  • how do I become a tanker!!!!!!!?????

  • I have a question: I read that the M1 can be completely sealed up to be NBC-proof. When it is, and the gun is fired, can any radiation from the outside leak in when the breech is opened? Thanks for answering and thanks for serving; God bless you.

  • @theman5901 When the NBC system is running it overpressurizes the interior so that nothing can get in even through the open breech.

  • @gtatejr Thanks very much for answering, man. Also, when you're in an NBC combat scenario, and you have the tank all sealed up, do you guys inside still have to wear suits, I mean like just in case your tank got disabled and you had to get out and fight as infantry? Thanks again for helping me clear all this stuff up.

  • why don't the 120mm shells have to get pulled out when the breech is opened?

  • @thecubansniper1 the majority of the casing is made of a combustible material and burns up when the round is fired, leaving only a small stub called an "aft-cap".

  • Goddamn sexy breech block.

  • @gtatejr Oh! I was thinking its when it's fired inside the tank and the dust gets loose after the round is fired. I also thought just because you held them you got poisoned. But that's good! Thanks for letting me know.

  • @NeonVars DU penetrator on the SABOT rounds are cased in steel to prevent them from shattering once they hit.

  • @kovona the DU penetrators are encased in an aluminum casing that provides aerodynamic stability in flight, the DU itself is one of the hardest metals around.

  • @gtatejr Hardest means also the most brittle. Any sort of penetrator or AP rounds in general needs to be sheathed or capped in a softer metal to prevent it from shattering like glass upon initial impact on the hard surface of armour.

  • I heard that tank crew members can get serious desieses from using Depleted Uranium rounds. The gamma rays and radiation can poison you for life, thus causing you to get sick and or have a child with severe birth defects. That's the only thing holding me back from becoming a tanker.

  • @NeonVars the only time the DU is dangerous is when it is fired and hits a target and even then the only danger is breathing the dust particles it leaves behind.

  • @gtatejr if you use that screen to aim what is the little telescope looking thing next to it for?

  • I heard you can get radiation poisoning from using Depleted Uranium rounds. Thus causing a child having severe birth defects. That's the only thing holding me back from becoming a tanker.

  • good

  • Pros: Armored, a 120 mm rifled barrel, accurate, fast, and 74 tons of fully loaded ass kicking.

Cons: Hot, cramped, bumpy ride, heavy weaponry.

I loved the m1, it's a great machine. I was a gunner from 96-97. I didn't get to use it in battle but I know that machine inside and out. Still have my manual for the damn thing. I suggest that you are not tall. I'm 5'8", any taller it would have been to tight of a fit. Good luck, who-ah!!

  • @jlistak214 its not rifled its a smooth bore gun but it shoots a group 8 inches big and round and ore penatration then a rifled gun

  • lol

  • I want to be a part of a tank crew and advice? like pros/cons, wisdom?

  • manual reload : /

  • What is the difference between the M1A1 and the M1A2?

  • Its almost as real as battlefield 3

  • The people over at EA did a really good job of replicating the inside of an M1A2 in Battlefield 3 :)

  • So have they finally put a/c in these things yet? Or do the poor bastards inside cook like sardines still?

  • why you are still loading shells by hands?

  • @ra30r Reliability. Fewer mechanical parts to break, plus an extra set of hands to help with mainenance.

  • wow that looks so similar to our Merkava 4. Although we don't fire as many live rounds, that gunner fired an Israeli's year's worth of live rounds in this single drill.

  • Brings a tear to my eye.

  • Who is firing the machine gun?

  • Jeeze! And loader announcing up before the ready rack door is closed. That must suck in Kuwait tho having to wear the od green nomex. U guys didn't get the desert tan at least?

  • Hit loader.... And gunner. 30 pt crew cut :) announced on the way before UP was given. Loader was fast he just needs to pay attention

  • GREAT GERMAN ENGINEERING.

  • Awesome stuff. I knew a few tank commanders in my time. Good dudes.

  • Retrain loader.

  • that guy loads it like a professional badass

  • Where those sabots?

  • training

  • @Swertinge07 there's a good point. A loader can forget a step...And remember a fraction of a second later. If the same happens with a machine, it usually denotes a critical malfunction

  • What's the whining noise coming from?

  • @GeimtimeProductions that's the sound of the hydraulic system, it gets a bit annoying after awhile.

  • @GeimtimeProductions Complain much? Everything Tanks, Helis, Jets they are high tech and ill tell you i was a Co-Pilot of a Ah-60 blackhawk and they have this Weeing noise and you hear it every second while flying.

  • @518735 im not complaining i was just wondering. and i was thinkning about joining and i would like to be a helicopter pilot or work with tanks.. so i was just curious

  • O.o thats alot of shock coming from the cannon! the screen actually gets all fuzzy that you cant see anything! never expected that...

  • @Frostybrownman. I don't know where you get your fact but the T-series take about 3.5-4 seconds to put a round in and send it down range. They are well known to be very reliable.

  • @knifegun101 Never can be as reliable as a human loader...just a fact of engineering and mechanics.

  • @DACFalloutRanger As you see in the video the loader forgets to arm the gun at one point...

  • The loader is fast! :)

  • those are nice tanks and are accurate

  • What's the rate of fire?

  • @valttu94

Depends on how good your loader is. Most really outstanding loaders can reload in about three seconds. That's door opened, round in breech, closed and armed, ammo door closed, loader seated and outta the way of the breech.

Compare that to Russian T-series auto loaders that take anywhere from 8-10 seconds. The auto loaders are prone to mechanical problems too. A T-90 quickly becomes a paper weight with auto loader problems.

  • so does the loader fire the gun of the gunner?

  • @mrwxyz101 Loader loads and arms, gunner shoots. Don't know if the M1 crews train for man down (not necessarly dead or wounded, just 3 and 2 man) ops like the M60 crews did.

  • @Robbob9933 thanks man cuz to me it looked like the loader fired the cannon on the gunners command, thanx i didnt know that.

  • @Shitraver Newport pleasure no matter what your doing

  • looks like fun commanding this tank!

  • can someone explain to me why so many youtube watchers pefers a leopard 2 thank instead of this tank, i prefer it simply cause its combat proven, it has beter "stats" on paper than a leo, exept fuel and gunnery range. and a leo 2 is also lager in size so its a bigger target, and its noisy, and i know for a fact its engine is not reliably. its the same that is usen by fish farm boats and its long gun is usless in tight spaces. and dont come with a "german enginers are beter" cause they are not

  • @panzerstrelok

they only hear leopard is best on military channel and are too lazy to look at facts

  • @SaintsSpecOps @Panzerstrelok

Agree with Saint. But, the Leo's are good tanks.

  • WHAT THE FUCK lol, ah i remember good times in the abrams, i was also the loader, saw a guy get hit by that thing, it grazed him, but it broke a few ribs

  • it looks very roomy in there. would you like to live in there!

  • Would hurt to get by that thing flying back

  • did i hear someone say epend all ammunition? if so man what great order that must be.

  • quick question, what are the pros and cons of an autoloader compared to a human loader. I can think that humans are more reliable, but auto loader might be faster depending.

  • @dearhboy You are right, human loaders are both more reliable and easier. The M1 was initially tested with auto loaders and GDLS decided they weren't worth it, since auto loaders require lots of maintenance and also have a tendency of loading an arm along with the sabot. Auto loaders are also highly prone to jamming or malfunctioning. Human loaders are sometimes slower, but much more reliable. And jammed auto loader is the last thing you want in a tank on tank conflict.

  • i dont now that battlefield have a really good graphic and is all so very realistic xxxxD

  • 1:52 UP! WTF! UP! lol what happen there?

  • Battlefield 3

  • 1:35 :) 1:38 :)

  • Comment removed

  • OMG, really reloading fast for a human loader! But why russian tanks like auto loader? it just causing many problem, especially in maintain work when the end of day after battle.

  • Comment removed

  • that was hotter then ten naked bitches hahahaha

  • what happens with the resto of the shell.... i see only back part comming out....

  • The loader is a major screw up.

  • I don't know if anyone has said it yet, but the loader is not ramming the round into the breach with a closed fist like he should.

  • He he . . . 1:36. That's pretty funny flipping the camera back at yourself. When I was younger I almost joined the service and was going to try to be a tanker crew man or bust. This video is great, many thanks!

  • I have a question about 19K? I heard most 19K are being deployed as tankers, if that's true then what do they do? Are 19K armed with a M9 or M4 in their tank, APC or HMMVEE

  • theres so few video's of inside M1 and i can't find NONE of the new M1A2 System Enhancement Package V2 configuration, third-generation, digital color terrain maps and new sensors. ? does anyone know how many is made in the latest config and WHAT IS THE LATEST?

  • Where does the cartridge eject to? Its not coming out of the breech.

  • @Snipe4261

The case is made of a combustible material and the only thing left after firing is the metal stub base that contains the primer and the propellant ignition tube. The stub base or "aft cap" as the Tankers call it, hits the deflector shield mounted on the breech block and is deflected into the stub base catcher box on the floor, you can usually fire around 10 rounds before the box starts to get full.

  • @gtatejr That's pretty cool. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • @gtatejr that would be the metal ping you here when he opens the breech after every shot right?

  • @crazylucifer0, you are correct sir.

  • @gtatejr well why dont they make it rim fire that way the whole thing goes away ;)

  • @crazylucifer0 kind of sounds like the shell casing being ejected

  • @gtatejr is there air conditioning because it's like 120 degrees in iraq

  • @gtatejr smart

  • @gtatejr is it loud in there when they fire it?

  • @Snipe4261 that because they are just postering. Who gives a fuck about all this oohhh bang bang! ohhh! stay away from the gun! oohhh! misfire ohhhh! you are so brave! expend all ammunition! you lied! you fired afterwards! you are a coward for lying! and stupid.

  • @PJ3love Are you high?

  • @Snipe4261 on life - yes. Do you have one or do you just sit there talking about shooting something from 2 clicks away and ooohhhh stay away from the gun - oohhh - just like the movies - ohh quick, get them - oh no - ohh! Calm down or stand down! The enemy cant even see you...

  • @PJ3love I asked a technical question about how the gun operates because I'm engineer and how things work is of great interest me. If you came here to berate people for moral reasons then you're shooting at the wrong target because I don't give a flying fuck about your irrelevant pansy pacifist objections to the use of military weapons to conduct wars. You could also try to string together at least one logical and coherent sentence so people actually know what you're talking about.

  • @Snipe4261 Don't worry, he's just a boy making fun of a man's job. ;)

  • what happens if that hits u? :O

  • @BiggestTwoNoobs

If it hits you it hurts like a motherfucker, and it usually results in broken bones.

  • Get Some!

  • That looked and sounded badass. (boom, clank, shoom, clink)

  • I go to Ft. Knox for OSUT in July! 19k HOOAH!!!

  • I got to Ft. Knox for OSUT in July! 19k HOOAH!!!

  • @carvin112

Congrats! I went through OSUT at Knox in July '83.

  • Are there Abramses in Afghanistan? I ve seen a lot of videos from Iraq, but none from Afghan.

  • @SlayerViperPL, there sending a brigade of M1A2 Abrams in Afghanistan soon, but there hasn't been since the war started, there's too much mountains and not enough bases which makes it hard to traval. Which is why there's a lot of aircraft in Afghanistan than Iraq.

  • @TheFalconryFan

1BCT 4ID is a heavy BCT with M1A2's and M2's, but they're not taking their tanks or brads, they are going in light.

  • Nice video. it dosnt sound as loud inside as I would of thought and ive been on the outside of one fireing!

  • I'm hoping to enlist this summer (gotta loose a few more lbs though haha). This is what I've wanted to do since the thought of joining the army crossed my mind. 19k!

  • If you join the Army combat arms is the way to go, Light Infantry you do a lot of walking, Mech Infantry you bounce back and forth between the Bradley and being a dismount. Tanks are awesome rolling around on 70 tons knowing that you can kill anything that you can see is great.

  • I love it when they say on the way! That means there is going to be an explosion! :)

  • I signed up for this MOS

  • Congratulations, you're gonna love it. Tanking is the best job in the world.

  • @gtatejr Have you ever been inside any other tank than the Abrams? Such as the M60A3 Patton? Heck, that's the only other modern US tank I know of.

  • I was on M60A1's and M60A3's from '83 to '90, M1IP's from '90 to '92, M1A1's from '92 to '04 and M1A2's from '04 to '09. In the '80's we had the Sheridan and I played around with one of them at Knox in '86.

  • Being a military research historian, and studying tanks for five years, the Sheridan had a 155 mm cannon. Since it issually fired rockets, in Vietnam there wher ussualy casualties from close range fire. Did you guys have any guidelines on how you where supposed to fire the gun?

  • The 152mm on the Sheridans could fire both conventional ammo and Shillelagh missiles. The Army didn't upload the tanks with missiles in SE Asia, the 152 HEAT and Canister rounds were very well suited for the close quarters combat of the jungle. The biggest drawback to the 152 was the reduced rate of fire due to the closed breech scavenger system used to ensure unburned powder and any remnants of the combustible case ammunition didn't blow back into the turret.

  • gtatejr what would you recommend for armor officer?... army tanker from loader and moving up ranks? or ROTC?... great vid by the way

  • haha the smile

  • Awesome video! 5/5

Can anyone answer this: I'm 6.2, am I too tall to be a tanker?

  • I'm 6' 1" and I've been a Tanker for over 25 years, you should have no problems.

  • Simply awesome, of all the duty possibilities in the army i have always loved tank operations.

  • great vid^^

and nicw smilw at 1:38 XD
