I have the boxset on dvd and have seen the episode Klansmen which has never been shown on tv, i can understand why they banned it as it is a very disturbing and uncomfortable episode but it is without doubt a very powerful episode.
Did you know that John Simm at "Life on Mars" took "Bodie" as a role model for his character of "Sam Tyler"? Actually, his appearance in the BBC-series (which is a million times better than the American shit-copy!!!) is pretty much based on the "Bodie-character" with his for the seventies unusual short-cutted hair... whoa... and not to forget about the leather jacket! Did I already mention: I'm a huge fan of "Life on Mars" and especially of Mr. John Simm (btw: the best MASTER ever at Dr. Who!)
@JeannieGene No. Sorry. John Simm is far too young and "nice" to play the Master. Certainly never even comes close to Anthony Ainley and Roger Delgado.
they were a top brass unit and gordon jackson was the man to keep em in line, that cool iconic bit with the car/window was done in the sweeney 2 btw, not sure which was first tho
The only thing spoiling this intro is that Cowley speaks over what is (In my view) the best piece of music in the entrie universe!!! Yes, we know you have special men, you don't need to brag us about it!
come on Ed, don't be so picky about that *ROFL*...but I confess " Yes, we know you have special men, you don't need to brag us about it !" is priceless hehehehe.....
I swear on my life! That Gordon Jackson is my great great uncle... Its just that his sister was my greatgreat grandma and she married someone whos 2nd name was deane and then they had a baby boy who was mi granddad
if you pause it at 00:06/00:07 (when all the silhouettes are shown) are they just different images of cowley/bodie/doyle or are they other CI5 people?
This was edited in for when The Professionals airs in repeats or syndication. The original footage was the "assault course" opening mated with the Cowley dialogue (i.e. on its first broadcast, the "car smash" title has never had the Cowley speech).
Hudson?!!! Who knew he had another life from Upstairs Downstairs? Right on!!!!!!!!!1

Brian Clemens shows always had the top themes - "Thriller" is one of his best but IMHO "Journey To The Unknown" is the best theme tune ever.

"Special men... from every service"...
There exactly the kind of men you'd want!!!
it's easy to look at it today and say it's a bit ridiculous, but this was, and is, a BRILLIANT series, and i bloody love it! :)

Wow with cowley's voice it's excellent...even if according to me he speaks a bit too fast
in this situation he doesn't have to be so nervous as he use to be when he's on action ;))

Which bright spark came up with the opening shot of the car smashing through glass? It's genius.

Even today, doing a handbrake turn is referred to as "doing a Bodie".
