  • The Truth is Jerry Falwell is a thief that STOLE the PTL Ministry from Jim and Tammy Bakker so he could get the Inspirational Satellite Network and also get their mailing lists for himself. (it's all about money) He was totally greedy and self serving and never ever apologized for destroying a world wide ministry. He should have been ashamed doing what he did, lying the way he did and destroying the Bakker's lives without an ounce of remorse or regret. I wonder if he regrets what he did now

  • @SuperJimmy1971 You're obviously delusional. Nobody in these circles is or was honest and you need your head checked. Better yet, read the book "Forgiven" by Charles Shepard. It won a Pulitzer. It's about Jim, Tammy and all these thieves. Unfortunately it's people like you who get sucked in by these shysters.

  • @rtisi No, I am not delusional, it is a fact that he did steal the ministry and lie! And for your information I DID READ the book FORGIVEN, and Charles Shepard himself said Falwell tricked the Bakkers into turning over PTL to him. That is in the book. Now your opinion is that they are thieves, That's fine if that is what your really think, but the fact still remains that Falwell was a scumbag thief that ruined many lives.

  • @SuperJimmy1971 Thieves stealing from thieves....

  • these guys should have been shut down and done with

  • How unproffessional to walk in during the opening of the show. Seemes like he was WAY off about be viable. Note to that attorney....bad legal advice.

  • @kona1967 You can tell the COO seemed very angry. At the same time, you can tell he has a "don't-give-a-damn" type of attitude.

  • i have often thought how the judge in the trial of Jim Bakker was allowed to act as I have read in the manner he did let alone the original 45 year term he imposed on Mr.Bakker. My question is why was it left in the palm and blame of Mr. Bakker when it was falwell who as well soliciated on air and other ways monies to operate Husa ? On a latter note once Jim and Tammy Bakker were removed the show was as as disney without sparkle. I feel the Bakkers drew so many lost soles by being fun

  • Give us your money and we'll make sure you get to heaven. Nothing new here, same old BS.

  • @Albtraumen not true ! People had to realize this was a show that had to have offerings as no commercial tv allowed time to advertise and help with cost.Plus The Bakkers give back. You always had a gift from their ministery. Plus god bless you if you depend on any man or money to get to Heaven. They just give you direction, and we know what happens to some who do not follow.

  • @LASZLOBOY1 Then why didn't they just pass the plate like they do in church? Do you think that this is the first televangelist I've seen that has cried poverty and debt and begged for LOTS of money or no more show? If they can't pay their bills then they've bitten off more than they can chew and deserve to go down.

There is no heaven, I'll take care of me and mine, thank you. You take care of you and yours, don't come knocking at my door. I'm not that entertained by superstitious twaddle.

  • "Ron and I are trying to figure out who's on the show today."

Even harder when the COO abruptly shows up like that.

Gary McSpadden could have done fairly well as a talk-show host.

  • jf was a very twisted, and evil man. This is a great vid of just how close your true friends truly can be in a time if desperation.

They turned a fun place into ruins.

  • Gary McSpadden, Doug Oldham, Ron Aldridge are the hosts.

  • We STILL don't fully know what is the truth and what are lies. I think I have a pretty good idea, after having kept up-to-date on the goings on, and by reading the books.

  • @CincinnatiGifts i agree. so many did not read beyond the rag mag's. Jim and Tammy both lost everything. For J falwell to not allow them anything ,treat them like dirt and then bankrupt such a grand place when Mr Bakker said it was in ok condition and could be saved just tell's me falwell wanted them ,their lives, and home to be removed. He has had to meet his maker ,and I laugh at the thought of it being in Heaven because Tammy might get him first.

  • Wonder if they'd get an Bush/Obama

    bailout?

Oh and by the way.......YOU'RE FIRED!!!!!

  • I know that this is JUDGING but looking at Falwell in this video make me ill. He looks shifty and devious. But then...that is me judging him by his outward appearance. I still would not trust the guy to walk my dog....

  • Comment removed

  • Did PTL fail because the people just did not come to the park or did Falwell sabotage the place? Jim stated in his book that Falwell and his cronies wanted PTL to fail and let it go down in flames. But I see that in your 1988 video that there was NOBODY at the park.

I know it's ancient history now but I was just curious.

Whatever Falwell did he is answering for it now.

  • I want to thank you again for these videos.

SHAME ON SEEING THE NUMBER OF VIEWS, AND TO ME PERSONALY IT IS RUDE TO NOT LEAVE A POSOTIVE OR NEGATIVE POST ,OR SHOW OF APPRECIATION. You have allowed pricless, appreciated videos, and such great time in putting these together.

IM GREATFUL, Shame on prople who cannot leave a comment-

    GREG

  • Well, what would REALLY be sad is when these videos have 4-5,000 views each, or more, and still have relatively few comments.

I guess I should just be happy that they are being viewed, and hopefully bringing back memories for those who had the opportunity to visit Heritage USA in the 80's

  • I know then you will have to probably comment once a week- lol !

But still I think comments are respectful as for many years people have begged for these- STRANGE- But I have just seen places that have been up 3 years, and I just now left comment's LOL

  • Comments are respectful, I agree. I drop by the Heritage USA Yahoo group every once in a while, and have made a few comments in there. That group is about as dead as can be. No one comments, even with close to 700 members.

I guess if the members aren't going to comment in a dedicated Yahoo group which is all about Heritage USA, it must be expecting too much for ppl to comment on related YouTube vids.

    C'est la vie.

  • I think the moderators lead on a subject long enough and then GO ON A RANT - I was removed I think, and received an email after asking why, and Rick said BROTHER IN CHRIST YOU NEED HELP WITH ISSUES- You disrespected DR, FALWELL, by calling him FOUL WELL- Im glad I do not live with him- yikes they seem old in that group- I just ysterday heard the same complaint- Plus they think they need a board of directors- and have one -LOL It's a Yahoo group for goodness sakes- LOL-

    Greg

  • I know, the age group is different- I just think F-WELL lied to make it look possible, and knew he was putting it into bankruptsy- foulwell never mentioned it again, and I was taught that you are to ask forgivness, HE NEVER WENT TO TAMMY FAYE ,NOR JIM - Possibly God has a place for this kind of religion ? I just know things were not going to fall apart at the rate of speed it did under f-wells watch. JIM HAD FAITH IT WOULD BE JUST FINE IF HE WAS ALLOWED BACK.

  • again, he is focused on the camera, their is no audience- if it were an audience as packed as they have shown, things should have been way better than this hargrave say's count that ammount each day- lolol again FUOL WELL KNEW HOW TO EDIT- and now I know he was in VA as this aired.

  • Well Falwell couldn't possibly be in two places at once, now could he? He couldn't be running his camp in Lynchburg Va & at the same time running Heritage USA into bankruptcy.

I, too, am sure he was in Lynchburg recording that little segment at the beginning.

Also, don't the members of the audience look considerably older? It looks as if the average age of the audience is about 55 years old. I don't remember seeing so many older folks in the audience.

Maybe it WAS an edited segment.

  • OMG--I am just seeing the, Dramatic COO,Mr. Hargrave, YIKES ! Ok and I also think the audience is possibly about 50 people, not what they show as to be a packed house, It looks like an old audience shot from a few months prior- EDITING TRICKS PLAYED TO MAKE THIS LOOK PROMOSING- I would have fallen asleep back then. The show lost the main theme, message, and basicly ended up begging for way more money and doing so faster that when The Bakkers were on- PATHETIC !

    Greg

  • PLUS- I can almost swear this Foul well was not in Charlotte in this scene asking for 1.4 million, He I think is in LYNCHBURG VA,

  • foul well begging for money- knowing his plan was to bankrupt PTL- HE IS NAUSIATING- GROSS. ALMOST FUNNY TO LOOK BACK AT- But still it today reflects what this man did.

  • Indeed, Falwell did more damage to Christianity than the Bakkers could EVER have managed. The Bakkers loved EVERYONE, and it was especially true with Tammy Faye. The Bakkers did so much to help people. Tammy Faye even went to a womens' prison to minister to the female inmates there. I don't think Falwel would have had his limo or jet come within 5 miles of a prison.

Falwell was the real reason that Heritage USA went under. He was a complete mess.

  • That's such baloney! I can't believe anyone could say this. The Bakker's were frauds. Jerry was a great man!

  • A "great man" wouldn't have tried to take over PTL for himself. Falwell was so jealous of Jim & Tammy and PTL that he couldn't see straight. He saw an opportunity to try to jump in and take over the ship when the captain was in trouble because he wanted to be seen as the savior of PTL. When he realized he had bitten off more than he could chew- that he was never going to be as good as the Bakkers at raising money to keep the ministry afloat Falwell fled back to Lynchburg!

    Such a loser he was.

  • I never said he didn't make mistakes, but he wasn't a charlatan like the Bakkers and Oral Roberts and Jimmy Swaggart and Benny Hinn and Joyce Meyer and Joel Osteen.etc.etc. etc. He started a great university that will thrive until the Lord returns! That's his legacy. Consider the other's legacies....

  • Indeed, he did start a great university, and I am hopeful that you are right- that it will thrive until the Lord returns.

But what about PTL & Heritage USA? They certainly didn't survive & thrive, did they? Certainly the Bakkers weren't perfect, but they certainly didn't deserve to lose everything when Falwell did what he did. The six million annual visitors to Heritage USA didn't deserve to lose Heritage USA / PTL because Falwell pushed it into bankruptcy

  • Consider the "others' " legacies, indeed. Jim & Tammy created a worldwide TV ministry that reached out to people all over the world- potentially reaching hundreds of millions. The Bakkers reached out to unwed mothers. To homeless men, helping to get them back on their feet. Tammy ministered to convicts in prisons.

For all of their mistakes, I'd have chosen the Bakkers over Fawell any day, and so, too, would the 6 million + visitors of Heritage USA who witnessed the great things they had done.

  • People only seem to remember the bad things about other people. What about all the countless GOOD things that never seemed to get mentioned in the press?

  • Have you had an opportunity to meet both the Bakkers, and Falwell, personally?

    I have.

The Bakkers loved people. Loved being near them. Loved chatting and so forth. Check out some of my videos in which I was a mere 5 feet away from the Bakkers for nearly 25 minutes and see what type of people they were.

I happened to stumble upon Falwell inside the ice cream parlor on Main Street at Heritage USA. A completely different person. He acted like he didn't want to be near the common folk.

  • Well, you can believe what you want. I am going desist from commenting further. 1 Sam. 26:9-I know many people that knew Jerry and they would take issue with you. One chance meeting is not a barometer to judge a man-a legacy is. Blessings to you.

  • You're right- a one chance meeting isn't a barometer. But I believe I've considered the legacies of both Falwell & the Bakkers.

Falwell created a university for higher education.

The Bakkers created a worldwide TV ministry that could have potentially touched hundreds of millions. The Bakkers helped & ministered to the poor, the unwed, the homeless, to criminals, and created a park (Heritage USA) where Christians could come together.

    And Falwell essentially destroyed it.

  • thank God Jerry Fatwell is dead
