  • Anybody else had "na na na na na na na na" in their head while cars raced?

  • "Napoleonian tragedy" Sic...

  • i cant believe they carried on with the race. thats fucked up

  • Nobody thought it was a good idea to say.. build a fence??

  • Thats fucked up!

  • 83 people...oh my fuckin god..

  • go speed racer go !

  • these people are actual drivers more than anything else

  • many people were decapitaded, and they still finish the race, some retired for respect, they ask jaguar to retire but declined.

  • they continued the race after 79 people died, but dan wheldon dies nd they end it. times sure have changed

  • 1:16 Jesus Fucking Christ...

  • 1:16 fucking slammed....jesus christ

  • And people say Indycar is not safe! Yeah! Right!

  • and the race goes on !! WTF oh the good old days

  • Modern day news is for pussies. Its incredible to me that they show the actual consequences, and there's no interracial news team warning you that "this might be disturbing." Interesting to see how much simpler the world used to be, wish I could have lived back then.

  • i want to be a reporter just to talk like this.

  • Is it me or is there at 01:25 on the bottom right corner someone is on their back with their face open......

  • @kaoruhonjou it's everyone; that is a ravaged face

  • @kaoruhonjou You mean the guy next to the burning car? That was the driver. He was killed instantly on impact with the ground.

  • I am American and this was sad, FD4 got their gay idea from an actual tragedy.

    I hate Final Destination

  • actualy 84 died, 83 spectators and the driver

  • whats this guy jewish? having a sulk about the holocaust every chance he gets

  • @Antonio001z Keep in mind, this was only 10 years after the war, where Levegh was driving a Mercedes and since Mercedes was a German car it stands to reason that the French spectators having been killed by a German car plays into an already uneasy relationship. Mercedes withdrew from the race all together immediately after the crash as a sign of respect. But even with that, the media were definitely going to grill them.

  • @whipivy how come you so much about the event? are 60+ years old or something?

  • @Antonio001z Cicero said it best with, "Not to know what happened before you were born is to remain forever a child." Knowing your history doesn't take age. I know Abe Lincoln was killed in 1865 and I'm not 150 years old.

Unfortunately, your attitude of winking at ignorance is becoming the dominant one. It's sad, really, that Americans are becoming so clueless of what came before them and what happens outside the US.

  • @waddyprocess im not american and i have dont a fair bit of reading up on history however i have never heard of this le mans disaster thats what led me to imply that you are 60+ years old . . seeing as sporting events genrally are not remembered over time

  • @Antonio001z In the first place, I was not the object of your reply. Second, I'm 25. Third, you now know of the '55 Le Mans Crash. Does that make you 60? No. You now hold in your possession another small part of the history that came before you and that didn't take age. It took curiosity and now takes memory.

    Best of luck!

  • @waddyprocess it is indeed sad that Americans have become so clueless on so many levels. As Americans we have the right to voice this concern as it is not intended to be demeaning to our country but rather a very valid concern of where we are headed.

Back on topic: this was a tragedy that has no equal in the sport of auto racing. Those who cannot take part in learning the past have no hope for the future.

  • I miss news told like this. Show people the carnage and report on how bad it is with music.

  • It's unbelievable that they'd make the car's frame out of a magnesium alloy that's so incredibly flammable. The good'ol days, lol.

  • @TerrestrisExtra

They still make them, they still make oldschool magnesium VW racing Bug engines.

  • such carnage.....just wow

  • cant belive this wa real...no security whatsoever ....ridiculos

  • @jjmunson i was actually talking about the pit crew @ 00:53 and how slow they move compared to modern crews. BTW pretty stupid idea to make a racing car out of magnesium alloy its like placing a sack of thermite along with the driver.

  • wow look at the pit crew - slow basterds!

  • @johnten123 it's because the car was made of magnesium - they had absolutely no idea how to get that fire out

  • I wish news were done this way nowadays.

  • this must be the last episode of speed racer

  • those were wilder times when people didnt gave a shit about security measures

  • he'd make a terrorist proud

  • Am I the only one who laughed at the guy when he said "Which blazes like a furnace"?

  • @cliveman5 Probably.
