Gold and silver. I'm saving for farm land. That will be my retirement. Also stocking tools to build a house from the land. Rethink your suburban/urban life. It's just a debt trap. Bullcrap. There is always a balance in this world. Everything always balances. If one country is living in conditions extremely higher then other people then the scale is not balanced. The only way to have balance returned to have the people who once had very poor living conditions to have the same higher conditions of living that the previous country enjoyed. Eventually there will be another balance hopefully one where there is a very large middle class which I think is likely for now.

How will this increase in military spending be funded? Printing dollars? Nobody in their right mind will continue to loan money to the US government. Also, keep in mind that China now controls the US. They can control our policies by threatening to dump our bonds and unloading dollars.
I agree that the rest of the world is in trouble short term. After a painful adjustment from the loss of the American consumer, my guess is that China's economy will fuel recovery for the rest of the world.

Essentially it would be an internet polling economy. If you want something you let your desire known by voting for it on some centralized website. I'm sure there are many problems with drive and motivation in such an economy. There would likely be less risk taking and entrepreneurship which would cause innovation & efficiency to stagnate and the economy would suffer.
After seeing all the problems with socialism and communism, I'd prefer to stay well clear of any centralized system.

wrong, not the end of capitalism. what people fail to understand is that during the boom, demand became artificially high, so we need to get back to reality. think about it... say you bought 3 cars on the way up, and now you stop buying cars, and other people did this too, demand eventually will decline because you don't need a 4th car. do you see, cheap easy money created the false demand on the way up. having the government buy cars to keep demand up will only make the matter worse
