  • Saved my life with this ;)

  • can I use this with sonar7 producer

  • AWesomeness.

  • What is the purpose of Bass Rider?

Why can't Vocal Rider be applied to bass?

  • @tardzillamovies They're two different audio engines. Try the demo of both and you'll see that each one works best on it's own material (Vocal Rider for vocals, Bass Rider for bass.)

  • Can I make synth sound with this? Yes?

  • where can i have waves link anybody ??

    thanx

  • @amdispersed waves.com

  • @danielwaves its not working cant download any softwares

  • @amdispersed What are you trying to download? waves.com is definitely the correct link so try again.

  • this is my favorite plugin for vocals. It makes my life so much easier. I can have layers upon layers of vocals going on and they are all perfectly level with eachother, then all I have to do is some slight volume automation for fade ins and outs, and something like " oh the verses and harmonies should be at -2.4 on that bar, but all of it should go up on the chorus back to -1.8" its a blessing from the Gods.

  • I did everything you said as far as setting up vocal rider in the track, but it doesn't show the audomation, please help

  • Nice video

  • Sorry if this has been asked before, but should I put the vocal rider at the start of the plugins chain or at the end of the chain on the vocal track?

  • Does this plugin work with Propellerhead Record?

  • I have a question guys, I was giving a stereo track and all the these vocals. Is vocal rider going to work if I create a group and just insert it on the Aux track? If so, can you tell me with the Aux need to me in read, write, latch etc?

  • can we add gtr3 with reaper please help me out

  • Interesting tool. I wonder if it can be used to replace the compressor completely in some cases (it seems to work like a compressor with slow attack). For example, on bass.

  • hey better show me how you did this nice stereo image ??? lol

  • Is it best to use this plug in with the overall vocal or the each particular vocal i.e.e main, bv's adlibs etc?

  • Sorry to sound so stupid but could you demo how to send "all the tracks to bus one." I'm just starting out and love this plugin. Also , does it matter how much motion one wants the fader to have, or is it just a preferential thing? I wouldn't have a clue as to how much motion should be used for dance, rock or ballad vocals.

    Thanx

  • @mimoocho getting all the tracks to bus 1 is simple. just go to each individual track and pull it up kinda like how you put on a plug in. should be near the input/output. and with settings like this there is no wrong or right amount just use your ears till it sounds like a good mix :) hope that helps

  • I like the way it works. Even though the example in this video was a bit too much.

You could tell from closing your eyes, when Vocalrider raised or lowered the vocal track.

    Thanks for the vid.

  • This thing is going to make me forget how to compress vocals lol

  • hi shahar can this be used for riding a delay on vocals ?

  • The most interesting part is your music man .....awesome !!!

  • is this free?

  • can i use this with reaper

  • @willxxxlife yes i am :)

  • watch producers make mastering engineers use this thing... 0.o

  • I don't understand....Does this looks forward and determines which sound waves are softer in level and THAN it goes up to make the even with the rest of the track ?

That's the only thing that seems logical to use this plugin for.

  • Can I use it (successfully) for guitar? Compression seems to fatten and flatten but not reduce the "apparent" volume on some settings coming out of my guitaritsts POD amp modeler (already compressed).

  • Its absolutely incredible.

  • That is good song! :DDD

  • i put it in write modw followed all the manuals ect. and it did not write for me..??? why won't it work

  • @yappertrap Make sure you 'automation enable' the main fader of the plugin in your host's plugin toolbar, as well as have the plugin and track both in write mode.

  • @danielwaves I will try that. ps I love your vids... you rock at what you do...!

  • @yappertrap I also followed the directions to the letter and it won't write for me either. I wonder if it has something to do with my C/24? I notice the faders on it are not moving when Vocal Rider is doing its thing, and if the faders on the C/24 aren't moving, then automation is not getting written. Frustrating.

  • I'm a little confused on what this is supposed to do. Is it a compressor? Can someone explain this, thanks (:

  • Very awesome plugin!

  • This looks very useful to be honest. A question though - at what point would you then patch a compressor into the signal path, if you wanted to use it for colour or aditional dynamic control? The effects slots in most DAWs are pre-fader, correct? Or would most people stick the vocal rider after a compressor? Any tips greatly appreciated :)

  • @integer22 yeah id like an answer to that 2

  • Maybe I'm not following you when you said you sent all the tracks to bus 1. Are you saying vocal rider gives you the option to do that with in its self or you set all your tracks to bus 1 and the side chain to bus 1? My vocal rider only has a side chain option. I can't imagine setting say 60-80 tracks all to one buss for the purpose of using vocal rider. Am I missing something here?

  • would this replace? a compressor in a vocal mix? i a little confused

  • Not a bad plug in but it kinda takes the fun out of mixing.

  • So this is the most transparent compressor in the world

  • can i use this with pro tools LE?? i was looking to buy at sweetwater but saw it was a tdm plugin are there any compatiable versions for LE?

  • @ProdMRI Yes this can be used with PT LE. I have this plugin and it's nice.

  • nice song man!!!!

  • say for example i have two vocal tracks with one where the vocalist stood slightly farther away from mic, but not out of phase. can this plug-in ride between the two tracks simultaneously?

  • what bundle is this in?

  • yeah

  • i love vocal rider... the way it writes the automation is fantastic.. so u can fix or change of each autiomation point :) I LUV IT !!!

  • i love this!!! I have it!!! SWEEET!

  • I want to know what that metering box is.... The LED on to the left of the mixer. I could really use one of those for my home studio -- big display without opening my software mixer.

  • @mesaoneCCK it's a Dorrough PPM/RMS level meter. Waves actually have a plug-in version. And no, I don't work for Waves!

  • Great time to be a producer/engineer!

  • what mixer is that on the left of desk.. looks like Mackie VLZ 802 but diff in colour. just guessing

  • actually this is like a compressor (which does not effect the the sound.besides amplitude, hence a dynamic effect) the difference between this and a compressor is simply the ratio and speed at which it lowers or raises the amplitude. This is a lot more gradual than a compressor. Two totally different applications. but in theory they are doing similar things. And technically speaking a compressor alone does not "color" sound though people throw the term around loosely...it changes it dynamically

  • what program u recorded da vocals wit?

  • @ARWhite15 Dude... You don't recognize the industry standard and you write like a little Gangsta. Maybe you shouldn't watch these tutorials. An Eminem video should do for you.

  • That's actually very useful for dynamic singers... I've always imagined something similar to this. Does it react very quickly?

Also, is it part of platinum/mercury or any of the bundles?

  • I'm gonna get this too, it's especially usefull if your vocalist has a voice that cuts trough glass and she steps back at the mic to sing louder pieces, or the song isn't recorded in one go :)

  • wow...

if you don't know the difference between compression and riding the fader.... stop recording.

  • this is great! gonna get it

  • hey is that doing like compressor?

maybe we ll lose som dinamic in vocal no?

  • @takafinir No this is the purpose of the plugin. Instead of using a compressor (which will add colouration) it simply brings the vocal within the set dynamic range, so you will preserve the dynamics desired but make the range smaller - not all over the place (which would be smashed by a compressor).

  • no you wont, think of it as automatic automation

  • dude that song is win whats it called

  • Thanks. The song is called 'Summer Song', you can hear the whole song at: shachar (then dot, then com)...

  • @danielwaves are waves plugns made for 32 bit only?

  • This is gonna save me years haha

  • Compressors do change the sound, vocal riding doesn't

  • Once again another tool thats gonna change the way we work. Experienced mixers are gonna resent this.

  • @djmmjd3 No resentment. Anything that saves time and sounds great works for me! I've never liked automating vocal rides. The trick with experience is knowing when something works and when it doesn't. Autotune, vocal riding, compressors, eq's.... They're all just tools. I can be handed every tool in a car mechanic's shop, but I still wouldn't want to try and fix a broken transmission. I'd rather be driving!

  • soon us Musicians will not need to be a part of the musical process. Oh wait...that time is already here!

  • Not having to ride the faders is precisely why dynamics processors were invented (compressors/expanders). I don't understand how this is different?

  • You still can use compressors but, riding the fader will take a lot of the pressure off your compressor. I think this is a must have plug in

  • Regardless, engineers would always ride the fader even if there is a compressor enabled in the signal. If the compressor gets hit too hard, it sounds horrible. (in certain situations)

Dynamic processors take away from the tone so it would be best to apply some compression while riding the fader unless you want to use the comp as an effect.

  • @DigiRarefaction This is exactly why I am looking into this plugin. I have a vocal track that gets smashed by the compressor (and I suck at automation). Awesome plugin.

  • You can get the same with a well used compressor!

  • whats the difference with side chain compression? sorry if it is a dumb but im still learning. ty

  • x___________x

  • Incredibly cool....

  • Great!

  • Nice love it demo time.

  • Don't make engineers lazy!

  • Yes, you guys from WAVES really do rock.

  • Wow, that's amazing :) You guys rock!

  • Wow, that's amazing :) You guys rock!

  • awesome plug-in. Very useful!!
