hey guys. Me and my friends making video using VFX and are hustling to blow up. If you could shoot over to our new channel and give it a peek and leave some feedback (comment, like. etc)
It means the world
Thank you to everyone that helps. It means the world
wow! These diy builds are seriously helpful for those no budget film makers like us. Keep em' coming. And if you'd like to see what we're capable of with a zero dollar budget stop by, and check out some of our short films! Thanks again ryan! :D
@JPettsProductions oh really? because with my graduate degree i couldnt read the five letter word for myself. dont waste my time with such an ignorant reply man. that is like saying he drives a ford. what kind of ford? mustang, focus, escape, f-150 and so on. what kind of nikon? if you dont know, then get off me
@131rocketman um not, you really didnt get what i ment, it was ment to be like "looks at camera name" then im like what is that a Nikon ??!!? like wow he usually uses canon, and you dont need to get all aggressive maby you didnt notice it, i was just trying to be helping and it is probs a Nikon D7000 as that is one of the more pro nikons, sorry if i confused u, not angry now ? :)
@JPettsProductions well you assume i watch the show enough to know that he usually uses a canon. but i dont because i am new to this channel. see that would have wasted alot less time by just saying a nikon d7000. thanks anyway
@EnviroAda probably so. but that means more pieces to buy which means more money. granted it would not cost alot of money. but when you buy pvc pipes, like he had, you usually have to get it at like.. 10 foot sections so its probably cheaper just to bend it
Check out the latest video on my channel. I explain some of the things that Ryan didn't expand on and show an alternative to the heat gun. Plus, I put the list of supplies in the info box.
Oh yeah, Also for those who don't have a quick release plate of no money to buy one. a 20thread screw is universal for any camera so, just go buy a screw that's long enough to fit your camera.
Guys, when i made mine we didn't use a hot-airgun, simply get some 90's and you should need about 6 of them and do everything else he said. You might save some money by doing this.
One and one more thing, like one of the comments bellow me I would like to see how to make a quality intro like your new one and your old one. that would really help
Hey FILM RIOT, I saw the movie The Rocketeer and loved it, but i really want to know how they did the flying around everywhere and going places so well. I know you have that other video when you guys are kicking people and flying but that doesn't seem to cover what I'm looking for. I kind of have an idea of how i could do it with a green screen but i would like to see it done by the professionals. Please i would love to see this effect carried out, Please!
Thank you so much film riot! I have one question that may have been asked many times but i have not heard an answer: What ever happened to the old cast and crew of film riot and why did they have to leave?. We all miss them!
dear ryan (and others), i was wondering if you could show us how to make a quality intro. i know it doesn't have much to do with filming but i would appreciate it. thanks, kieran
You could at least turn around that cushy thingy, so it would not be ugly cushy thingy. Now you can see where the cuts are. Really clever Ryan, really clever...
Hey can somebody please write me what is needed to build this shoulder rig ( i'm not that good in english so it would be very nice!) great video btw :)
Film riot is awesome. me and my friend made a vfx video and we could always use some more views, and we would really appreciate it if u could check our our channel.
Why not use pipe sections, T-pieces and 90 degree PVC bends. That killes the pain of heat bending. You can also try it all out for feel and then glue those together. Have some extra T-joints on strategic places to put on repositionalable handgrips.
@spazzmwho he says effects done during the movie are better then doing it in editing.. like a bullet effect in water he throws stones in the water. Just grow a pair and use a real cigarette.. you don't have to inhale it
You guys should do something like auctioning off some of your props and DIY things! The money could go partially towards you guys and partially towards a charity or something! I just randomly thought of this idea while watching this video!
Hey Ryan. I am recording videos with my HTC Desire HD, But when we are going to make effects like blood on the wall, we can't... because the camera shake, can you make a realy cheap Tripod for a phone like HTC Desire HD? U R THE BEST!
I can never understand why people need tutorials to build these things. If you can't figure this out by yourselfs you shouldn't be allowed near a camera in the first place!
i wouldn't do this if i were to waste your time, please check out our new video , we worked REALLY hard on the vfx and we could always use a couple more viewers. thank you.
Hey, thanks for the great idea, should be useful to get some steady shots. I know you're busy but if you can spare 10 seconds (that's literally the entire length) please take a look at the featured video on my profile page. I'm trying to perfect my showreel before sending it out to VFX companies and this was a clip I planned to use. Thanks!
Hey Ry, PVC Cutters at Hardware stores are like 5 bucks and work so freaking amazing. I use them on most of my DIY builds. You should invest in some bud! Hacksaws are from the caveman era :p Great Build thought and Imma hop on it!

In hair dyer temperature is too low for bending the pipe.. but you can use fire, if you do it correctly and accurate, it will be the same result
