It's still a problem, but still could have been worse if it wasn't for the SAFER Barrier. I think the thing that causes back injuries is the way the drivers sit. When they hit as hard as Vitor did, the vulnerable part is the back. I think the only way to change that is for the drivers to sit more upright...but they can't do that in these cars.
