You can set the size if that's what you are asking. You can record a Power Point Presentation if you have Power Point. You can import clips from outside of Camtasia. But mainly the programs is used to create tutorials of software programs that are on your computer screen. It is primarily for screen recording but you can also do a motion video of yourself narrating and put it in a corner of the video. You should visit TechSmith or google Camtasia Studio for more info

@runefigter5RS Contact Camtasia, I have never had problems like that. It may be your system resources, not enough scratch disk space, not enough ram, etc. What format are you trying to produce at? Try .mp4

It was basically like an "honor bar" here. The authors (myself in this case) set the price and reep the benefits of the download charge. I made it a modest charge hoping folks would help me out here! When YT first started this I don't think they took into account the free downloaders. They have since abandoned this option.

No need to. The new Camtasia makes producing YouTube vids very easy, it's one of their presets and they have their own videos. This is for folks with the older versions of Camtasia, only.

The only challenge I've had with Camtasia 7 is full screen final project. I'll import an avi or mp4 and it's rendered well. But I can't figure out how to get full screen 1280X720. It's HD but small with huge borders.

How do you use auto zoom? I mean what do I need to press/click for it to zoom in?

I do all the zooming in Camtasia Studio after finishing the recording. In post production you just click in the Timeline bar for the video at points of interest and stop, then use the Zoom command on the sidebar. A Zoom box opens and lets you set the fade in control, the magnification, and the area you want. When you want to zoom back out or pan to a different area, click on the Timeline and stop and go to zoom again.

This is really helpful. I've been meaning to create videos like this one to show people how to create videos on Adobe, or just create vids in general. Snagit does ok, but you can't zoom in and out in the editing program. Plus when you're playing the video it has real crummy quality. I'll have to try Camtasia Studio.

That's an issue that occurs while recording. You can ADD a second sound track after recording, though!

When I add a video that already has sound in it (to edit) to the timeline only the video shows up. The audio timeline is empty

If i screen record the video first (with audio on) then i can get the audio to go in timeline OR if I screen record the audio, produce it as mpeg4 then add it seperately I then can get the audio in timeline. But both ways seem unnecessary.

HOW DO I GET AUDIO IN THE TIMELINE at the same time i put the video w/sound in the timeline?

Obviously this tutorial is for Camtasia Studio NOT CamStudio. No one is asking you to buy it, I did buy it and it has a lot of features and produces really good quality vids. I've seen a lot of poor quality vids done with CamStudio but not sure if that's the program or user's fault.

Not sure what you are doing. If you do in fact have Camtasio Studio 5 or 6, go to Techsmith's website and watch their videos. It's very easy. If you have CamStudio, well that is NOT the same program and I cannot help you with that.

You can see how much time recorded in 6 also. I am now using 6 for my latest HD type videos. Also in 6 this method of changing the file name for youtube is not necessary. Version 6 already has a preset for YouTube, so this tut would not apply for that version.

Just download a widget of a clock to put on your desktop or put a clock in front of you to keep track of the recording time. But this is kind of moot if you are going to edit stuff out or add title screens, or change the fps. That time is always listed in the production window and depending on what format you save in, will likely be listed in the lower right of the movie interface.

That's kinda vague. I'm not a psychic! I don't work for TechSmith, but it sounds like your computer has connections issues connecting to the net to get the upgrade. Go there directly, not through the"Check for updates" in the application. And download and install directly from their site.

This tutorial is NOT necessary for users of Camtasia 6 because this version gives you the options for mp4 in Custom Settings, This vid was also made b4 YouTube even offered the HD quality option for uploads.

I think Your processor is not up to theminimum Camtasia recommends. Microsoft Windows XP or Windows VistaMicrosoft DirectX 9 or later version1.0 gHz minimum ~ Recommended: 2.0 GHz CoreDuo or equivalent processor500 MB RAM minimum etc. Please check directly with Techsmith for these types of issues,Now I'm also in Camtasia 6 and these steps aren't necessary cause they put in the mp4 forma option.

For normal tutorials in capturing the screen like I do with my Photoshop Vids this is what I choose after recording--I produce choosing the .mp4 format at 1280x720 pixel size, using a 6 fps and keyframe 10, Quality Setting of 60%.Audio set to 128 kbps. I've never had problems with the video capture software but you might w/ games because their fluid movement might require a higher frame rate. The higher the frame rate the more fluid the movement & the file size also increases exponentially.

IMPORTANT NOTE on the above settings. Your original capture must be either 1280x720 or a direct aspect ratio of that to look and produce as an HD quality video. So drag your green dashed marquee to these dimensions then click the chain link to lock proportion and then drag in or out to desired capture area. It will now be in a proportionate aspect. Follow up by CHOOSING 1280x720 when you go to produce or when you drag the media into the timeline the dimensions box opens, so cutomize it there.

You may be running short on RAM. If you're trying to record a hefty software demo or games, then you're probably locking up because there's not enough memory to process. While the bare minimum requirements for Camtasia 6 is 500 MB Ram, they strongly recommend at least 2 Gigabytes. I have 8 Gigabytes of Ram.

Hi. I have the trial of Camtasia 6. I'm having a problem recording games. It will record full screen on my desktop then when I start a game it will record it fullscreen but when played back this full screen is like a window in the top left surrounded by a black with the windows toolbar along the very bottom (full screen size). Did you look at the pdf link in the sidebar?

Probably just look for the same menu options in both the production screen area and the recording box (2 separate areas). I don't have 6 yet but I'm sure the menus haven't changed and that Start Screen is an option you can turn on/off usually found under the Help Menu.

That's a YouTube thing that they do. It doesn't look like that natively on my computer. YouTube changed the aspect ratio of their player to be wide screen. I produce in full screen.
