  • oh I really can't stand Paul Anka, but I like this waaay too much

  • "Load up, load up."

    :|

  • If could anyone tell me what key signature this song is played in?

  • I LOVE Nirvana's original, I love Tori Amos's version, I love this version, BUT FUCK OFF MILEY CYRUS!

  • he has a great voice for a 70 year old

  • This is the first time the song doesn't fucking suck.

  • bela interpretação, ele é um profissional

  • this is an abomination.

  • I found the absurdity hilarious. Props to this guy.

  • interesting cover, definitely thumbs up

  • To me it sounds like a MasterCard advertisement.

  • @afigueiro To me it sounds like a blues Nirvana song cover

  • @NerdFan94 It is! xx

  • Paul forever, your voice is wonderful, sweet and powerful, incomparable. I love you.

  • Smells Like Merry Chirsmax Teen Spirit XD

  • Verry nice song.

  • mr cobain would appreciate

  • @italiberal Kurt?

  • @trumpet90909 yes, of course :)

  • This version is great...ignore those music haters that critisize you badly.

Paul Anka still rocks...I love swing.

  • this is cool, i think kurt would be proud!

  • People get over yourselves..it's F.U.N!! in a weird kind of way I think it is a refreshing irreverent nod to those worshiping at the altar of Nirvana.so obsessed with it I love Nirvana and I ove this!!!

  • funny!

  • Now let's hear the grunge version of In The Mood

  • @micawberful lol. Actually, I always thought it would be hilarious to hear a heavy metal version of the bunny hop from '54 lol

  • This cover suck ass and then some!

  • This shouldn't have been done. This song is horrible like this.

  • 56 people smell like something else.

  • Swing is a style of Jazz or better said a sub-genre of Jazz

  • 53people don't smells like teen spirit

  • We did this in college for a dance group and i loved singing it =']

  • cheese did this 1st and way fucking better

  • WTF LMFAO HAHHAHA WTF!

  • I heard this in a fancy seafood restaurant for the first time, and did a triple-take.

    0_0

  • Wow for the first time I finally understood all of the words! Thanks Paul!

  • @luchaylu No, you didn't. Paul changed, "Load up on guns" to "Load up, load up".

This is so lame that it overshot "funny because it's so lame" and just went for "lame, period". I'm not what I'd call a Nirvana fan, so "I ain't even mad."

  • Swing is a jazz derivative. One of many.

  • this is cool :D

  • I think this is a BRILLIANT version - heard it last weekend at Falcon Ridge Folk Festival and had to ask everyone until finally the sound man (of course) and when he told me it was Paul Anka I almost fell over. I love Kurt Cobain, and I love Nirvana - but there is some genius too in this arrangement - and a lot of surprise. Kurt might not have appreciated it - but that is also part of it's genius.

  • @lauramadugan This would've been the craziest song ever back then. Probably banned from the radio because everybody thought the lyrics were some kind of drug reference.

  • When u guys listen to this, open your mind, this is swing Jazz, close ur eyes imagine kurt kobain was born made this song in 1940's before world war.....im in music and nirvana fan since high school...Paul Anka is Paul, and im sure kurt is okay with that...PEACE

  • Although a classy tribute to Kurt Cobain, this version sucks. You cannot transform this song in like this. The music does not match the sentiment of the words.

Kurt did it perfectly. Paul Anka killed the feel and attitude of it.

  • @MrDeppness Also he's completely ridiculed the meaning of it. This is the exact opposite of what Cobain would have wanted.

  • @CitiesInTheSky It's people like you that drove Kurt to kill himself.

  • @Meristic Spot on.

  • @CitiesInTheSky Exactly. He made it showy and conforming to what people considered cheesy and acceptable. Cobain HATED cliches and fakeness.

  • Just no. This is so far from good it's painful.

  • Heh heh he said anus.

  • @bmxtahoe enter anus. heheheh... how bout that?

  • Holy fuck this is just as crazy awesome as when Dolly Parton covered Zeppelin.

  • I think it shows something about the generation difference because people who knew Nirvana before this searched "Teen Spirit", those who came here for Paul Anka, "Team Spirit"

  • @mr18duh Haha good point i kinda thought that is was society's fault

  • I thought this wasn't going to sound good but it's pretty nice =)

  • What the fuck? This sucks.

  • @TheDawg412 then why are you listening to it? DAWG.

  • @xrytheelf Because I wanted to hear what it sounded like, herp derp.

  • @TheDawg412 and then you wasted your time commenting on it. Trololol. Your time wasted anyways.

  • @xrytheelf It's summer, man, I don't care about two minutes wasted on a comment.

  • Shit he's good, should be compalsory for radio stations to play this

  • when you search for this song on youtube the auto-complete lists it as "Smells Like Team Spirit" WTF YOUTUBE GET YOUR SHIT RIGHT

  • This song is catchier than a second baseman.

  • I'm a huge Nirvana fan and I wasn't sure how I would feel about this. I absolutely love this!

  • kids hate this....!

  • This simply can't be compared to the Nirvana version. They're far too different

  • Haha, it's sooo out of character for me. xD I fucking love swing/big band, I fucking love Alt/Grunge. But come on people. xD It's a nice cover, but wtf. x3

  • No disrespect to Paul but this version takes out the emotion of the song and is really not enjoyable. I can appreciate what he tried to do and I enjoyed actually learning some of the words but there is no emotion.

  • So cool...love this.

  • This is hilarious and brilliant beyond all belief!! I just head it on the radio and had to listen to it again! LOL! I LOVE it!

  • Too many people hating on this. Open your minds, people.

  • I'm sorry to all of the Anka fans out there... but I cried when I heard this, and not in a good way. He completely ruined the song for me.

  • @placextoxhide HAA HAA! >:D

  • Wish i was at a club listening to this, Then all I'd need is a martini, a cigar, and a blonde to smile and sip champagne while wrapped on my arm.

  • musicalmente no es malo pero me parece como que es una falta de respeto a los fanaticos de nirvana que alguien del mundo del comercio lucre con musica de nirvana

  • Haha what the fuck

  • finally i can understand what the lyrics really are

  • This isn't jazz though. Its swing.

  • @dylangauci1993 Swing is form of Jazz though.

  • @dylangauci1993 it's actually jazz swing.

  • Comment removed

  • @dylangauci1993 Swing IS jazz.

  • @dylangauci1993

I had no idea swing wasn't a subset of Jazz. Thanks for clearing that up.

  • @dylangauci1993

Swing music, also known as swing jazz or simply swing, is a form of jazz music that developed in the early 1930s and became a distinctive style by 1935 in the United States. - Wikipedia

  • @dylangauci1993 Um...swing is jazz..

  • @dylangauci1993

    Which is inherently jazz...

  • @dylangauci1993

Swing is a sub-genre. So yes this is jazz! What kind of jazz? Swing (jazz)!

  • @dylangauci1993 WTF? Swing is not jazz? To my knowledge, the term swing has 3 meanings (in music), all bound to jazz:

    1. Distinctive style of jazz music, most popular in the 1930´s to 1940´s

    2. Rhythmic concept of playing, characteristic by uneven (swung, or syncopated) 8th notes

    3. Feel or groove in the music (it swings tonight)

  • If you want a jazz version of Nirvana, check out Charlie Hunter Trio's cover of "Come as You Are"...

  • this sound more fitting to mafia theme in 40s NYC

  • Drove thru NYC with this song during a winter storm, blasting it. It was sooo good. I love Nirvana. Great song

  • Well now THAT was amusing.....

  • makes me want to puke and so does the rest of his covers..

  • finally, we can hear the lyrics of this song asd

  • @Cacio93 yep ;)

  • FA CACARE A SPRUZZO.

CARO PAUL ANKA, A' FATTI 'NA MURUTA.

  • @Disparide1 Beata ignoranza.

    A Disparide, fatti na cultura!

  • this version was one of the best I've heard this song

  • The only decent cover of "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I've ever heard.

  • @p7byrd listen to tori amos version it kicks arse.

  • De Poca Madre! Fucking Love It!

  • BUENÍSIMO! NICE GOOD!

  • incomparable to nirvanas but its good... in its own way

  • I much rather this original version, Nirvanas cover was just crap....

  • @theburdcotter, this is a cover, love.

  • @theburdcotter

I agree, the originals like this one are always better. Nirvana's cover wasn't up to the challenge - they didn't even have a horn section.

  • @euphfellowship You said it brother/sister. I always have a horn section...even when speaking to my wife. Nirvana were just Michael Jackson wannabees !

  • @theburdcotter i didn't know nirvana and mj had anything in common. music wise. and just to confirm as two of you misunderstand. PAUL ANKA covered NIRVANAS song not the over way round.

  • @theburdcotter I don't know if that's sarcasm but Nirvana's wasn't a cover.

  • @TerenceTeng2 tell boston that. teen spirit was just a lazy rehash of more than a feeling.

  • sounds Christmas-song like...weird.

  • Wow, so THAT'S what the words are!

  • genial

  • Kurt would give this the thumbs up from 6foot under, you know it!

  • This is far beyond terrible. Cheery, perky interpretation od a really disturbing and depressing song?! Makes me wanna puke. Awful!!!!

EVEN WORSE!!! To say i absolutely hate it would be a major underestimate of how i feel!

  • @KrvavaMerii Kurt, Dave, and Krist liked Weird Al's parody, and that takes the original even less seriously than this one.

  • @km9OOO Oh, I'm sorry. This is supposed to be a parody? (please take notice of my sarcasm). This is a very bad joke on account of all good music.

  • it made me feel physically sick to listen to this. then, my mother tried to say that Paul Anka sang this first. i was like, "-_____- no. nirvana did. thanks."

  • The original is better. I don't like this version :(

  • totally awesome!!!!!

  • I totally love this piece!

i am a fan of nirvana and a fan of jazz!

    LIKE THIS IF YOU AGREE!

  • @ROMIHU Totaly agree , is cool to hear a lot of diferent music !!!!!

  • @ROMIHU I do not agree with your ill concieved misguided drivvle. My 5 year old has better taste. This guy has taken angst and destroyed it.

  • @mrdenplan its a bad thing to destroy angst mate?

  • @mrdenplan You're relying on your five year old for musical criticism?

  • i shit on your version !

this is clean, empty, the lyrics loose all their meaning; the arrangement is so classic that anyone can get bored after 10 seconds of listening to it, the sound is all but personal. This could have been a cynical version but it's only a commercial song now.

  • @pioudesbois totally agree!!!!!

  • @pioudesbois that is bullshit first of all nirvana has the same tune trew the whole number! and jazz is something you have to like:)

but youre right it is verry commercial:)

    greetz

  • @pioudesbois Because the original was so well arranged? Its 4 chords? There is no arrangement needed. This is very well done.

  • Nice version , but Nirvana's version is better!

  • i'd hope so too!

  • I wanted to hate this but it's so good

  • most of the people who get pissed off about this wearnt even there for when this was cool, tbh kerrang and scene kid ruined this for me.. thank fouck for D7

oh wait now all the little fucks love that too

no wonder i hate people ^_^

  • @FullMetalDagger dont worry people hate you too

  • Oh my God, this songs is just SO jazz/bigband/don'tknow!! Great cover, especially by such a legend as Paul Anka! :D

  • Aaah i love thisss!!!

  • i guess lot of you didn't know this guy before hearing this cover version. i am one of these guy.

  • Holy crap. I won't be able to sleep tonigt.

  • Very nice. Perhaps Andy Williams could incorporate some rock into his act. At least there's Michael Buble.

  • Isn't the first line: load up on/your guns?

  • @TheBaronessIsAwesome covers dont always have to be the same as the original, but yes the original lyrics are 'load up on guns'

  • I'm mostly into Rock, but I like this version too. Paul Anka is awesome!

  • LOL

  • it is the only original version men

he was the first and the others have made so many nice cover afterwards.

  • @motorowkapodwodna .... This is and always has been a nirvana song Paul just did it "His Way"

  • this guy's a genius!!!!

  • He doesn't say a denial at the end of the song as in the original and i couldn't find the solo in there but otherwise pretty good

  • Kurt Cobain is ashamed of 23 of his overzealous fans

  • @SgtColbert42 If you think Kurt Cobain would've liked a cover like this of his song then you obviously were never into Nirvana or know much about his history.

  • @greatestxgift despite the fact that he allowed weird Al yankovic to parody this song, and he was much more open-minded than you make him out to be

  • @SgtColbert42 Weird Al did a parody of this song as homage to Nirvana. This old fuck was paid by a producer to come sing "rock" covers to try and make himself more appealing to the younger generation. Kurt would roll over in his grave at the thought of this old man trying to make a buck off his song.

  • @greatestxgift and you say that Yankovic and even Kobain didn't make a pretty penny off of this song?

  • @SgtColbert42 The difference is that Weird AL was given permission by the person who wrote the song to parody it and Cobain (with a C) wrote the song, so I think it would make sense for him to make money off it, right?

  • @greatestxgift

    Oh lol I didn't notice i did the K :P

Very well, I see your point, but I don't know where you get the notion that this man was ONLY interested in the cash that this would bring, as he was a star back in the 50s, and not that it would actually sound kind of cool to do a jazz crooner cover of a classic grunge song?

  • @greatestxgift Doubt it. According to his friends he loved the Weird Al one and used to dance to the Tori Amos cover with Courtney. Just cause you're funless doesn't mean he was. My opinion is that he would have laughed at this cover. It's awesome.

  • This is best. Not Nirvana.

  • i love this version from paul anka swing

  • I love this version, much better than Richard Cheese right here.

  • Hey, now I know what the crap Cobain was singing.

  • @feitocomfruta i now know too =D

  • Would love to hear Frank sing this one. Kookoo albinos.

  • Damn this whole album makes me want to snort blow and drink something classy.

  • @killfroggy26 Yeah man !!

  • THIS IS NOT NIRVANA WHAT THE FUCK

  • @coreydaviddopp92

how surprising this is not Nirvana... it only says "Paul Anka" in the title ;)
