I have a middle-grade book here in front of me called The Unwanteds by Lisa McMann. The hype on the cover says "The hunger games meets Harry Potter". Ummmm, yeah. I certainly hope that middle-grade kids are not reading The Hunger Games. I have read the first 30 pages, and it is good - Harry Potter, it is not :)
@bumblesby I think referencing Harry Potter in order to sell your book is a complete joke. Nothing will ever be like Harry Potter. It is in a league of it's own. But you see my point about. So many books are trying to compare themselves to The Hunger Games that it is becoming a completely meaningless statement.
@lindsaylou04 I hate when characters don't live up to what they're suppose too. And I agree that lately a lot of books have been compared to The Hunger Games! It's kinda getting annoying!!
@AngelicaM2009 I haven't even read The Hunger Games yet and if I judged those books based on the books that are compared to them, I probably wouldn't be so eager. The only book so far that referenced The Hunger Games on the cover that I actually liked was ENCLAVE by Ann Aguirre. Now that was an amazing book. That book makes me want to read THG.
You know how I feel about Damsels. So a great way to kill a book for me is to make her a D.I.D. So we'll see if she's a badass or not.
@danoz430254 lol Actually this was filmed the same night as the one about me being sick. I'm glad that I hid it though XD I am feeling much better. Everyday brings improvement. I hope you get your allergy thing taken care of. It sounds pretty nasty.
I have been hearing a lot of good things about this one, that's why I decided to request it and luckily enough they said ok! So I'm interested to see how it turns out
@TheCubicleBlindness If I remember currently, the back of the book says that it has a six figure marketing campaign which sounds insanely huge. I've heard that it's already been optioned to be a movie-- but I don't know how true that is. I watched an interview with the author today and now I'm dieing to pick it back up again. Perhaps I'll sit down for some reading tomorrow :)
