Deep Purple didn't want to do this song. One of the reasons Ritchie left (see: Ian the asshole) But if you listen to the album 'Strombringer', Ritchies last with Purple, They sound very similar. Do you think so?
Rainbow was and is my all time favourite band, this is going to sound really selfish but i like being one of the only people in my school to know about them. Makes me feel.. i dunno special? Linkin park is so commercial that you need not seek them out, it's being spoon fed to you by mass advertising so people just go with it. RIP Dio.
Who cares whether the media was quiet or didn't care about Dio's death. They wouldn't have done any justice to him anyways. God knows they would just waste time with parts of his life that had nothing to do with his legacy.
This album is so awesome it's not even funny anymore. By far the Greatest work Dio ever did (okay maybe not that high above Heaven and Hell). And certainly a high top 10 of the year.
in an interview i believe i watched on youtube Dio said "...it`s enough to make a video with Madona or some rapper to get famous these days..." and he was right...
anyways the "popular" music nowadays lack what this (and many other classic rock songs) have...this is a song with its own soul that will continue to inspire people long after we die
I just love these boogie woogie ditties they crafted there, its the kind of music that gets you up on your feet to stomp and dance! I have often found myself quoting a line or an entire song Ronnie sang, he's just so damn profound!
He was the King and the GOD of the Hard Rock/Heavy Metal genre. The man was the sweetest badass you will ever find.
Yesterday my best friend told me he thought Linkin Park was rock and that, I quote, "...'Rainbow' are a bunch of posers with a gay name" ...Now I have no best friend...
@SuperGlooBand : It's remarkable that the organ riffing of the Quatermass version wasn't adopted by Blackmore (maybe too Purple-sounding at the time?) Having RJD singing with that organ/drum rhythm would have been an instant classic IMHO.
Bands like this paved the road and todays bands are simply driving down that road, for the most leaving only skid marks from running into the ditch because they simply cannot follow the road blazed by the greats of the 70's and 80's.
I wish some new old school bands would explode onto the scene and get back to the roots of rock n roll instead of coughing up loogies on the microphone.
@intensetornado You might like White Wizzard , Cauldron , Enforcer or Wolf they are all great new bands who will hopefully resurect the old school Rock'n'roll
honestly? im quite mad that more ppl know about Linking Park (and other bands that had no influence in music) than Ronnie James Dio, when he died, the media was 2 quiet. the king has died and nothing... keep rockin where ever you r, u r still the god 2 me. love you Ronnie. R.I.P.
@ustanimo Yeah it's terrible how the media ignored Dio in life and in death.I heard of dio's death almost imediately because of internet. Was actually searching that morning to try and get a health update on him.I really thought Id find some good news. Then I started seeing Dio RIP.Searched more and found the awfull truth.I seen My sister 2 months later. who I had taken to see heaven and hell the summer before. She wasnt even aware he died. She said"I read the paper everyday
When Ronnie died, it wasn't just another tabloid death. For those of us who truly understood what Ronnie stood for, what he was, it had a huge impact which no media could ever convey.
@ustanimo Lol with all do respect..Linkin Park is a great band..But Hey Dio is Dio..I understand what you mean..But LP has very big infullence in music. And I think you mixing some bands......Well anyways..RIP Dio...Rock on ...
@blakapa Why are you even mentioning linkin park. They suck ass and they are not worthy for Dio's superior throne, even if this is just a youtube page.
@ustanimo I know what you mean. This one band slipknot, their bassist had died and I'd never even listened to them once. I heard the same news at least twnety times that day. Come to find out they were TERRIBLE a core band. YECH! Ahhhh but I started listening to DIO and didnt even know he was dead until i started coming across RIP DIO, my first reaction "NOOOO DIO DIED!?!?! I wish I wouldve known sooner, no matter because hes still the same man today as he was ten years ago. A singing god.
@ustanimo I got pissed with that because when Micheal Jackson (no disrespect to the man) died, the news kept showing it for like 6 months. When Dio died, news casters barely said a word about it. I found out that he died 3 days after his death!! And Dio is a much more talented singer than MJ!!!
@ustanimo to me, ronnie is a major role model for heavy metal, who care about the media or these kids listiening to linkin park and what else they listen to, to us real rockers, it was a very sad day to hear the news of dio's passing, who cares if mj got more publicity, dio fans don't need it
@ustanimo Sometimes the ones that aren't known very well are way better than the ones that are. The ones that are not very well known don't do this stuff for the money. They do it the way music should be made, to entertain and please their fans without slapping a piece of crap poem on the paper, and turn it into the song
Deep Purple didn't want to do this song. One of the reasons Ritchie left (see: Ian the asshole) But if you listen to the album 'Strombringer', Ritchies last with Purple, They sound very similar. Do you think so?

I like so much this song. I love the Quatermass version too, but this has got something special... Maybe the swing of Dio's great voice.
I'm italian, you know that Dio is italian for God, so in italian my sadness sounds like "God is dead.."
Rest in Peace
