Four-hourly feeding of newborns. This can cause distress for the infants and can cause significant problems for mothers establishing breastfeeding. Leaving babies to cry and limiting contact. This is known to create psychological problems both in childhood and later life, in particular with confidence, adjustment and coping with stress.Placing babies in their own room from birth. A baby charity observed that this doubled the risk of sudden infant death syndrome.
My mother says that her first child was pampered and was awkward and difficult. The second child was disabled and by the time she had the third she had no time to pamper or mollycoddle, the baby had to fit in with the regime of the other family members and she (my little sis) was the easiest, calmest and most placid baby of all. Pandering to your baby is asking for trouble, and having a strict routine does not equate to neglect.
shut up. i had a baby the same time this was on and i used the tough love option. she did not suffer any neglect and the fact that at the end of you trailer you are showing the NSPCC advert is comical. people who neglect or abuse their children will do it no matter what is shown on the TV. how can you judge the consquences of this way of thinking if you have never used it!
Oh and lots of people smoke and they are fine! But neuroscientists know these causes lifelong harm, basically brain damage. The brain is developing at it's fastest rate, when a baby is tressed (by being left to cry) this effects how the brain wires up...numerous mental health experts can prove this has life long negative consequences, mental illness, addictions, violence....
The NSPCC condemned this programme. It prmoted neglect, it's a shame so many lack the foresight to understand.
I did watch this series and the 'expert' encouraging mothers to leave their babies to cry has now been widely discredited. I can only hope that the parents and/or children in this programme will sue the 'expert' and the programme makers for their complete disregard for these infants' mental health and welfare.
Too true. Televised neglect, inciting child abuse is not entertainment and not a parenting option that should ever be offered, considered let alone undertaken by anyone on tv or not!
don't judge a documentary by it's trailer ;-) I saw this one on channel 4 and it was fascinating. Does anyone know whether the full documentary is available to view?
anyone know where i can see the actual documentary?
I can´t seem to find it on youtube thanks!
