  • the woman singer that stand at fredi right side (the black hair woman) look alike zooey deschanel! what's her name?

  • @harry10313 Titta Jokinen:)

  • mitähän toi kiharapää on vetäny ku on niin vauhissa? OLiko sillon redbullia?

  • Best Finnish entry ever alongside Lordi!

  • @Dinah35 very true :)

  • 70s Finland's answer to Elbow (albeit with more sex appeal)

  • this is scarey

  • the girls have rather advanced jump suits for the 70s - i keep expecting to see plenty camel-toe but its never there...

  • Look at the girl right in left to Fredi! She is very happy to be in Eurovision!

  • Is that Ned Flanders on the left? :-))

  • "Finlandia - Pamp pamp" lol

  • Well, in English, pumping people's bottoms gives a bit different meaning than bumping, which may be more closer to the original meaning...according to the chaste interpretation. Well, the ambiguity might be intentional, also in the Finnish version.

  • @magi1969 Indeed! Well-put.

  • @tasosk3 Mackie to the rescue! This song ( imo ) was a rendition/copy/to its inspiration from "The Bump" a dance which was very popular in the UK around 1974 - if you want to hear it search bay city rollers the bump - when you sing "do the bump, do the bump" you bumped bums!!

  • @MrEurocat And since they didnt want to make it too obvious they changed it slightly to Pump Pump! I thank you!

  • @magi1969 Put your bottom next to mine, pump-pump

There's that something in it... ay ay ay...

  • Siis mieletöntä... kova meno tolla Koivistolaisten toisella sisaruksella (en muista kumpi se) joka Fredin ja Titta Jokisen kanssa on etualalla. Titta ottaa vähä rauhallisemmin, mut toi Koivistolainen on iha maniassa....

  • Tämä on varmaan suomen parhain euroviisu historian laulu.

Suomea aliarvioidaan liikaa, johtunee varmaan rajanaapureiden väheisyydestä tjs.

Voisin kuunnella tätä laulua vaikka koko päivän. :D

  • A Eurovision classic. Without entires like this in Eurovision, the contest would be boring. :D

  • välijuonnot kuulostaa yhtä älykkäiltä kuin nykyäänkin

  • voi ku ankeeta:D

  • this song should be winner of 2010 (and it would be (; )

  • Titta Jokinen ?

  • the best finnish entry ever !!!!!!

  • I would like to elaborate. If there ever was a guilty pleasure for me, this is the one, and then some. It's actually a catchy and well-written song. What really sells it, though, is the performance. This is how you give a 100% performance if vocal is not your main selling point. During our NF this year (2010), this clip was shown to demonstrate backing singers who are really into it :D And they (rightly) mentioned the curly-haired woman. I just love her, she looks like she's upstaging everybody.

  • @setheurovision94 LOL Seth's taste hits rock bottom! You are now officially relegated to Div 2 or Serie B of the Euro-commentators here on YT.

This is the type of song that certain "Euro-Snobs" on YT turn their nose up at - esp when this type of song is often presented by the UK. As opposed to the "classical" Italian entry. Its very 1970s but its just not very well done for thsi type of tune. Maybe you just like big men - chubby chaser :)

  • @MrEurocat I suppose it was naive of me not to see that coming. You can hardly deny, though, that nobody has managed this level of camp since. :P

  • @setheurovision94 Oh I dont know...how about the absolutely dreadful UK 2007 entry "Flying The Flag" ........camp & dreadful........not even funny!

  • @MrEurocat As usual, I fail spectacularly in getting my point across:

Scooch - dreadful and not funny.

Fredi & Friends: camp AND catchy and funny

Hence, "Pump Pump" is an example of Eurovision camp being for the better.

  • @setheurovision94 Or maybe its me! Im pretty thick you know!

  • @setheurovision94 This is a clip of Pump-Pump. In 1976 I didnt even understand 'camp'. As a 16 yr old in a totally different era I found this a fun, quirky & happy song that I really enjoyed, and still do, end of. I rate all ESC on their own merits, and within a given year rank them against each other. So I see every aspect of this song within the context of life in 1976 & ESC 76. Glad you enjoy it!

  • This is far and away my favourite Finnish entry. He has a hell of a voice has Fredi!

  • C'mon, Fredi was good enough to write '79 entry "Katson sineen taivaan".

  • Confessing mutual citizenship with these creatures is a burden nearly too heavy to carry. Nearly ashamed to death 30 years ago, and still feeling the pain today!

  • Whats ned flanders in the grey doing.

  • Apparently, he's letting his hip go hippety pump pump.

  • voi jeeeesus..!

  • Absolutely brilliant !! Can't say more, just absolutelty brilliant !! LOVE IT !!!

  • Är det här verkligen finland? Deras bästa bidrag? En glad låt! Väldigt annorlunda finland. Vilken placering fick de?

  • Mitäs helvettiä?

  • he's a big lad!

  • Thanks for posting this full length version, we saw this clip being in the UK on Channel 4 as part of their '50 worse tv shows' night. This song was picked out as typifying the cheesiness of Eurovision, but I say it shows it at its best!!! Others have mentioned the grinning pianist and that crazy lady having the time of her life to Freddi's right! They guy in the tank-top/vest looks likes a 1970s teacher/lecturer. Where are they now! Brilliant - Finland should have won!

  • All time Eurovision classic up there with Nicole and Hugo!

  • I can't get enough of this one. Fredi is about 9ft tall, the two backing singers off at the right look like they have no idea what they're doing - not that anyone does - but boy is this a classic.

  • ese pianista.......................

  • Comment removed

  • This has everything a great Eurovision entry should have; a grinning pianist, thigh slapping, thinly veiled references to sex, a male backing singer looking uncomfortable with the choreography, female backing singers giving it their all, a grand fat bloke, and jollity and bouncyness in abundance... an all round classic!

  • Eipa ihme etta tasta tehdaan vielakin jokeja Britti TV:ssa.Rakastan kylla Fredia yleensa.

  • ihanku Homer Simpson ja Ned Flanders laulais yhessä :D

  • XD God! The blonde girl is great! Especially at 3:53! I won't say: "Great song" because it isn't, but somehow it makes me happy =)

  • Ihan loistava helmi kuten mrsraikkonen sanoi ^^

Muistan kun Fredi oli kova sana meil kotona kun olin pentu :D

En ollutkaan kuullut kuin suomenkielisen version.

  • LOL the guy on the piano is hilarious!!! He reminds me of Jack Black for some reason. And the lady to Fredi's left, she's giving it all she's got!!! This is an absolute gem!

  • i know which one i'd shag first...

  • totaalinen reps kops XD

  • Tämä on se vuosi, kun lehdessä lööpattiin että: "Pusu voitti pyllyn!"

  • Just tried to repatty be-teepaty pump pump and laced my knickers! oops

  • vittuku on kauhee

  • vittu toi kikkarapää on hullu! :D ja on kyl vähä suomenki musa jutut vaihtunu..

  • HAHAHAHAHAH. Vittu vähä innostuu tos lopus, seuratkaa tota pianon soittajaa, ja tota kikkarapäist. Ollaa me suomalaiset aika junttei.

  • strongly agree with danistav- i just love it- and i know i shouldnt- it's just wrong!

  • tyhmää enkkus suomen kielinen on paljo parempi

  • Meno yltyy jo pelottavan rajuksi loppua kohden... Varsinkin toi kikkarapäänainen on ihan transsissa :DD

    Ihana kappale!

  • its so wonderfully awfull, lol, they are so cute, the most uneven dance i ever saw ,everyone for himself, damn thats funny, i remember seeing it at the time, was funny then and still is ,a classic! douz point from israel :-)

  • Hirveän ihanan ihan hirveetä!! :D

  • la cancion mas graciosa y simpatica de eurovision

    en k posicion qedo?

  • Actually this song did get points! it got 44.

I flipping love this. You couldn't paridy Eurovision better than this song does. It is hilarious and joyful in every way. From the mental smile of the pianist through to the drug-crazed dancing of the girls in pink, to the hilarious backing singers clothing and Fredi's pumping!

I only just picked myself up off the floor.

  • Some of the women's dancing is brilliant, I can't take my eyes off them....

  • As you say deanrearthings - you couldnt parody it better, the guy on the right looks like its Harry Enfield taking the piss.

Wasnt Eurovsion great fun before synthesisers and Stock Aitken & Waterman came along? (and Eastern Europe for that matter - tho we cant really blame them for having no sense of humour can we?)

  • Cheerful indeed! I love this! :D

  • it's a bit like a spoof though not meant to be which gives it it's magic.

  • 12 points to finland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have always liked this video and the song, they deserved at least the 2nd award!! I have a friend that must be twins with the girl on the left!

  • sorry but that is not true at all. Finland came 11th with this song with 44 points.

  • an absolute classic, makes me smile every time lol x

  • If this transmission ever reaches a hostile alien race, they will attack immediately.

  • Tata naytettiin visailusssa Briteissa ja kilpailijoiden piti arvata mista maasta........ihan ok artikuloivat, kun vertaa joihinkin muihin.

  • great

  • Haa you gotta love it! Although I don't see the point on the two people on the right....

but still its such an immense song lol :)

  • The worst thing about this otherwise so-so middle-road eurovision-trash is the fact that the others besides Fredi can´t really sing. Fredi should had aimed his contemporary hit and a stunning love song "Avaa sydämesi mulle" ("Open your heart to me") to these watched-by-a-hundred-million-festivals.

  • noooooooooooooo!!!!! Lavaesiintuminen on kerrassaan nerokasta!!! Just genious x)

  • voi tätä häpeän päivää...

  • Im from finland. Finnish are not like this ;D

  • My ancestors were Finnish, so thank goodness!

  • Hyvä suomi! :)

  • The guy in blue looks like a real life Ned Flanders!

  • Only green shirt needed.

  • Someone please assure me the guy on the right isnt Harry Enfield...

  • No, his name is Aimo Lehto.

  • Hyvä!

  • I let my hip go hippety-pump-pump...

...and I had to see a doctor afterwards.

  • Well you must be very fragile...

  • Actually isn't the correct title "Pump Pump", not "Bump Bump"?

  • Once more, I have to thank you for correcting me, my friend - I'll fix this right away!

  • Really nice, happy song ! I am proud about this- Finnish Markku

  • so great (l)

  • everything that is wrong about eurovision is demonstrated here

  • and can you actually refer me to a song that demonstrates any of the good things about it?

i think this is great, fun and colourfull - the way it should be.

  • And equally, everything that made it fun!

  • got any idea where can i get this song? all i can find is the finnish version. kindy catchy, if a little bit camp

  • Esta cancion es inolvidable, junto a la ganadora es la que mas se recuerda de aquel festival y una de las mas divertidas de los 70

  • Yep, forget "Mata Hari"; this is the king of campiness in '76. It's an odd song, because if you cut out the chorus the song might get a much more serious tone to it. But then the 'has-to-be-heard-to-be-believed' chorus kicks in...
