Went surfing for the first time this year over in sligo and just couldn't believe the whole scene, One good thing about the celtic tiger - we have a decent road network connecting the east and west now so it opens up opportunities in both directions. Must track this video down !

Tow in is great fun as long as your the cunt getting towed in! nothing worse than a tow crew rocking up and getting on waves from outside.

I've been in both situations and to be honest there's nothing better than a dude coming in and getting you when a set's on the horizon and you get to skip the beasting but fuck i hate the cunts when they don't even offer you a lift back into the lineup!.

If you gotta ski throw some mercy to the paddle guy and pick him up when he's inside it's only a lift FFS!

They don't tow if anyone is paddle surfing. Ånd I agree, if there's even one person paddling - no ski's. You don't want to go for a walk in the country and have a motor-crosser doing circles round you. But they don't tow unless it's empty or just tow teams.

I've never been out in bigger than 11feet, or gone the "tow in" routine,but I agree.If blokes are there paddling in then I'd punch the fuck out o' the jetski pissant and the stooge gettin' towed in if they kept takin' all the waves

Typical arguement used, sure wave is like 10km away, how would we get to it without jetski.Simple, use jetski to get there, pull up in the channel and start paddling in with a gun.Some of these waves in this clip don't warrant the use of a jetski,simple fact. Watch the clip axi munian in belharra on msw, guy gets towed in and he paddles into same wave at same time, far bigger than some of these waves. Uses a jetski to get to channel then paddles in, simple as.

i disagree, jetskis are very functional and legit if waves cant be paddled into, 10ft heaving slabs for instance. and just because theres paddlers shouldnt neesesarily mean no ski's, it happens quite often out at aileens and everyone is happy. it would be pretty gay if some guy paddled out and didnt catch anything and all the waves were wasted cuz of that shit rule.

i am sick of tow in and seeing jetskis, get a big gun, paddle out.. surfing has gone the same way as the rest of the world, boring and very gay... and anyway being a surfer is about being with nature not being towed behind a jetski, the noise is terrible, just come back from portugal and 12ft wave had about 10 jetskis and the surfers all stepped into their BMWs and went home with their hair still dry ..!

i am with u i was out at a small cove called sennen in cornwall enjoying a nice 9 to 10 foot wave with sum other locals but after an hour we heard a deep rumbling and it was a stupid town team not dising the guy dan mole and sam but these guy didnt know wat they were doin i dont wanna surf with smell of gas and sum fat guys in life savers crowding up a beutiful tranquil place in cornwall!!

Water off Ireland is cold, and they also surf it in the winter. A bit different than Oz. Search for 'Whitefish Point Inspiration', "Unsalted', 'Lake Superior', and 'Big Ass Waves', the waves aren't that big but they very fast and get vertical quick, and the water is cold, 33F and the air can be -10F and worse. Would be hard etc. to surf those waves shown in 'Big Ass Waves' in Duluth, MN.

last week there was an article in the newspaper (cornish gardian) about a newquay surfer who went big wave surfing in ireland and was riding 50+ft waves!

its true mountainbikingking. I'm from near the place they did it. Biggest wave ever surfed in Ireland. Richie Fitzgerald (guy driving the jet ski) reckons the waves were at least 55 ft.!
