  • THIS IS THE BEST BEER REVIEW I'VE SEEN!

  • @MrTerryKay Thank you Terry, Cheers mate

  • Great review Simon, I hope you look out for my review on the Coffee version of this beer! My first English beer reviewed on cam, filmed today and should be up in a week or so. I will probably make a video response to this one so you can't miss it! Cheers!

  • @Tantrum777 Hello pal, make sure you do and I will add it to this review, will be interesting to hear what you think of the Coffee, no many people rate it that highly, Cheers

  • I had their coffee porter and wasn't too crazy about it. I saw these beers at the beer store today and they were only about $4 a bottle. We should do a duo review of one of their brews. I love chocolate stouts and porters!

  • @ChadzBeerReviews Yeah they are great arent they, and we are just hitting the cold dark months where they seem to fit so well, Cheers Chad

  • Glad you liked that 1 you did say you were especially looking forward to it :)

  • @monkey42O It was very good, hope you can find it where you are pal, Cheers!!

  • i may try that when its legal for me to drink

  • @impostergir007 Hello there well worth a try, good strong Chocolate taste, you should get one for xmas day as a nice little treat, Cheers!!

  • @realaleguide i shall but only worry is shipping cost im in the US

  • @impostergir007 I just spoke to Chad ( beer reviewer from America) and he said you can buy one from a specialist beer store, If there is one near you? Cheers

  • @realaleguide i dont think so but there is an international market near by ill check it out but thanks

  • Wow, Simon, so you found a Holy Ale! A BIG TEN!! Excellent, I'd love to get my hands on some of that stuff! Oh, and BTW, it was fine that you first called it an ale, since in general porters ARE ales! There is a so-called "porter" brewed here in the States by an old brewery called Yuengling that is actually a lager. In that respect, it is by at least the British definition not a true porter.

  • @beerbrain420 Oh right thats great, I didnt know that to be honest, Where did the name Porter come from then Glen? Cheers

  • @realaleguide Well Simon, here it is according to Wikipedia: "The name was first used in the 18th century from its popularity with the street and river porters of London." So there you have it!

  • @spizzenergie Thanks no problem, this is not a session beer by any means, I reckon 2 would be my limit, thats the thing with these sweet Beers, lovely for one though, Cheers

  • The only beer I had by them is their Coffee Porter. It was awful. It tasted like office coffee. It's good to know they make a very good chocolate porter.

  • @BeerichiTuba Oh thats a shame, I will stear clear of their Coffee Porter then, you might want to review this one, very good, Cheers

  • Haha! I loved that, the only down side to this beer, was that they didnt give you more! Great review, not too many 10 outta 10's, so id say your neck is quite safe.

  • @Pibbmasta Lovely Chocolate Porter this, its starting to get cold here in the UK, perfect time for Stout/Porter season, wish it was in a pint bottle though haha, Cheers!!

  • nice one mate ,,sounds like a good 1 ,,,peace out

  • @MACKYBHOY1 Hows it going Mack, you reviewed any Scottish Ale's yet, Cheers

  • @realaleguide not yet mate.im trying my hand at homebrewing just now,,ive posting a few walk through vids ,,be back one the beer reviews after that ,,have a wee look if you want,,peace out

  • Sounds like some good stuff Simon! Best beer brewed with chocolate I have had, was from the american brewery Southern Tier. The beer was called Choklat. It was a fantastic Imperial Stout brewed with chocolate! I actually get alot from Meantimes beer range, maybe i should review some of their stuff. Great review Simon! You should do the Punk IPA next, to get prepared for the stuff Tim (19timus1) is sending you (becuase it is alot like an american IPA). What is he sending btw? Cheers!

  • @TheMasterOfHoppets I have heard of Southern Tier but never tried any of their brews, I would like to one day, yes you should definatly review some Meantime brews this one was awsome, i am going to review it soon(punk ipa) but im not sure what exactly Tim is sending me, im really looking forward to it though, he says he is preparing it now, he is very kind, have you checked out my brewery tap com, they have loads of brews on offer, I might join the beer club for a suprise each quarter, Cheers

  • @realaleguide Cool, looking forward to see what you get, it is so kind of him! Yeah i did, they had some pretty nice beers, altough they don't ship to anywhere else than Britain... Cheers!

  • @TheMasterOfHoppets Oh right didnt know that, are there beer clubs in Denmark Peter, I think its a cool idea, not knowing what you are going to get, Cheers mate.

  • @realaleguide Well not really, but i think it is a great idea aswell! Cheers!

  • ooooh, it's getting that time of year. One of the best things I like about the dark cold months is that it's a great time for porter. I've never seen this porter before.

I enjoy London porter very much. Time for a good stout too - which reminds me, I went to Brugges earlier this year and I've still got some Hercule Stout left - the best stout I've ever had. Check it out, brewed by Shelton Brothers - great bottle too.

  • @Kie77 To be fair I havent had this before or even heard of it, its great that these Beer clubs send out a box of suprises each quarter, Im the same as you I like Porters/Stouts in the dark months, looking forward to more, I will check out the brew you mentioned hope I can find one to try, Cheers

  • One of those is all i can handle. Both the choc and vanilla get so sweet that's about all i can do. They are a unique pleasure though.

  • @pinegrove33 I only had the one to be honest, I probably would have struggled a bit drinking more than 2, you certainly couldnt go an all night session on it, unless you had an extreme sweet tooth. Cheers

  • I've tried one or two from their line years ago, I think it was the London Stout and London Porter. About time I revisited them. I'll give this one a go.

  • @StumpyJoeJr Im definatly going to try the rest of their range one day, that Porter was mind blowing, hope you can find it where you are in the States pal, Cheers

  • The bottle looks great, its always nice to have a unique design or art work to set the beer/brand apart from the rest.

Love chocolate stouts/porters, would you say this is say better than Young's Double Chocolate Stout or worse (probably not worse since you gave it a 10)? I'll have to see if I can pick this one up, always heard great reviews from Meantime Brewery.

  • @mavxr Im a big fan of individual styles of bottling too, makes the brewery stand out from the rest, Im yet to try Youngs Double Chocolate Stout yet, iv been meaning to pick one up for 6 months believe it or not, but this Porter was top draw, best iv had yet, Cheers
