  • Alright you made me curious so I had to see how hard it was to de-solder from the board, so I did it on a bad board. Amazingly it really wasn't all that hard, just have to use the crap out of the solder sucker and twist two of the tabs so they would fit through the board. So now I have a RF modulator de-soldered from the board if anyone needs one, let me know it seems to be in good shape.

  • I took a closer look at the bottom of the board! Like you said, I will have to take it all apart to fix it!

  • I opened the RF box and the solder is broken on the inside. The resistor is also broken on both ends. I think it is going to be a big job to fix. What do you think?

  • I will try the soldering to see if it works. Thank you for showing how to open the RF box. I will open it today to see if is just the solder!

  • The Intellivision II that has a bad RF out is from a lot that I bought off E-bay. My original Intelliviison II still works well! The top board, I noticed lifts right out after taking out three screws. The top board looks like two capacitors have Capacitor plague. The top of two of them are split open and I see some brown residue. I opened my other Intelliviison and the same two capacitors are starting to split, but no residue

  • @starblazers1969 That's a bummer man it sounds like they got played to the point of overheating.

you might try this site and see if he has parts fore them arcadecomponents it's where I got the chips for my Colecovision

  • @WARPUDDY666

My original Intelliviison II isn't too bad, but I should consider getting new ones before something happens.

    Your Capacitors all look good.

  • @starblazers1969 Capacitors are cheap and easy to replace. Capacitors bulging and splitting is normal on old electronics because of how many time they charge and discharge.

  • @RetroGam3Nerd

The capacitors, on the top plug-in board looks easy to replace. The resistor in the broken RF Module doesn't look easy(The recent one I picked up in a lot of games). I may only replace the capacitors my original Intelliviison II and just part the other one!

  • @RetroGam3Nerd

The resistor is broken on both ends. I would have to take off the RF Module to fix it! Like WarPuddy 666 said," The RF module is soldered on very good".

  • @starblazers1969 I understand that the RF modulator is soldered on very well. I was just referring to how easy the capacitors are to replace. Anyway I was looking at an old Intellivision I have for spare parts and from the color code of the resistor it appears to be a 22 ohm resistor, if that helps you out at all.

  • I always have an ice pick handy just in case i want to slice up some Meatloaf. (Movie Trivia).
