No you see in the Game 'Sonic Adventures' for the 'DreamCast' it was said that, Robotnik is Eggman's Grandfather, this is later said again in the T.V show 'Sonic X' (wich by the way if you look has several episodes actually acting out the game 'Sonic Adventures').

So now people newish to Sonic and those who just, 'play it every so often' think they are 'one 'n the same' but they are not, they are just related.

It depends. Robotnik was named after his grand father. Robotnik was just given the nickname eggman by sonic, which would make eggman and robotnik the same character. Most people just dont know about the grandfather.

Here in england we've always known him as Robotnik since the beginning untill adventure that is.

At first in adventure Sonic used the word "eggman" as more of an insult based off his round body. but then it seemed he just took on the "insult" as his own name. and i've been waiting for his name to be changed back to robotnik ever since.

@FlickyF Yeah, don't get me wrong, if he was called eggman from the start, i suppose i wouldn't have anything to complain about. and yeah robotnik sounds much more evil than the Egg Man. I mean it sounds like he's either got a fetish for beatles songs OR he just liked being took the piss out of.

My gripe with the whole Eggman/Robotnik thing is that they decided to change it half way through. What was so wrong with stopping with robotnik? IMO Nothing lol. Oh well he'll always be Robotnik to me.

With Sonic Megamix, you could play through Sonic 1 with Sonic (Who can spindash, super peel-out, and homing attack), Tails, Knuckles, Shadow (Who can double jump and use 5 rings to boost) and Mighty(Who can use special abilities with certian shields) It's a rom hack of Sonic 1, but the file is an .iso, or Sega CD game file. Google that mess.

The Knuckles one is a Sprite Change. It's apparently Half-done, seeing as in certain parts (Like When you're on a Spring) the Sprite changes to a Red Sonic. Same for Metal Sonic.

If you want a good Knuckles in Sonic 1 hack, then you definately need to check out Stealths, its complete, no glitches, all the backgrounds and badniks look the same and you can use Knuckles glide which is awesome

Robotnik couldn't do anything but run and jump. He was pretty much invincible.
