@Ch1naeyez25: Your body needs carbs to survive and function. I had the vertical sleeve. What your doctor SHOULD have said was dont eat refined and processed carbs.
@Kellawanda My doctor is adamant about No bread, pasta, carbs unles its a condiment with few carbs! My limit is 30 carbs a day. Your diet is really confusing for a WLS patient??
What time do you typically have breakfast/lunch/dinner (I've heard timings are very important). How soon after surgery could you eat a meal in a restaurant? How soon could you add chocolate to the diet? What about liquids like juices or coffee as the 'snack'? And how much water a day did you typically consume? Sorry for the crazy number of questions but I don't know anyone personally who has been through the surgery, so your answers are the only honest and real ones I can get.
@kkimberly2004: For the first 6 months yes....but now not normally. I dont struggle getting in 100 grams a day...eating fish, chicken, cheese, etc. If you dont eat meat there is also soy and quinoa.
Hi, I am amazed at how much you can eat, and I don't mean that judgementally. I am 11.5 months out and I can eat about 1/3 of what you show here and often get a "lump" in my throat and/or stomach pains even with that. I'm so jealous! I did expect to eat much smaller but didn't expect all the discomfort. Plus chicken and fish and many other foods make me wanna throw up, so I have alot of foods I can't eat, period. Do you think that'll ever change? The portion part, I mean?
@marolkisan: Most likely over time you can eat more. Take advantage of the restriction you have...even though youd like to eat more, when/if it goes away you'll want it back! lol. Its like "the grass is always greener on the other side" thing because at 1st I worried I could eat too much, and other people say they wish they could eat more ;)
Thank you so much for all of your videos. I am scheduled for VSG surgery on 11/8/10. I am down 30lbs from my high and have another week or so to lose more...I hope to lose a total of 40lbs by surgery time. I am using your postings as a guide and hope to recreate your success. Once again, THANKS!
I just love these videos you do! How many snacks do you typically have in a day? I just started journaling my food again and have noticed I was snacking way more than I thought! This was very helpful for me, being 17 months post-op...it's great to see what others are eating! Thanks for sharing :)
@dawnmarie416: Food journaling is awesome. I try to eat 3 meals, with a snack in between each meal....so its like Im eating something small every 2 or 3 hours. Planned snacks are much better, we tend to make better choices....so just plan them out!
This was GREAT! Thank you so much for all the work you put into this. I really enjoyed it very much. I also had the worry lately that at 5 mos, maybe I am eating too much, but seeing what you eat now lets me see I still have a long way to go. I probably eat less than half your amount so maybe I am on the right track after all for 5 mos. I hope. :) I'm in a stall right now, lost 90 lbs but scale hasn't moved in 3 weeks... is this normal? I exercise, get all protein and water etc.
I love that your dishes don't look like you were deprived. I've fallen off the wagon the past 3 weeks and treating myself way too much. I think it's because I've been feeling deprived. Thanks for suggesting the cookbook. I'm going to purchase The Biggest Loser Book
What a great video. It is such a help I am 13 mts post vsg and I think I am going to start taking pics of my food. Ps Ireland has sent a pumkin to states and it seemingly is going to win the world championship over there, greetings from Ireland.
Thanks for sharing exactly your food portions and the foods you eat!! I'd like to try eggplant more often...I saw my dad eat it with every single meal while I was growing up!! Currently, I'm on a tofu kick and it's lasted for about 2 months now!! I'd like to find those cookbooks too =))
Hungary girl cook books are awesome as well as cook yourself thin cook books you should look in to them :)

Thanks so much for sharing what you eat. I tend to not be so creative with what I eat and I get in a rut.

Guess who had their VSG done the 14th? : )
Worst issue I had was really bad leg cramps post-op. Other than that and a million burps, no problems.
