  • Dear opé, How come avenue blocks are long and street blocks short? . Would it be better, other that for Manhattanhenge, that the blocks were square? Do you think? or are oblongs better? . Thanks for posting. . Cheers. from, del-boy.
  • Ahh man, once I was in New York on those dates, and I can't believe I didn't get any shots!

    Stonehenge in Saxony

  • really really great

  • Shouldn't this be called Manhattan Equinox?

  • I do love NYC.

  • Great concept and execution.

  • So lovely. I was already impressed with it as a science film -- brilliant fast-forwarding through each block to get to the next intersection -- and then a random small beautiful thing happened on the street in front of you which you had the presence of spirit to stay on. This film is a gift.

  • nice lights

  • If you like this video, you might also like my photo on Flickr. Can't post URL here so just search for manhattan solstice seeminglee :)

    Awesome job!

    Cheers,

    See-ming

  • Very nice video. It's interesting all that things that happen as one passes by. I liked the moments you hiighlighted. And the sun was brillint that day. Well done.

  • Very moving and a great idea. Good job!

  • a moving little film about what can be seen as a rather stultifying part of town. coincidence helps new yorkers get through the day with sanity intact. even midtown (with its grid, its hordes of anonymous workers/shoppers/tourists, its nondescript buildings, and its chain stores) affords chance encounters of the sort that will cheer you if you are properly open to them.

  • new york looks like a big city with lots of people in it is the impression i get from this. there are gaps between the buildings that light gets through. in new york city people will stop to help you pick up things you might have dropped. i like happy endings. nice work, open wound.

  • good film, I've seen this before in person in and it is cool. cool cover song, too. who is it?

  • Cover of Tears for Fears' "Mad World" performed by Michael Andrews featuring Gary Jules, originally for soundtrack of Donnie Darko.

  • oh, yeah, i knew it sounded familiar. good choice.

have you seen Y's tomato? it's my only post.

  • this information will be useful to the post apocalyptic tribes that rule the island in the year 2099 . . . or they can relax by the side of the river with a 40 and watch their sun god descend each day.
