My Churches Choir sung this song around 1979,,on a regular basis,,always brought the house down!,, breakin heels,, messin up hairdos,,police gettin called cause the neighbors complain about noise LOL They didnt know nuttin bout what we wuz talkin bout!!
Back on Langley there was a time many of the women in the choir wore their hair up in a ball much like this video..For a second it was their trade mark..In those dayz the choir was Not To Be Touched..Before Allen started directing their was Melvin Johnson..He was a hit..
My mom took me to the Langley location one time, but we were young kids. I returned when I was grown to Cottage Grove in the 80's and joined. Thank you Father for helping me grow into a man. The choir has always been good.
you got that right...dawk0 is just another bitter one who was raised wrong...no need to pay him any attention, ask him who he's talking about, or anything. we dont have time to deal with that non sense everybody
Nope..1973 or 1974..They did a 45 and a few independent projects..If you're in Chicago go to New Sound Gospel to get some of the older project all on 1 cd.
no sweety cosmo started recording way back in the 60's but it was in the 70's when charles clency brought a young man by the name of shelby wills to the church to take his place that cosmo really got put on the map thank God for shelby wills
They did a couple of albums but the one i can remember is a song called take it to the lord in prayer which is on there curent project they just released entitled chapter one.
Take It To The Lord In Prayer was recorded in "1975" on the SAME album as the 1st Nobody Can Turn Me Around which Albertina Walker presented them on..I own that project..Not to be a know it all, but NONE of their earlier projects were recorded in in the 60's..I have EVERY project from 45's to LP's that they did thru the 90's..
Michelle Brown was great! The Cosmopolitan church of the 60's was 2nd only to First Church of Deliverance. I remember when both choirs would perform on Langley, there was no place to park for blocks.
I wish that I was around back in those days. I love the Chicago church choirs of yester year! Where you ever about of one? What church on Langley are you talking about?
Cosmopolitan Church was located at 6315 S. Langley from about 1961 to 1976. They had church back in those days. The broadcast was standing room only every Sunday. Like I said before, when 1st Church and Cosmo got together there was no parking anywhere and they surely jammed. I used to go to the broadcast every Sunday during the summer since I was on vacation from school. We were allowed to sit in the choirstand back in those days. The church was called Universal Kingdom of Christ.
Yes this is when the warriors were young dianne was almost singing soprano and could sing non stop she would sing two songs in one sessions and give all she had on them love this choir and NO ONE HAS BETTER ROBES than the warriors the have more robes than any choir I have seen in gospel music and some of the sharpest robes also well there's always james cleveland and souther california mass choir 2nd place lol
Yeah!!! This is on the Heaven Is My Goal album right? Do you have them singing Everytime I Feel the Spirit? I keep hearing about the song and album. I think I heard Cosmo's version on a movie with Queen Latifah.
Yes, you heard it on "The Last HOliday" starring Queen Latifah and LL Cool J. The choir is my sister's choir, the Ebenezer Baptist Church Radio Choir of New Orleans (I posted some of their videos). We filmed and recorded that for the movie.
This is on two of their VERY VERY early albums. A studio version and then they did a LIVE version. The live version is on the double album with Pray For Me.. (teeny weeny lil bit song). They're really old though.. probably the early 80s.
@ChiOne07 you are so right

cant help thinking that white churches would be a LOT fuller if gospel was sung rather than those dreadful hymns i was subjected to.

this song is on the 1979 pray for me album. why did michelle stop singing with the choir?
jholyghosthead 4 years ago
Thats because there are two recordings of it. The first one was a studio version. The one on Pray for Me is the second and LIVE version
ChiOne07 4 years ago
@jholyghosthead I think Michelle "retired" from the Warriors. You know they travel an awful lot.
