  • Although the 800 series locomotives were designed as passenger engines, in their time the F-E-F's hauled more than their share of freight as well. The 844 in its current incarnation as an excursion engine is almost beside the point. Let alone, I don't have scale UP passenger cars and it would look really stupid hauling the semi-scale ones that I do have.

  • @toytrains1 didn't you know that the up 844 is a passenger locomotive?

  • now thats a steamer!

  • One of the fastest steamers in America

  • You should have her pull the Armor Yellow passenger cars instead of freight cars.

  • @ThomasRivette lol, your right. She's a passenger locomotive

  • the whistle isnt right the real whistle sounds a lot better

  • you should double head the gs-4 and the FEF

  • @tweetsiefan1 Actually, The FEF is RELATED to the UP 844 so The GS-4 4449 Already Doubleheaded with the 844 And i'm sorry but all the FEF were scrapped...

  • nice

  • Actually, the whistle is prototypically correct. Find a video of the 844 in action and listen for yourself.

  • nope I've heard her whistle in person not right

  • LOVE that heavy smoker!!! mustangmangz

  • Looks like the U2G Northern in Trainz 2006.

  • i love steam effects on model trains

  • Why does this engine use twin smoke stacks? For better steam exaust flow at high speed?

  • Your right on the mark. Plus it matched the look of the Challengers and the Bigboys who also had twin smoke stacks.

  • what does a set like this go for?

  • The engine is about $800 to just a bit over $1,000 depending on where you look. MTH has not made the FEF for this year.

  • turn on the red light.

  • can primir run on realtrax

  • Yes, Premier locomotives run on Realtrax, though you need to watch out for the minimum diameter required for the locomotives.

  • why wouldn't they be able to????

  • That train once double headed with Daylight #4449

  • Yes it did, twice, actually. Once in the 1970's when the 4449 was on a break from the American Freedom Train, but it was not on an excursion, just an engine move. This one this past May was a public excursion.

  • Great UP 844
