However, one of my family friends is Opus Dei, and he affirms himself that "You go to a restaurant and you have to pay for the food, they don't give it to you for free" and that people from Opus Dei do flog themselves as a payment for God's gift of life. Perhaps they acknowledge some of their acts as sins, no matter how redundant they are... but then again, if God gave Men free will, why would they suffer for their right to have it?

God is portrayed as either a paternal power, or a loving being all around.
