  • it might help a bit on the high notes to tounge them. (say tu before each note) and especially when you pause or take a breath otherwise youll start with a slightly lower note and curve up into the note you wanted. keep the vids coming

  • haha this is a very old video hehe... (GRIN)

    Thanks

    Dave

  • Hello. I was just wondering if I could ask you something. I am planning on purchasing an Infinity Ocarina in the next few days, and I was wondering, how did you find yours? Do you think it will easy to learn? Well, of course, not easy, but atleast possible for someone just starting out with Ocarina's?

  • It was the first 12 hole Ocarina that I bought I am now up to 33+ of all kinds of them. The Infinity is nice compact and a good quality Ocarina, I was well impressed with its response. (I have unfortunately havent played it in months as others have taken my attention HOWEVER it is a great ocarina with a kicking sound, just make sure you work on adjusting your airpressure at higher notes) Have a look at the ocarina network for more info and help too, hope this helps you, - Dave

  • Thanks, exactly what I was hoping to hear. Yeah I've been trying to find some more songs played on the Infinity, but so far I have only found a few videos. Hopefully I'll be able to pick it up without too much trouble. Thanks again for the response. :D

Oh p.s. on the higher notes thing, I think I heard somewhere that leaning inward, and pointing the ocarina downward might help. Not too sure.

  • glad i could be of help... Yes thats called the acute bend, and for the ocarina's which are not balanced for air pressure it can work to allow you to hit the high notes, but if you get very very very well balanced Ocarina's you can play its full range with out the need for it or even adjusting your air pressure My ideal Ocarina would be one I can play at the same pressure throughout keeping the same volume. But if you learn to play these right they sound great nevertheless. - Dave

  • Oh ok, cool. Yeah I think for me, having to learn air pressure will come in handy for developing better tone control. :D And I just checked out The Ocarina Network, your quite a well known name over there.

Oh and one final question, I couldn't find this out ANYWHERE... What is the Infinity made out of?

  • Cool Good luck with it!!! Hope to see some youtube videos!!

You know, Im not sure looking at it the feel and so on feels like its ceramics it has the feel of it but I have no idea, you might want to email the info stl address.

    all the best

    Dave

  • Oh ok, thankyou very much! You've been more than helpful! With some luck, by the end of this year, I might just have a song or too recorded. Thanks again.

    Gerhardt.

  • Good luck!!!! Remember your videos dont need to be perfect (GRIN)

    dave

  • Do you know the "zfans" songbook? Well, it's in German and they play "Zelda's Lullaby" in a different way, but there a lots of "OoT" Songs in there, with "diagrams" of the ocarina with black/white painted holes and the notes for every song. Hard to describe... Maybe that's what you were/are looking for ;)

  • Thanks, not really intrested in Zelda stuff, Just did it cause it was good practice Just when i started playing the Ocarina. It sounds like its picture tabs in the book you describe you can get a lot from the ocarina network website.

    Thanks so much!

    Dave

  • Okay, sorry, thought you were talking about the Zelda Songs ;)

  • No no, its all cool, thanks so much for watching, do you play the ocarina?

    dave

  • You did a great job man!! Congratulations!!

    Jorge and Joel... "Jorel"

  • thanks so much!

    dave

  • It's absolutely brilliant! It sounded good for the notes flowing into each other.

Uhh... photo tabs. The only site I know is Songbird Ocarina songbook, but I think that's only for pendants, unless you know how to convert it from pendant sheet music to 12 hole transverse sheet music.

Practice practice practice and you'll perfect Zelda's Lullaby and know number tabs. ;)

  • thank you!

    dave

  • You're absolutely welcome! Anytime!

  • Hard to tell but I think you're slurring the notes together, try saying tu or two when initially when u blow into the Ocarina...Otherwise it sounds fine

  • Yes they were in legato, I was seeing how it sounded in legato trying to flow from note to note.

    thank you!!

    Dave

  • didn't know that xD

  • Its all gravy, I really should comment more in my videos, I have over whelmed myself with Ocarinas now and have to get my level of playing up quite a bit to cope with owning 18 of them now! When I get a chance I'll do reviews between them and hopefully sound a bit better on my playing (GRIN)

    thanks so much!

    Dave

  • I wish i had 18 Ocarinas, I only have 5...Would have 7 but I broke one and lost one, I have a Focalink Double Alto C, STL Tenor 12-hole, and 2 Pendants Key of F and G, Soprano, and some novelty 4 hole Strawberry ocarina

  • youll get there!! follow your heart and listen to each oc to find the ones that suit you.
