Yes this is very legitimate that it will happen with the fryer its very common to have this type of fire being broke out where the possibilities are quite high in such situations like the oil spilling onto the fire due to its overfill and on the other hand in-properly thawed turkey will most likely end up being on fire in a very hot oil fryer so the basics are that it is very dangerous to have the fryer as a source of cooking but no wonder it makes turkey good! everyone its your call be safe!
If you've ever wondered which of your relatives are cool, just set your house ablaze with a turkey fryer. The ones that try to help and call 911 are keepers.
@pooniman1 I hope you are kidding. Last year, turkey fryers were responsible for 62 fires and millions of dollars worth of damage. I think the 20 pound turkey is worth the waste to save lives and homes.
I've already read several negative comments about this. People have been doing this for years in the South. I knew all that stuff the guy recommended since I was a kid. If you know how to do it you're safe and it tastes great.

They are basically weapons of mass destruction. In medieval times burning oil was launched at enemy troops

It happens every year. People still burn down their houses with this fryer.

Turkey fryers would be great for people on Survivor that don't know how to start a fire. Call Jeff Probst.

It's not just black people. My mexican father likes to fry his turkey too. ;]
It's kind of superbly delicious. And if you drain it right and get all of that grease off... BOMB. So good.

ha, ha I know someone who used a welders mask and protective uniform when using the fryer
ninanwk69 2 years ago
this sounds like something that a black person would come up with. Problably though the big bird was a big chicken and tried to fry it up.

seems a bit dangerous, and I'm not planning on setting a fire in my garage either.

just watch the fried turkey segment that alton brown did for his show "good eats" on the food network. explains everything way better than this guy.

Fried turkey is soooo moist though. All that juice that escapes when it's baked gets trapped inside.
One of the important parts is using the right injection, and as this video states, watching the fryer temp.
