  • What was this. I play it nearly every day It was no punk or something NO it were the Au Pairs and now I am grandfather. We dont torture.

  • @ronaldvanderkleij

It would take an eternity to explain...

  • Guns.. Not Butter..Gadafi's Tanks...Made In England.

  • @mixn44

    They're Russian T55s.

  • World, listen to this!

  • Good band. Equally as cool because I actually live in Armagh

  • @MsSecondBanana

    And you're still alive ?

  • ...and this may be their best song ever! Highly political, very temporal, but with such a lot of feeling. I shook me then ( the lyrics I mean ) and it still does. Man, what a band, what musicians. Why doesn't nobody care annymore these days, why are there no more bands that really get involved??? I miss this real engaged feeling in music, It's like it's dyied out with good old Bob Dylan.

  • @TheOBOM

    Indeed. The X-Bloody-Factor rules.

  • One of the best live bands ever.

  • I saw them at Reading Uni. Sometime (around 1981 ithink). Fantastic. I can remember it with great clarity all these years later. What a night.

  • Tell them they were great!

  • nice post

  • very coo. And very nice sound quality, thank you

  • It's particularly sad that Jane, the bassist, no longer does music. :(

  • @Timmybear any of them.... just paul, the guitarrist. The singer is a lawyer now.

  • @fredespanish

The drummer Pete Hammond is still active in music, teaching percussion according to Wikipedia. I get the occassional comment on my Au Pairs uploads along the lines of "Bloody hell, he's my teacher, I can't believe he was in a band like that !"

  • @roddy76to86 Holy shit!!! Anyway... this is a great band. Actually my favorite!

  • We need a new cover version of this in the USA....

  • The drummer is my drum teacher (I think) and the guitarist teacher guitar at my school, lol

  • Yes, I've seen other comments to the effect that they are teaching.

But they were a great group, I saw them live at Aberdeen students union way back in 1981, and it was a superb live performance. You can tell them that if you like, that'd be great - "Some old git on YouTube I spoke to saw you back in 1981 and said you were great" haha.

But thanks to you I've found in your favourites the only other visual material of them I know of. I'll send you the other clip.

  • @jollywood999 Hey..I used to live with Pete Hammond for 5 yrs in what can only be described as a party house...is it Paul the guitarist?...both lovely guys :))

  • @TheUchoob Yep, Paul's the guitarist :-)

  • Now if someone can find some more footage from the days when they played live!

  • If only ! The only other footage I've heard about that might exist is from that same gig, and it is locked away somewhere mired in red tape.

Apart that is from the memories of a gig I saw of them at Aberdeen students union in 1981 locked in my head, sadly not downloadable................................yet ?!

  • a fellow traveller with Au Pairs back in the day - Delta 5 - was also great and it would be fantastic as well if someone could dig up footage of them playing live. One can only dream. At least Gang of Four got back together so we have good stuff of them!

  • que buen tema el de este parch!!!

  • Comment removed

  • wow this is really good, whats the vocalists name?

  • Lesley Woods.

  • excellent music

  • Agreed !

  • The best Au Pairs tune!!! Thanks Roddy

  • Glad you liked it ! I might post a couple more, but I think most of them are on YouTube by now. Or the good ones anyway, they did do a couple that weren't so great.
