Had a good friend that worked production test flight '69-78' on those out of KICT. It's going to be a missed airframe...love the LR-23/24 engines in those! Makes for a good low pass!
I don't know why everyone is surprised by the short roll out. These little planes had a dry weight of approx 6,220 lb and a max takeoff weight of 14,000 lb. Roughly translated the little brick sh&%house could carry more than double it's dry weight in fuel and armament. I am sure without being loaded down with bombs and bullets these little guys would be a blast to fly.
I saw one of these things many years ago at Archerfield in Brisbane. I remember then thinking what great acceleration it had on the takeoff roll - not as good as my C172 of course!!
One of these "things"??? You are not a true enthusist. Then you mention a 172 in the same paragraph. Too funny comparing the A 37 to a "sky dog". where did you get your ticket ..........Sears??? LOLOLOLOL
I used to watch these planes land at willow grove air base in 86,87. Thanks for posting. Didn't think they were used anymore except outside the country.
Just read an interview with a pilot from the Vietnam war era about the Dragonfly. Incredible stories - read it in "Air Combat an Oral History". Great book, awesome personal accounts of air combat from WWII to present.
sure hope theres a Civil version of that.

First time I've seen one fly. Performs much better than I'd imagined. The takeoff acceleration was ridiculous.

That's a pretty short take off run. I didn't know they were capable of such a short run

I flew in one of these in Viet Nam and I was also impressed at the very short take off roll !

They aren't in service....it's a jet warbird from the Temora Aviation Museum.
Note the VNAF colours.
