Actually I can tell you why. Burton always seems to add tones from the goth movement into his movies and most goths enjoy his stuff. So emo kids want to be like the big boys and just do what the others are doing.

Actually, burton didn't write the song, Danny Elfman who composed alot of the music for burtons films wrote it. The lyrics however might've been burtons.
