I once saw the bay breaking way outside as a left, then wrapping in to a massive closeout, the lip of the wave was as thick as a truck and it seemed to take forever to reach the trough, they (the lifeguards) ordered everyone to higher ground, the waves were breaking up into the lagoon! Jan 1998 it was, shook the very ground like an earthquake, dead fish everywhere, most insane natural force I've ever seen..
