed the earth out of star debris they won't account for ~ where matter & energy originally came from. They presume it. They also presume unintelligent matter and energy can expand into a brilliant minded Universe above man's design abilities.

I'm dealing with what Atheists are telling me regularly. Your comrades say GRAVITY FORMED THE EARTH FROM STAR DEBRIS. They do not say where matter and energy come from. My example of the intelligent design by man of the car works to prove gravity only holds it down. Thats all gravity does for the earth.

@gphhawkins Atheists believe that we are the result of evelution and the big bang.I disagree,now let us understand that the islamic religon does not have any problem with the Big bang. Islamic religon does not deny that the big bang happened.The islmaic religon also teaches that the big bang was under control of the creator(Jesus christ/god/allah) Now I'm not islamic,I'm just pointing out facts.

@gphhawkins To begin with the big bang did not start with the explosion,the big bang started long before.Before the explosion there was a primortial dust cloud,a dust cloud in the NOTHINGness of space.With a massive hyperdense core of massive energy.And it was that that exploded.So..Where did this dust cloud come from?Where did the primortal dust come from?Where did the energy come from for this explosion?Contuine.
