  • @megamanxdeath congratulations on passing for black belt. I tested a few months ago and I'm going to a regional tournament and I'm gonna get my black belt there :D

  • that looks like chul gi cho dan. why do some people call it nai han chi cho dan. that really sounds like a japanese kata name

  • @jessica5000000 I am always surprised at the lack of history taught in martial arts, and the misinformation people are given. Nai Han Chi is the Chinese name for this hyung, which was developed in the 1800's on Okinawa by karate masters Matsumura and Itosu. In Japan, they are called Tekki, in Korea usually Nai Han Chi, sometimes Chul Gi (by Tae Kwon Do clubs). The 3 NHC forms are full of close in fighting movements. Hope this brief lesson in history helps!

  • almost forgot, thanks for posting. i need this for my black belt test in December

  • @megamanxdeath How did it go?

  • @ricktsdmdk I Passed :D, >.> and got beat up

  • @megamanxdeath well good for you! Not on the beaten up part, but on passing! Congratulations, and I hope the path to 2nd Dan is in front of you!

  • @ricktsdmdk thanks

  • very nice but your horse stance should be a little deeper

  • you guys should check out "mrblackbelt42" he has the best tang soo do forms on youtube.

  • @juancruz1992 looked at them, he's OK. Looks like he has no style based on the flags from all over the world.

  • @ricktsdmdk What do you mean by no style?

  • @juancruz1992 there are flags from 5 or 6 different countries on the wall.

  • Interesting...almost the exact same form as we practice, though we stress stronger and lower keema stances, etc. Always nice to see variations in other styles.

  • Do you have videos available to see the forms you practice? I also love to compare.

  • has anybody noticed that all the nai han chi forms are all the shortest?

  • The Nai Han Chi are about the same length as the Pyung Ahn forms, 24 - 27 moves. They seem shorter because you move in a line and don't cover the floor as much. In answer to the other question you had, yes the form repeats itself at the halfway point.

  • i apologise for trying to tell you how to correctly do the form. i want aware of your rank. sorry.

i watched some of your other videos and they're great!

  • Thanks, and no problem - rank does not equate to skill, necessarily. I would like to see you perform the forms though, so I can compare. I am very familiar with CS Kims versions of the forms, and I would love to see how you do them.

  • I am familiar with Mr Jackson, he is a student of C S Kim. Thank you for the comments, and I hope someday you attain 5th Dan so you can properly instruct me in the correct performance of forms. As a 4th Dan, I feel i know them pretty well.

  • Just curious - what style are you, and what rank? Also, where are your Tang Soo Do videos located so I can compare? Thanks!

  • Good solid hyung. Very nicely done. Tang Soo!

  • Thanks for the kind words!

  • Hey!

nice job. Its a bit different from the way we open it in my system (shuri ryu), which system are you doing it in?

  • Thanks - the style is Tang Soo Do, a Korean karate style. Do you have a video up that shows your version?

  • Yeah, i can make one. But i am only at 5. kyu, so i will waite untill i feel a bit more safe in performing it. It is a great sport. I can send you a messenge here on youtube, when the video is ready.

  • How is your video coming along?

  • Hey Rick! Yeah, i have been out traveling the last months (ski), so i have not been able to practise that much. But it is not forgotten :) Now i am struggleing with some illness.. hopefully it will soon be over. :)

    best regards

    Ebbe Kjær Skau

  • Hope you re doing better!

  • Everything OK? Still looking forward to seeing some videos!

  • Hey Rick. Sorry i must have forgot to tell you. Maybe i can get some of my friends to record a video for you. I have stoped doing karate, because i had to focus on my drumming and my skiing. However i am still in contact with all my friends down at "Asia Sport Center". :)

  • Whatever you can do is fine!

  • Awesome! Looking forward to learning it!
