  • Like Sparrowhawk this song makes the hair stand up. I saw her for time in DC in the 60's. I was hooked. RIP Hazel.

  • soul comes in all sizes, shapes and colors...

  • When your hair stands on the back of your neck and the emotion just about rips your skin off then you clearly have listened to Hazel. I'm a "HazelNut" if there ever was one. RIP see you on the other side Hazel.

  • My absolutely favorite tune by this incredible talent... epitomizes her talent... her activism... her struggles... and the hard-times for all too many.

  • Beautiful. Thank you @pourmecoffee

  • She brings a chill when she sings this. What feeling in a voice. Hank had it in a different genre. Whatever "it" is, Hazel has it.

  • We lost a national treasure on April 22, 2011. May she rest in peace.

  • this is great stuff, what a beautiful voice!!

  • Thank you for posting this fabulous version. Her voice so sweet and true and plaintive. My ancestors' Southern genes kick in to my Southern California self especialy when I hear Hazel. RIP.

  • Hazel Dickens-A National Treasure!
