I could understand how people could compare battle royale to the hunger games, but people have to understand that many books and movies are similar. And the only thing thats similar is how people get killed, but that happens in stories like the lottery too. Sequel was good. But it went a separate direction from the original. It expanded on the rage the audience naturally felt towards the adults in the film and turned Shuya and the survivors into a terrorist unit. The game continues as usual, but this time, the goal is to snuff out Shuya and the survivors. Midway through the game, we begin to see the movie through the eyes of Shuya again. And cheer him on as he expresses bitterness through AK47s and a whole lot of violence.

Lol..since when do asians sound and/or speak Spanish? Or should I say japanish or spanese? The original movie with subtitles is the best alternative way (besides understanding Japanese ) to watch this movie and also the best way to enjoy it in it's original intended entirety. I loved this movie, eversince I first watched it in 2000. I heard an American version is in the works. But then again, I first heard that wayyyy back in 2002.

Many of the distributors here in America wanted to release it but TOEI was asking too much for the DVD sales. Basically, the big movie companies (Universal, Paramount, Etc.) didn't want to put out a controversial movie such as BATTLE ROYALE and a lot of the smaller companies couldn't handle the steep 1 to 2 million dollar price tag TOEI had put on the DVD sales. It all just came down to Toei being stupid...
