I had the exact same problem with my UTAUloid, with the weird long notes..
Holding the note/word when you're recording the voicebank for longer helps a ton.

It sounds like there was ether a poor recording system or too much static. I'm sure it could be fixed with a go at Oremo, the program designed to record utau phonics.
