Monster was a screed against the U.S., especially Nixon, as I recall. If Kay is a free market capitalist, as you seem to maintain, why hasn't he done any USO shows? He'd be a big hit.
Wake up America! It's coming down the pike. This country will go the way of Egypt Babylon Rome and the Nazis. For what was done yesterday we deserve tomorrow.
As an American who has friends in and traveled throughout Canada, pull your lips over your head and swallow! It's a great country. What are you? An isolated tea bagger punk whose parents must be proud?
@nickernuts73 ironic, isn't it? Here a howling-moon Lefty with Leninist tendencies, John Kay, contributes to what can rightly be called a self-fullfilling prophecy that comes up and smacks us in the head from the opposite direction. Maybe James Maynard Cornhole can take a page from John Boy's book and see what kind of future he's contributing to. But you're absolutely right, the song was originally a Vietnam/filthy-stinking-United States of America protest song.
Speaking of howling at the moon, WTF are you babbling about? John Kay is a *Leninist*!? Maybe you're aware that Kay's childhood was basically an ongoing escape from the Soviet Union? The guy clearly worships America and freedom. He was Born to Be Wild... get it?
Why is it that people that self-identify as "right wing" so predictably view the world in stark, black and white terms. "I'm right wing. Person X disagrees with me, hence he is Lefty, Socialist, Leninist, etc".
The sad thing is this song still rings true in 2010 as it did in 1969 - remember work over money -work must come first before any money can be made. EAT THE RICH RUSH COULD FEED A SMALL TOWN !!!
This is the story of America in a song. But who is the Monster? The Government? The Democrats? the Republicans? Glen Beck? or is it the Unholy trinity of Goldman Sachs, the Federal Reserve + the US Treasury Department? Hmmm maybe its that little GIEKO gecko. Peace.
there is nothing more stupid and dangerous than democrats and republican working together, we live in a 2 party political system ,we have the democrat party who is a party with no ideas and we have the republican party who is a party with bad ideas, when they work together in the senate goes something like this :the republican stands up and shout "i have a really bad idea" and then the democrat respond " and we can make it shittier"
This song makes little sense when it's chopped from 9 minutes down to only three! What a weird choice for them to mime, I mean, "play". Still, you gotta love Kay the Canuck lecturing about America's social ills at a Hef party.
Holy crap, is this relevant today or what!
