  • Holy crap, is this relevant today or what!

  • Steppenwolf on Playboy After Dark! This song applies to today's issues!

  • Monster was a screed against the U.S., especially Nixon, as I recall. If Kay is a free market capitalist, as you seem to maintain, why hasn't he done any USO shows? He'd be a big hit.

  • Wake up America! It's coming down the pike. This country will go the way of Egypt Babylon Rome and the Nazis. For what was done yesterday we deserve tomorrow.

  • hef probably hired the band to play at the mansion. Nice to have that kind of money is'nt it!

  • OBAMA times ten!

  • Does anyone know, I realize its a huge long shot

Who that gorgeous babe at 1:22 is?

  • Fuck Canadians.

  • As an American who has friends in and traveled throughout Canada, pull your lips over your head and swallow! It's a great country. What are you? An isolated tea bagger punk whose parents must be proud?

  • all of the cuties from Playboy After Dark being faced with heavy politics like this....

  • @TheTimananda Barbie Benton at about 0:56 with Hugh.

  • thnx for uploading

    love the song

    Greetings Ed

  • this song could have been written this year and made more sense now than in 69

  • fantastic song

  • How in the hell did John Boy know about Obama in 1969? We got ourselves a real Monster now!

  • @lmt61251 Amen!!!!!

  • @ElizasGran thx!

  • @lmt61251 this was a protest song about vietnam, which if you ask most would be more liberal then conservative if you ask me.

  • @nickernuts73 ironic, isn't it? Here a howling-moon Lefty with Leninist tendencies, John Kay, contributes to what can rightly be called a self-fullfilling prophecy that comes up and smacks us in the head from the opposite direction. Maybe James Maynard Cornhole can take a page from John Boy's book and see what kind of future he's contributing to. But you're absolutely right, the song was originally a Vietnam/filthy-stinking-United States of America protest song.

  • @lmt61251

Speaking of howling at the moon, WTF are you babbling about? John Kay is a *Leninist*!? Maybe you're aware that Kay's childhood was basically an ongoing escape from the Soviet Union? The guy clearly worships America and freedom. He was Born to Be Wild... get it?

Why is it that people that self-identify as "right wing" so predictably view the world in stark, black and white terms. "I'm right wing. Person X disagrees with me, hence he is Lefty, Socialist, Leninist, etc".

    Jeesh...

  • Wow! They both played Dan Armstrong guitars ... wish I had one!

  • The sad thing is this song still rings true in 2010 as it did in 1969 - remember work over money -work must come first before any money can be made. EAT THE RICH RUSH COULD FEED A SMALL TOWN !!!

  • you are seeing a nostredamus [sp] moment ...

  • ety

    g

  • the man being John Kay, rock and roller.

  • uhh, what if the man is talkin about christianity. just sayin.

  • Against Obama? Bush et al, started the war in Iraq unprovoked and it has always been conservatives who promote war.

  • @cambre19 What about LBJ and Vietnam?

  • So prophetic! Love it all the way! Great song and underrated too! Thanks for posting this on here!

  • We can't fight alone againsr Obama.......

  • Oooh, Hugh Hefner in the crowd. Where was this recorded?

  • @theScytheofGod > Hef had a show, "Playboy After Dark"

  • @Belit01 So this is that show is what you're saying?

  • @theScytheofGod >Yes, it was a show that was televised from one of his Playboy mansions, he had a variety of talent play there -

  • @theScytheofGod - yes it is (sorry this reply took so long!)

  • that's an epic track. thanks for posting that rarity. Match that kiddies.

  • You "useful idiots" make me want to puke.

  • This is the story of America in a song. But who is the Monster? The Government? The Democrats? the Republicans? Glen Beck? or is it the Unholy trinity of Goldman Sachs, the Federal Reserve + the US Treasury Department? Hmmm maybe its that little GIEKO gecko. Peace.

  • there is nothing more stupid and dangerous than democrats and republican working together, we live in a 2 party political system ,we have the democrat party who is a party with no ideas and we have the republican party who is a party with bad ideas, when they work together in the senate goes something like this :the republican stands up and shout "i have a really bad idea" and then the democrat respond " and we can make it shittier"

  • @makingsense53

government is the monster the rest keep changing beck tells it like it is

  • @dago2732 Right on.

  • This song makes little sense when it's chopped from 9 minutes down to only three! What a weird choice for them to mime, I mean, "play". Still, you gotta love Kay the Canuck lecturing about America's social ills at a Hef party.

  • yup america is sick, takin over the world for its own use, this is what Kay means by monster..

  • Ah, back when my generation looked good in long hair ; )..Hef's crowd not used to heavy blooze ; }

  • One of all places, you would love to participate in the afterparty!

  • one of the best song of 1969...wonderful!

  • GOd blEss....thAnk yOU

  • awesome!!! 5*...!
