@deechisha Yes they do.It depends on the kind of Buddhism they practice and their own interpretation of their faith.Many Buddhist monks in Thailand eat meat.Almost 95% of Thais are Buddhist and most people eat meat.It is different to places like Southern India where most people are vegetarian.Just because these monks eat meat doesn't make them 'fake'.How do you know what is in their hearts or minds?Who are you to say who is fake and who is genuine?

@Tobius11 donation to the monk is a worship of the god. we Asian take the monk as a symbol of guidance. just like how westerner are to the priest back in the medieval time. as indicate in the beginning, they come to bless and praying for the house, to keep the dark spirit as in bad luck away. But these day, Monk tend to take advantage of the people free-will of giving to the temple. Back in the date Monk doesn't meat but now they do. which is against the monk of sacrificing the living.

@Tobius11many people who are not buddhist or have no religious beliefs may find it hard to understand the point of a monk, because they have to live a life of poverty there really is no practical use for them because they dont make money for themselves, however is like history teachers you dont need history in order to be successful in life however its good for a society to know so they dont repeat events you need to understand the teachings of buddha in order to see the use of monks
