I've been looking into getting a larger bird and have just fallen in love with the eclectus. What would you say is the most difficult aspect of proper care for this species in specific. I love Riley, he is just fantastic.

Eclectus parrots are truly the most amazing pet you could ask for! I have two, a male and a female, and I love them more than anything! They're such gorgeous and sweet animals! Definitely made me become a bird person :)

To B0domChild666, It's nice of you to reply. It does count that you've had a lovebird. Of course they are very different but caring for any bird takes the same type of dedication. Eclectus can be very moody, & unpredictable but after a few bites you learn to be ready. For the newcomer, I recommend a newly weaned baby, because they are totally loving, and you can learn their likes and dislikes as they grow. Message me on Facebook. Glenda Rendell. Please do not buy an ecelctus until you have read a hundred pages about keeping them in the home. It is not the same as having a budgie in a cage. They have very special needs and if you don't meet those needs the parrot will be very unhappy and you will too. They are very sensitive and will not be loving pets if conditions are not perfect.
Also, they don't automatically just open up and talk. This is not a magic recipe for a fun parrot. You have to be dedicated.

Hi mrwaleed, thanks for viewing and positive comments. Riley is an eclectus roratus parrot and not a quaker. We did have a breeding pair of quakers but had to sell them to downsize our workload. If you were in Australia that would be easy especially we have now Riley and Rosie's 3 young ones available to sell to downsize again. I commented this in my other video. but maybe you can visit some pet shops there in the US. All the best, Brenda

These birds cost between $600 and $2000 depending on availability. Unless you're lucky like me and get one for free with the cage. They need ALOT of attention...

I live on 23 acres of land I have 4 rescued dogs, 2 rescued cats, a hedgehog, 9 chickens, 3 horses, five goats, and a cockatiel but he doesn't talk...I'm a lover of all animals and i know what it takes to care for them, keep them healthy and give them the best of my love. why else would I be watching animal videos. @carlyerae ever had one before or experienced one for more than 5 mins? if not i suggest you do. i also suggest you do a lot of research and read up on care and maintenance as well as different types of parrots and common personality traits (just now realized you posted that 3 months ago lol)
@melspearls86 if you'll read the couple comments before yours you'll see my response to all the flack about how i must not be able to keep an animal alive and how much responsibility parrots are. You don't know me and Just like you know about the lifespan, temperment and responsibilty of a parrot, I KNOW TOO PEOPLE. I'm not really going to go buy a friggin parrot it's just a saying. I have several animals all alive and healthy. Mostly rescued so if an orphaned parrot comes my way I'd take em.

@themarkofthebeast3 - ok that was kinda rude - you don't know me. I live on 23 acres of land I have 4 rescued dogs, 2 rescued cats, a hedgehog, 9 chickens, 3 horses, five goats, and a cockatiel but he doesn't talk...I'm a lover of all animals and i know what it takes to care for them, keep them healthy and give them the best of my love. why else would I be watching animal videos. I probably wont really get one i'm just complimenting the sheer charm of the birdy. why are ppl so rude on youtube?

@carlyerae ever had one before or experienced one for more than 5 mins? if not i suggest you do. i also suggest you do a lot of research and read up on care and maintenance as well as different types of parrots and common personality traits (just now realized you posted that 3 months ago lol)

@melspearls86 if you'll read the couple comments before yours you'll see my response to all the flack about how i must not be able to keep an animal alive and how much responsibility parrots are. You don't know me and Just like you know about the lifespan, temperment and responsibilty of a parrot, I KNOW TOO PEOPLE. I'm not really going to go buy a friggin parrot it's just a saying. I have several animals all alive and healthy. Mostly rescued so if an orphaned parrot comes my way I'd take em.

the owwner sounds like my dads cousin! she devorced with her husband and came to our house and stayed there for 2 weeks and annoyed the HELL OUTA ME!!!!
