the kings man....everyone liked that team back then. And im from chicago. Such good team chem and just a true team. They deserved a ring. Fuck the lakers man.
This was a great series, just like the 2003 series between the Kings and Mavs. That year had some terrific matchups, games, last second shots, etc. Too bad the NBA has gone down in quality in recent years due to the rule changes and the douche-like attitudes from some of the top players. Anyways, it was a great shame the Kings lost this series, probably their last real competitive year where they were a darkhorse team to win a championship. They never recovered. Pity.
nah, Sacramento had no chance in this series. Minny was the best team 03-04, cassell sprewell wally world and the MVP KG. Cassell's injury in the WCF let the Lakers sneak through, a team that was entirely unprepared for the finals and it showed when their team of hall of famers got eaten alive by the hardworking Pistons. If only Sammy's Hammy was feeling better...KG might've never left for Boston.
yea the kings should have never lost game 2 against the wolves, they were up by 10!!! with 2 mins remaining.. then game 3.. they had home court advantage... and game 4 they won... I remember the announcers saying they coulda shoulda swept the wolves..
@mrjphales bro we lost this game in overtime 114-113 peja missed the final shot. better get yo memory checked if we had won this game we could have easyly won the series
Wow @fzak47 i have to agree with you, that past was an awful one.. damn, it's so unfortunate that KINGS are jacked from 01-03.. Now the lakers pays the ultimate price... sweeping and giving them a trauma,
@murumo24 Too bad we have 5 rings to show for the last 11 years and y'all have nothing. Eat a dick, Queens fans. Lakers got swept and embarrassed but at least they made the playoffs and weren't the laughing stock of the NBA for trying to relocate to an area with 2 NBA teams already.
To those that remember watching this entire game, Peja hit a three to send this into overtime and in OT he had a chance to hit the game winner but got blatantly fouled but the stupid refs didn't wanna "decide" the game, it was garbage.
Clearly the credit goes to the man Doug Christie for the quick half look pass to make the T-Wolves rush Stojakovic, i mean everyone knows its a nice shot, but we also know Peja is already a great 3-point shooter, and the contact comes AFTER he releases the ball. Point being, great overall play, but people overlook Christie a lot
a lot of our downfall had to do with Webbers injury too, we won like 60games with him playing about 50games. We never had him really healthy in the playoffs after 2002
Kings lost too many close games in this series. Games 2 and 3 should have been theirs, but just like in 2002 against the Lakers and 2003 against the Mavs, they fail to convert at the FT line and thus choke it away, and in 2003 and 2004 I don't think they were screwed by the officials, those series were evenly called. Pity for the Kings that they couldn't manage at least one championship between 1999-2004.
Too bad he missed the free throw. I remember this game vividly. In fact, he missed several crucial free throws late in that game game and in OT, very un-Peja like. Cost them the game and the series.
that crowd is almost as loud as Game 5 in 2002*, great play, but honestly, contact came after the shot was released, and Peja sold it bigtime, not taking anything away just saying
Dynasty that never lived =(, but were great to watch
Kings were one of the most exciting teams back then. 1999-2004. Kings were soooo goood!! deserved to win against lakers in 2001, but refs screwed them, I am a Huge Lakers fan too.
@evan4u2watch oh ya right your joking because im pretty sure the refs were the finals MVPs that year for their performance against the kings with 912038 bad calls against the kings and 1 against the lakers
I don't know what's more sad...the fact that the Kings actually got swept by the Lakers in 2001, and you're probably referring to the 2002 playoffs or 99 people liking this status.
In my opinion, the best playoff series were in the 90's. Like when the Bulls were dominating, when the Jazz had Karl Malone and John Stockton, and when the Suns went on to play the Bulls in the Finals. Great decade for basketball in my view.
I used to love watching the Kings play...even though I rooted for the Lakers against them, they had a heckuva team. And that ARCO Arena - loud as hell. I'd have my tv down and I'd be watching a Kings game and it would still be loud. Can't wait until the Kings are good again.
It comes and it goes, it comes and it goes. Just like two years ago with the Atlanta Hawks...how in the world did they get in and last year with Portland...how long had it been since they were in the playoffs before last year? It'll be someone new this year...Bobcats? Clippers? Who knows?
kings lost this game cus peja got fouled on the final possesion at ref didn't call it. I mean usually you let stuff go on the final play but Peja got hammered and his shot wasn't even close to the rim!!!! grrr
