Listened to this version many, many times sitting in Burkes Bar, Clonbur after a days fishing on the Corrib. After spending hours on the lake with that fresh west wind blowing all day, sitting at the bar with a pint of the black stuff listening to this doesnt get any better. Its plain to see where the lads get their inspiration from, it eminates from the land. What a place and what a song. Up Mayo!
@Daragh1971 I was born in Scotland my mother and grandparents from Ireland... I will be 40 next week and have chosen to leave this wed and tour ireland for my birthday .. waking up on my 40th on Clare Island. .. gona be playing the saw doctors the whole trip (if ma man lets me lol) cant wait xx
@katslife71 Hope you had a happy time..I too have hopes for visiting Clare Island....have always come away from a Saw Drs concert feeling so much better than when I went in ...Happy Daysx
For me this is the chaps at their absolute best..saw them first at The Dome in Morecambe a few years ago and was blown away by the whole performance..clare island especially. I shuddered when they did the USA thing, hoping they wouldn't lose themselves up their own arses etc..apart from their amazing musical talent they've always seemed so much real people. Agree totally that you leave a SD concert feeling so much better than when you went in.
Man, this is such a great song, The Saw Doctors are such a underrated band. I didn't grow up in Ireland i grew up in Boston, but I am Irish and this makes me think of what it would've been like growing up in Ireland, they make it seem great don't they, talking about running around with pretty girls great scenery, going bar to bar getting kicked out having a lot of laughs and living life to the fullest! God bless The Saw Doctors!

Good for you fella. Born in Essex near London, Dad from Dublin/Cavan, Mum from Cork, Dad's Aunt survived the Titanic, and my boy, who was sadly born after my Dad died in 2003, is named 'Cavan Joseph Michael Connolly'.
You either understand blood or you don't. Much respect. I have seen these live twice. To coin an American phrase, 'Awesome'.
Going to see The Saw Doctors in two weeks in Worcester, MA. Just love this song!
