  • start on 2 upstrokes

  • nice guitar

  • You are a powerhouse of sound!

  • purty dang good! an observation, your lyrics are waaay tooo understandable! {:-O van slurs his lyrics so badly that if the lyrics weren't commercially available, no one would have the slightest idea what he is saying, at least on some of his songs. and that's what makes van, van. i think your playing is quite accurate to van's original, and live version. YOU HAVE CAUSED ME TO REVISIT THIS SONG AND INSPIRED ME TO RE-LEARN HOW TO PLAY IT. IF I CAN ONLY LEARN THE VAN MORRISON SLUR. {:-D

  • @ALBERTKING901 ... lol... I'll work on that slur too... maybe a few drinks'll help!

  • A nice effort, I think. Not as good as Van but not bad at all. :)

  • Very nice work, and I like the vocals. Most chord charts I've seen say e, f#m, a, b6. Is that what you're doing? It looks like you're doing something to modify the B6 and strumming it so it sounds like 5 chords rather than 4. Is that correct?

  • you got it... instead of takin' the b6 back down to a, i just drop the pinky and play an open e... so essentially i'm goin e, f#m, a-a(hammer on b string)-a-asus9 slide to b6, then drop the pinky off to leave e open... does that make sense?

  • he's playing those chords a half step lower, he has it tuned to E flat

  • true... though the original is in E. Most people play it in E so you don't have to worry about tuning down. I simply play most songs a half step down... better for my voice.

  • wow...thats so gd

  • gracci!

  • it's in 6/8...no arguing about that.

  • I'm asking as it looks like 4/4, but the original is 6/8....also, is it 1 or 2 measures per chord? sorry for all the questions, but you have this down solid!

  • Okay, I count it like this:

    1 + 2 + 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 + (repeat).

I don't know if that's 6/8 or not. I'm terrible with that stuff. Definitely not 4/4 though.

Counting it 1 through 6, it's one measure per chord. But I suppose you could count it 1+2+3+. Then it'd be 2 measures per chord.

    Hope that is helpful.

  • nice cover! trying to figure this out, is it 6/8 time for all measures?

  • Good stuff ! I like it !

  • many thanks!

  • youtube has a lot to answer for, it really does

  • How dare you

  • yes.... true

  • Great cover man. Van is one of my all time favorite as is this song. I recommend watching Declaw's version of this on YouTube. It's good as well. I like your version too. What are the chords you using.? Keep it rocking.

  • Thanks! Yeah I checked out tclaw's version. That dude is pretty awesome. Have you heard him do Shine? Good stuff. Here're the chords:

    f#m, a (slide) b6

    e, f#m, a (slide) b6

chorus: e,a (optional slide to b6)

tclaw does it a little different (and a little better).

  • This is very good! I didn't really like this song, but I was very bored and looking through van the mans acoustic covers. I like yours. I'd have a go playing it myself if i could find some tabs

  • 7am christmas morning, this is the first thing Ive seen, great job man! Inspirational, now Im goin for a hike in the snow... keep it up. Merry Xmas

  • Hey thanks! Merry Xmas to you too! Make sure to keep those toesies nice and warm hikin' through that snow ;P
