  • Hey, what a beautiful bass, it's a reissue, right? I have a contemporary bass and it sounds pretty much like yours. Are you using flatwound strings? Paul used to do it (and still does), so in case you are not using that kind of strings, I recommend you to buy them. Then you will get the real deal.

  • @MrBuzzano Yes it's a 1963 Reissue Hofner, made in Germany and I'm using Flatwound strings ...

  • Great cover :)

  • SWeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeT.

  • Watching this video makes me want to buy that Hofner bass. Nice playing, man! Keep it up! :)

  • @ModernLifeIsTrashy HI ModernLifeIsTrashy !!! Go ahead and buy the real thing, you'll never get disapointed ...

  • @TheBeetools i have a B-icon series Hofner bass... but it still sounds 99% close to the real ones :D the other 1% is for a little rattle when i play the E note... :l

  • COOL*****5+ Watch my guitar version!!!! :D

  • is this short scale?

  • I wouldn't pay $2k for it. The contemporary is just as good and less expensive.

  • @Icymarky0123 Hi !!! Yes of course the contemporary is less expensive , but you'll never get the feeling by not having the real decoy !!! Sorry my friend but life is cruel ... LOL

  • @TheBeetools Don't you mean the real McCoy ??

  • @miclewis55 Yes , this is what I mean !!!

    Thank You.

  • lovely hofner

  • that is an epic bass-did paul use one with a pickguard/shiny-thing on it?

  • i bout a B bass and when i got it i was dispoitned when i saw it did have the same sunburst it darker almost red kinda and i whant that kinda of light sunbrust is there anythang i can do to get that color cuse im just 11 and can't aford that one

  • @jpasdi1999 If it makes you feel any better the BBass finish is closer to Paul's 1961 Hofner model (check out the Revolution video to see). It's not quite the same, but it's close - and the sound is almost dead on. The BBass vs the Epi or the Contemporary is always going to sound closest to the v63.

    What does everyone else think?

  • @AppleCorp3 thanks it dose help a alot

  • get a gibson bass, they arent known for them but they are awesome!

  • great sound. I really want one.

  • @bluegrasssingingman

    Why lose the pick?

  • Comment removed

  • @bluegrasssingingman

Ok. Thanks for your answer. I just wondered what your reason was. McCartney uses a pick and I just assumed that this guy was being authentic. Surely there are lots of greast player who who a pick, even swapping from pick to fingers for different styles. anyway, nice discussing with you.

    Bye.

  • @bluegrasssingingman youre wrong, picks and finger walking give the bass a different tone, as well as other instruments (flamenco/spanish guitar, banjo, bass, mandolin etc). picks give the bass a brighter tone. it has nothing to do with talent. paul mccartney had amazing bass lines and mostly played with a pick or his thumb. it was his signature tone. some people like the sound of a pick, some don't. talent comes in different shapes and forms. do some research before you open your mouth.

  • @bluegrasssingingman No one? okay fine - John & Paul did not sell their songs to Jacko. They never owned their publishing to begin with and a takeover bid in 1969 fell apart due to the in-fighting over Apple.

On to the rest - McCartney can play both upright and fretless and he has. He's also recorded with a 5-string and of course the Hofner and Rick. Slap is a different technique and style. Apples and oranges. By the way - it's Beatles with an A. Talent? I'd like to hear YOUR music.

  • @bluegrasssingingman Speaking as a professional musician of 20 years I feel confident in saying you're way off base. Different techniques are just that: different. Some may be easier to learn than others, but NONE are easy to master. Secondly, when making unwarranted attacks on others, you might want to at least get your spelling and grammar correct to avoid looking like a complete fool and ignoramus. Can anybody say douchebag?

  • @bluegrasssingingman Beatles is spelled with an "A". It's hard to understand how one of the most prolific and well-respected bassists and songwriters of the 20th century "sucks." McCartney never sold the Beatles music to anyone. He was horrified to find Michael had bought the rights to the Beatles catalog and tried several times, unsuccessfully, to buy it from Michael. Allowed is not spelled "aloud." "Then" is not the same as "than" and "than using your fingers" is not a sentence, idiot.

    Anyway, very good job!

Congrats for that "little baby" as Paul said talking about his Hofner.

  • that is a nice hofner i always wanted one

  • now all you gotta do is play it left handed =P

    well done

  • @Nocookiepuffs4u im left handed on guitar

  • Can people shut up about the bass guitar? I have a Fender bass guitar and it's fine.

  • Hi Ultraheroguy !!! Even if you're not please with my comment , a fender Bass Guitar is not a Hofner Bass Guitar .

  • @TheBeetools

i have a rickenbacker and it pwns ur hofner and ur fender...

  • @TheBeetools

i have a rickenbacker and it pwns ur hofner and ur fender...

  • i agree... i like a lot the jazz fender's basses...

the hofner is just because 4 those that want looking like macca... the thing is the player's quality not how it looks

  • @Ultraheroguy

lol, i have a rick and it pwns all.

  • Hey guys,

I'm thinking of buying an old hofner bass but i'm not sure of where to get one .There are no stores around here that cary any hofners as far as I know. i live in British Columbia. If you have any ideas please let me know. thanx

  • you can ask your local music stroe to order one for you.

  • @MacDonald989 internet

  • I'm trying to get one of these too.. but i think I'm gonna get a modern modal, because it's much cheaper. I'm sure it's not the same sound, but I bet it's somewhat close

  • Hi SamMoff !!! If you are buying an Hofner Bass Guitar , you'll never get disapointed .

  • @SamMoff Hofner does sell an affordable version of this bass guitar. Its called a Icon B series Hofner Violin bass

  • Fantastic! :) x

  • where did u get that guitar?????

  • Hi KICKN4567 !!! I bought it at the music store .

  • how much?

  • HI fuckuproductions !!! With all taxes , the cost was about $ 3000.00 CAD

  • Exelent! 5 stars! And Faved!

  • whoa! that sounds splendid! whoa!

  • I WANT THAT GUITAR!

  • its not a guitar, its abass

  • DUUH!

  • It's a Bass Guitar, still under the guitar category

  • yeah i know, but you can say it's a bass because of the strings and because it has 4 strings. But why is it under the guitar category?

  • Some basses have 7 strings some guitars have 5 strings iused to have a six string bass and they are actually harder to play than guitar

  • How hard is it to play this?

  • nah man i was just messin with ya, u play good

  • Does the body have a glossy paint on it (for example, like a fender bass) or is it a wood with finish on it (kind of like an acoustic)?

  • its glossy, most semi hollow basses, like the hofner, is glossy

  • thers one thing missing, ur not lefty!

  • Hi mos94 !!! I hope that you're not trying to tell me because I'm not lefty I can't play the BEATLES MUSIC ???

  • Hi elavate7 !!! Yes of course you can play this Bass Guitar with your fingers ...

  • I have the same bass, and i prefer playing with my pick, so s'all good! :)

  • its preference and finger skill, i play with my fingers, i played this bass at sam ash, and its possible with ur hands

  • paul mccartney played without a pick, in the sixties on a höfner bass...

  • how old are you??

  • im 13 too! yeah maybe you know more about paul but he did often play with his thum!

  • not really. he did use his thumb for songs like nowhere man i am the walrus etc..

  • yeah, i had right!

  • HEY!, mccartney played with pick in the 70% of the songs, so what??? Mccartney still been the best bass player!!!!!

  • Yeah, McCartney rules!

  • yea its definitly a 62 or 63 im not sure though, i played the new ones but they just don't sound the same or feel the same

  • the new ones like these are fairly cheap, around $370 american

  • WOW ! That was simply terrific !

  • Damn nice hofner. Wish i had one. Im definitely subscribing!

  • nice job playing!

  • nice hofner! ive got one but it needs new bridge and saddle pieces i might put it on youtube one day when i feel like it.

    Its either a 1962 or 1963.

  • man if urs is an actual 1960's hofner u could sell that 4 soo much money man. but dont they have a better sound than the newer models

  • This guitar is nice. However Macca has used this mainly for public appearances and another one - in studio - because of little tuning problems ;]

  • is this the $2.000 german bass guitar?

  • Hi wisesatyr72 !!! it's almost $ 3000.00 in Canadian dollars including taxes.

  • Very cool brother..Great Bass, looks like you can play hours on that thing not get tired..But its still a damn rip off price on this bass..its supposed to be cheaper than a Fender right??

  • Hi wisesatyr72 !!! As you probably know Hofner Basses guitars are Hand made even the paint job. Also they are legendary ,so somebody has to pay for it !!!

  • i hav tht same bass but mines newer coz its a new model- its still a hofner violin style but it says bbass on it lol

  • can i get a drop d tuning? with this scale of bass ?

  • omg your good im only 12 wen i play this on bass it sounds bad HAHA lols

  • Just keep it up, keep playing and try to found out WHAT makes it sound bad and then try to fix it :) It is all about finding out what sounds good on the bass and what don't.

  • is that a honer 500/1 the bass that mccartney was used in i wanna hold your hand video clip where did u bought the bass , i see the bass is similar with violin.

  • Hi anip94 !!! Yes it's the same bass guitar as Mc Cartney. I bought my Bass guitar from a music store in Canada.

  • great and awesome

  • Hi Aang133 !!! Thank you for leaving your comment and for watching this video !!!

  • thats pretty cool =)

  • i think it's not the original bass line

  • How much your bass? I'm very interested in picking it up. I already play guitar but theres something about the bass, I'm attracted to it.

  • sounds imence but i must say it might sounds better if you use the classic funk pluckiing with your thumb or 2 fingers

  • Hi camerooniepooniepoo !!! I'm able to play with my fingers don't worry about it, but to play the Beatles's songs I prefer to play with a pick. Is there any problem with that ???

  • SO COOL :D

  • Hi StrawberrySims09 !!! Thank you for watching and leaving a comment about this video !!!

  • Where can I get the TABS

  • i love hofners i only have a fender

  • were did you buy it

  • Hi abm63 !!! I bought my Hofner Bass Guitar in the province of Ontario, Canada !!! I'm Hoping you'll buy one, they are very pleasant to play no matter what others can say !!! Ciao, my friend ...

  • im getting one for christmas.they seem better to play.

  • Just a suggestion, I bet it would sound much better if you played with your fingers and not a pick.

  • Hi nugun889 !!! Playing with a pick or with your fingers is a matter of personnal taste. Mc Cartney has played almost all of the Beatles song with a pick. What's wrong with it ???

  • Nothing's wrong with it, It is certainly a matter of preference but you get a nicer warmer sound when playing with your fingers, and I think it would sound nicer on your video =)Its worth it just to try it out right?

  • beautiful sound bro

  • Instrument mythique + sonorité veloutée de la bonne lutherie bavaroise. Quand on l'a, on ne s'en sépare plus... et on l'emmène sur scène, of course !

  • Salut AriHP !!!

    Bonne continuation...

  • He plays bass chords during "And when I touch you"

  • Most excellent! Tnx for sharing.

  • Then ending was wrong. Other than that, it was decent.

  • man your good!!!

  • nice Job i love it.... try more ;-)

  • nice job dude

  • The tone is a bit too trebly, but I like it!

  • i liked it :)

  • Hi dearxbeth !!! Thank you for your comment!!!

  • What Hofner have you got?

  • It's not perfect, several notes does not exist.

But u are great bass player. :o)

  • yep i play bass and guitar and stuff... ur good

  • why as this marked as spam??

  • Nice sound

  • hi,

great sound !! can you tell me what Hofner is that and what pickup are you using ?

    Thanks, Krystof

  • Hi Hebdula !!! I'm using a Hofner re-issue 1963. It's a real jewel !!!

  • thanks, do you remember what pickup is activated ? Im searching that sound on my Epiphone Viola bass...

    Krystof

  • you won't find that sound on a viola bass, dude ^^

  • why not ?

  • cause only the original hofner can produce such a brilliant sound. i own a career violine bass which looks exactly like the hofner, but the quality isn't the same.

    ben

  • yup I have 2 they are the best. if you can't get an actual one buy the contemporary. they look like a 62.

  • ive gotten that sound out of a fender p bass

  • thats really good... im usually against people who use a pick to play bass but this is really good... im getting that model soon... 2100 dollars ... but really good job on this

  • Hi yatoast !!! I am very happy to read that you are appreciating this video. Let me know when you'll get a hold on your Hofner and don't be scare to use a pick to play the Beatles music !!!

  • you're realy good!

  • Hi letosvet1 !!! Thank you for your appreciation ...

  • Heh.

John Enwistle used to be the only bassist I've seen play with a pick.

Fantastic, though, and I LOVE the Hofner.

  • Hi smitty01209 !!! Thank you for watching my video ... I must say that I also love the Hofner Bass guitar !!!

  • Heh. I'm a beginner bassist myself. I have a cheap 'lil Washburn, however I am savin' up for a Hofner!

  • Hi again smitty01209 !!! All I can say to you is go for IT !!! No matter what people can say, you'll be please playing with a Hofner.

  • Chris Squire plays with a pick...

  • Paul McCartney plays with a pick. :P

  • Heh.

I just realized that after I posted the comment.

And he MOSTLY played with a pick, mind you!

  • What about Greg Lake & Chris Squire?

  • hey! my brother has the same bass, except it's red, i'm starting to learn, and this cover was really neat! You play really clean. I have a Maclen Music version of the bass line, where did you get yours?

  • doesnt playing bass get boring? no1 ever notices u and u play the same thing over and over and over ....it just seems like it would be ub3r boring

  • Sorta,

But Then You Realize Your Playing An Important Part Of The Music Making Process. ^^

  • Hey hazwan97!!! Keep-on playing Beatles songs with either your fingers or a pick !!! Ha ha ha ha !!! No matter how you feel .

  • ok...i'll take it...

  • Good job! But I just can't stand when people use a pick on a bass, Its not right.

  • Hi PurplePushPin !!! I'm also able to play with my fingers, but you have to keep in mind that Paul Mc Cartney with the Beatles was playing with a pick and he wasn't a bad Bass Player for that. I'm playing with flat wounded strings and many times it sounds better with a pick. I hope you will be able to make the difference !!! Is it OK with you ???

  • hey,Paul McCartney plays the bass with his fingers, have u seen all their videos??...even a 11 yrs old guy is smarter than u,cuz i'm 11 yrs old....

  • Hey hazwan97 !!! Why are you smarter than me ??? Just because you only have 11 years. It doesn't matter much to me ...
