  • That's amazing!

  • i know how its done cause i do somthing very similar 'star-dave forrest' all i'll say is look at how the guys signature "magicalyl" gets smaller at 2:07 then theres a switch at 2:16

  • hi, I'm a magician and I like so much this trick but I can't find it XD can you help me =) thanks a lot. Magic Victor.

  • @magicianvic type in the new of the book and put pdf and download it for free

  • awesome

  • a masterclass

  • I've never actually liked this version of the T&R card because there are several times during the routine that the hand movements are suspicious and a little unfair. But this is probably because I'm thinking from a non-laymens point of view. I like Mathieu Bich's version the best of all T&R's because of the fair and extremely easy handling.

  • @PabloBristly Matthew Bich's TNR is awful. You restore the card, then it show it's a different card... why? Surely that just suggests to the spectator that it's not the same card you tore up? The extra climax pretty much gives them them a solution to how it works. This however, whilst awkward in places, is brilliant. At least the have proof it's the same card as it was at the beginning.

  • @magicrev Well, thats a common misconception about TnR. The card doesn't have to be different - and in the end it can be handed out (just not signed). The change is like you say, an "extra" climax used in a seperate prediction routine - I'm sure you know all that already, just wanted to add that for other readers. I do agree that Hollingsworth version is brilliant, just not for me. I've been able to tweak a few things with TnR to customize a routine that suits me for my performances.

  • He performed it at magic con

  • The magician!

  • amazing that he still looks so young. when was this performed?

  • i suggest that the critics spend some cash and purchase 'drawing room deceptions' and learn how complex this trick is to perform. As for the comments about Guys patter, Most magicians have a set script for each effect and will used it for there whole performing career. I use patter for timing and as a memory cue so i know where i'm at in a routine. Guy is truly the master of this effect hence being in the top 50 of the worlds greatest magic.

  • if you pause at 1.14 i think you can just about make out that the card with the signiture on is folded with a second card behind it being torn.

  • derren brown takes the piss out of this guy at the end of the devils picturebook

  • what bad spectator...well,what can you do...

  • I used to perform The Reformation (though not nearly as elegantly as Guy), & there really is no tape, glue, etc. It's all sleight of hand. Brilliantly constructed sleight of hand I might add.

I had to laugh at vsha2's comment: as charming as Guy is, his patter really hasn't changed more than perhaps a few words over the last decade, or since he was on WGM. I suppose I can't really hold it against him though considering he technically is a lawyer & not a professional performer!

  • @normalityrelief Lols! Well, he may not be a full time pro, but he is FAR BETTER than 95% of full time pro's. His public show "expert at the card table" got the most amazing reviews. I'm so disappointed I may never get to watch the show again. So, so, so disappointed. I have 2 laywomen friends who went and watched the show. They usually don't like magic. They LOVED the show.

By the by, I also used to perform Reformation. I kid you not, I have rarely gotten such strong reactions.

  • @vsha2 I believe that (re: the strong reactions)! I used that effect for bars, kids shows at the local Borders, & everything in between (different patter of course!). It's definitely angle-y, but when you can control the angles, not too much can best it.

I have to admit I never saw him perform anything else, but I've no doubt he put on a fantastic show. I hope he adds as much to the world of the law as he did to the magic world :)

  • Very nice mate.

  • It's a difficult routine, based on the original idea by Wagner.

  • pffff.... so many dumb responses, instead of stupid theories go out and buy Drawing Room Deceptions and learn how it is really done.

  • The radio host (if you watch the other videos as well) is a little bit of a knob.

But seriously, Guy's patter has hardly changed over the last 10 years for this trick. It was perfect for WGM, but not for this situation.

The little joke about tearing things up... appropriate for the light hearted attitude of WGM, but not here. I don't know exactly why, but it wasn't appropriate. Not funny, and came across as a little lame.

BTW, the host is at a v tight angle.

    What a legend.

  • CLOSEST TO REAL MAGIC IVE EVER SEEN. and ive seen ALOT.

  • legeeeeeeeeend!! the king!

  • wow!thats crazy

  • no tape. the trick is called the reformation and only uses sleight of hand. great piece of magic.

  • he is joking
